Tourist Visa in Th Consulate in Vientienne
DrJack54 replied to up2youman's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not many longer term options available unless you are 50+ or married. -
How much longer time frame are you hoping to spend in Thailand. Where are you located in Thailand.

Tourist Visa in Th Consulate in Vientienne
DrJack54 replied to up2youman's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Obviously you are aware that currently visa exempt is 45 days. Pretty attractive compared to tourist visa. With extension 75 vs 90. I would be tempted to do the visa exempt border bounce and next a tv at consulate. -

In that case no problem. You can obtain tourist visa at consulates. Be aware that both Vientiane and Saigon consulates now require an appointment and may be backed up so check that first. Think Savannakhet is still walk in option. -

Some advice needed to get a Type O visa
DrJack54 replied to localexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes that's true. Not all consulates require 800k equivalent some examples UK, AU etc. Regardless after entering Thailand with the non O you would receive a 90 day stamp. You would then need to place 800k in a Thai bank account in your name only and have in the bank for 2 months in order to obtain a 12 month extension. Obviously if someone has no intention of obtaining an extension then no Thai bank account would be required. As vague as the OP is he seems to looking to obtain a 12 month extension.. -

Does anyone have a link to online modules for 5 year license test.. As I understand it you can do the test (or part of the test) online prior to attending for actual DTL renewal. -
60 day extension based on marriage
DrJack54 replied to flytalk50's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Here is thread currently running describes all the ins and outs. https://aseannow.com/topic/1281678-multiple-non-o-marriage-visa-in-savannakhet-december-2022-report/ -
Shock rightly so. I realize that it's not easy or convenient but you could use money in the bank method for the non O and subsequent extension along with maintaining the 65k transfers for the next 12 months then change to income method for the next extension. Not much of a suggestion but all that comes to mind. Edit: just noticed that you are married. You could have changed your extentions from non O-A to based on marriage and not required insurance. Bit late not. You could do non O based on marriage. Only 400k in bank required.

You can only obtain a non O-A in your passport country or country where you are a legal resident You can apply for a non O based on retirement in Thailand however that requires 65k monthly deposits for 12 months. You could alternatively use money in bank method. Does your embassy provide "income letter"

60 day extension based on marriage

Depending on your own preferences, the ME non O marriage visa valid for one year from places such as Savannakhet is another long term option for some. -
60 day extension based on marriage
DrJack54 replied to flytalk50's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Excellent. However that will skip along. Since you have the funds in bank that's good. Can't recall if you after non O marriage or retirement. Obviously few extra docs for marriage. Normally for retirement you need to show funds came from abroad however in your case that should be not required. So you have time but certainly get onto the non O. -
60 day extension based on marriage
DrJack54 replied to flytalk50's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As stated earlier. You don't have a visa. You entered visa exempt. You need to now obtain a non O based on retirement or marriage. To do that you require 15 days remaining on your current permit. Sounds like that's very soon. That non O will give you a 90 day permission of stay. After funds have been in the bank for 2 months you can apply for 12 month extension. -
That's a pain. Good that you point out the option to use Vietnam based agent to provide the "letter of approval" for visa on arrival. Prior to covid being Oz I required visa for Vietnam and used one of those agents for 3 month multiple. Often. Sadly for some reason Vietnam has taken the 3 month option off the table.

Some advice needed to get a Type O visa
DrJack54 replied to localexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are quoting from "common misunderstanding Thailand visas and extensions 101" You don't even have a valid visa. You have an extension of a permission of stay based on retirement. -

By ......"You can obtain a non O retirement ". Refers to a non O 90 day visa based on retirement. Just omitting couple of unnecessary words. You then post picture of extension stamp. I will stop there as you are not familiar with the fundamentals of visa types and extensions. -
Am i eligible to do e visa ?
DrJack54 replied to Kevinphall's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As @treetops indicated the question has come up. Some folks have asked questions such as "I'm from UK and currently in Vietnam can I apply for a METV eVisa to Thailand " Very sneaky imo.. I wouldn't do that however back to the OP, can imagine would be possible from Turkey to Thailand flight. -
60 day extension based on marriage
DrJack54 replied to flytalk50's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I don't understand your post. If you recently entered visa exempt your first step would be to apply for a non O visa which is would give you a 90 day stamp. In the last 30 days of the permit you would apply for 12 month extension. To apply for the non O you would require 15 days + remaining on your visa exempt entry. Sounds like that is due to expire early Feb. Tick Tock. BTW the non O is 2k and the 12 month extension 1900baht.. -
