There are several posts similar to this one.....(I did not link whole thread) ..... chesterubi1 68 Posted November 16, 2020 "I went to Chiang Mai Immigration today and can confirm that you can use a Joint Bank Account, for applying for a 1 year extension based on Marriage, as long as you have at least double the normally required funds. I went to the bank and got the necessary documents and have submitted my application without issue....," As for your other point that is incorrect. You can have a signatory on your bank account and there signature appears only under ultra blue light. It's not a joint account.

Please explain the "Amohur WILL method" What does that entail? FYI when a farang dies in Thailand their embassy is notified quick smart That info is passed onto banking . No doubt wife/partner have been able to ATM account and access funds. Very illegal in Western countries. Perhaps possible in Thailand.

@Raindancer are you on same page now. The OP is not married. . Even if he was your advice is problematic. @DickThrust you need to look into alternative's. You will need a WILL However that will not provide instant access. You could consider changing to income method. A dedicated bank account transferring 65k every month into a dedicated bank account and other funds in bank account in partner name (under your control) is an option.

Visa Agents in Pattaya.
DrJack54 replied to NONG CHOK's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For me it's a no brainer. Especially given recent reports immigration office Pattaya being very busy. Up country I would do it myself. 4500b reasonable price . Even better if they do pick up drop off pp. -
You missed the post from OP. ....... "I know about the official fund requirement, but I've never been asked to show any funds either, during all my past arrivals to Bangkok. Good to know there are not any other requirements."... You stated "those facts were provided" he already was aware of that... along with .. "Some may argue a credit card is ok for the cash requirement, again, that’s not so clear" That's incorrect credit card has never been acceptable.

Visa Agents in Pattaya.

Yes they can. TM30 is very easy for hotel to provide. Just a screenshot of the filing. Obviously you are located in Pattaya? -
The red stamp is just a VOID stamped on the sticker they place in your pp. It does not stop entry into the country visa exempt. You stated.... "To answer the question about age, I am 65 years old. I am trying to amass the funds needed for a longer term deal but still short of the amount needed to transition to another category of visa."... At 65 without funds to obtain a non O and subsequent extension then living in Thailand will be a tough gig. In your shoes I would ditch the idea of tourist visas etc. Enter Thailand visa exempt and use agent to obtain non O retirement and extension. Approx 30k or less. Ongoing extensions 15k. First step is to have a Thai bank account in your name only.

OP, you have available 2 visa exempt entries via land borders available. You can apply for a tourist visa at eg Savannakhet. If rejected you can still enter at border crossing visa exempt and be given 30 day stamp. You can then obtain a 30 day extension. Given your history your options are closing. How long do you hope to remain in Thailand? That question is about options. Clearly you are not 50+ as non O has not been mentioned.

This is a question for your particular immigration office. Some may accept joint account with double the money in bank for extension marriage. Some might for retirement. Personally doubt many/if any would allow that. OP, if by "other half" you mean wife....then be aware that it's possible to have her as a signatory on your account. In that situation she has access to the account but immigration are unaware of that.

Passport went through the washing machine
DrJack54 replied to Longbow212's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Given that you are flying back to passport country and your boarding pass indicates your destination think no issue at departure. Also no issue on arrival as you are Belgium citizen. If you had been asking about possibility of weekend trip to Saigon that would be a No. You mention "limit the risk" You could consider a trip to your immigration office for advice asap. After thought: Given that airline may also have a concern ....a trip to airport to check with airline and hopefully get to ask immigration at airport would give good peace of mind. Aside: Some countries are playing games with "condition of passport" in recent times Bali being a shocker..
