  1. Current thread regarding report of OP visa exempt entry to non O based on marriage at CW. Smooth as silk. So this thread is really about couple of rogue offices/officers.
  2. Important point to mention. Surprised Kasikorn was not helpful for him with embassy letter. In any event good result for him.
  3. No. Unless an agent was involved. He would need a certificate of residence or letter from his embassy as a minimum in Bangkok. Purchased insurance policy?
  4. Read this 6 day old thread. https://aseannow.com/topic/1296371-multi-entry-non-o-for-the-first-time-thai-child-but-how/
  5. You had a non O visa. Most of these threads regarding opening a bank account concern the need for one to obtain a non O. Just noticed that you mention CM. The requirement to have made a 90 day report to obtain a certificate of residence is a BANGKOK requirement. It's possibly the only immigration office that has that requirement. From the OP ... "Does anyone now of any other bangkok based agent that can still open an account?" You conveniently left out the sentence prior to your quote. I was clearly referring to BANGKOK..... "If opening a bank account in Bangkok you need a "certificate of residence" There is a catch 22.... To obtain a certificate of residence you need to have made a 90 day report (TM47) which is not possible on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry."
  6. From the OP...... "Does anyone now of any other bangkok based agent that can still open an account?" But yes Pattaya agents is an option.
  7. Don't follow. As I posted above . Even if exit by one day without "order to leave" you may have overstay notation on pp. Yes zero consequences but good to be avoided.
  8. The thread has ZERO to do with agents. Did you even read and follow thread. Yes agents some weeks to obtain non O and subsequent extension. Nothing to do with this thread.
  9. A "border run" generally refers to exit and reenter visa exempt. Sometimes referred to as border bounce. What makes it confusing is some folk have a ME Visa. Often ME Non O based on marriage or retirement and need to exit Thailand every 90 days and refer to that as visa run. Then of course some call a "visa run" an exit to actually apply for a Visa at a Thai consulate. The examples in the OP provided, think in one case killing off a non O-A in order to reenter visa exempt and use TM87 to apply for not O at Thai immigration office. That is possible however that immigration office refused to even accept application.
  10. You have not read the thread. The thread is about a visa exempt entry at border and then attending immigration office to apply for non O retirement and being told "Not Possible" Point being is that it is possible but not at that particular immigration office.
  11. Perhaps you should have stated that earlier. For a one day overstay you will still have overstay noted in pp and yes not fined for one day overstay. Does not need to be early am flight. BTW it's not "technically an overstay" It's an overstay an noted in pp (not always but should be) No fine.
  12. No need to go on day of expiry. However if handy to your immigration office chat with them about your plan.
  13. The "at the discretion of io" is true however generally refers to entries via air and land for entry. Most commonly in reference to continuous stay using visa exempt etc. Even businesses have that type of statement. eg Restaurant with small print "we reserve the right to refuse service" Can that same immigration officer refuse to issue say a reentry permit. No. The io,s are clerks. "At io discretion" is dangerous option for some power tripping io in random office. My guess is he was waiting for the farang to offer 5k (inducement) plus the 2k (visa fee) The dragon lady at Jomtien being infamous for making up rules such as recent thread requiring funds in the bank for 2 months converting from visa exempt to non O retirement. And she gets away with it. Outrageous.
  14. This thread has no mention of using an agent. Everyone is aware of having agents obtain a non O and subsequent 12 month extension. Your point...
  15. The immigration officer is completely wrong.. There have been so so many threads where folk have exited Thailand to kill off the non O-A reenter visa exempt and obtain a non O using TM87 form. Zero issues. This thread is basically about couple of rogue officers/offices.
  16. There are MANY threads outlining procedure to "kill off" the Non O-A and obtain a Non O based on retirement. In summary the way to do this is to exit Thailand and obtain a non O in nearby consulate OR..... Exit Thailand without reentry permit and reenter visa exempt. Subsequently with TM87 and required other docs the main one being funds in the bank obtain a non O. This has been common place since the introduction of insurance requirements. The visa exempt entry can be done via land borders and air.
  17. Immigration allows "conversion" from tourist visa or visa exempt to a non O based on retirement or marriage.. From tourist visa use TM86 and from visa exempt use TM87. This thread is highlighting the few immigration offices that make up their own rules. Another example is Jomtien where they are insisting of funds seasoned for two months for the conversion to Non O when of course the funds only need to be in bank on day of application. Fortunately these rubbish offices are very small number out of ~ 75.
  18. Again. Irrelevant! The OP does not have a non immigrant visa. Also 5 years ago situation is irrelevant. Rules for banks have changed drastically. As for links to bank rules be it Bangkok bank or whatever just ignore them. They are all out of date.
  19. Deal with OP. Read again his question and note his situation. As far as using a non O-A to avoid having funds in a Thai bank account that would require a new non O-A every 2 years. The OP clearly not opted for that..
  20. The OP cannot obtain a non O-A. So nothing to consider. It's not an option. He won't find an "accommodating branch" (in Bangkok) .
