  1. This doesn't prove much...but for what it's worth... I have been here 10 years and have had zero issues. Have purchased 4 properties and used WISE to transfer online from my Oz bank to Thai bank. Better service than my AU bank. Few months back purchased a condo and withdrew 2.5mil baht cash from shopping mall branch. No problem. In Australia my bank would make me book that amount day prior to providing it. Think you are over thinking it.
  2. They just photocopy info page of your passport and have you sign it..
  3. Savannakhet would be an option. Saigon is nice but requires an appointment. Why not try a Pattaya agent such as Maneerat Soi 13/2 Realize your Bangkok but not a difficult option. Mini break
  4. Both excellent. I personally prefer Kasikorn. There are only 3 banks that do not have a 50k per transaction limit for international transfers using WISE. Both BB and K bank are on that list. Also both those banks have branches at CW if you deal with that immigration office. SCB does not. Note: in my earlier post to you, I stated that I had no problems opening account with K bank. BB wanted certificate of residence.
  5. I think you were obtaining a non O (not an extension) ? A home visit for a non O retirement visa not unusual.
  6. You should be able to open account with Kasikorn given the fact you have a non O-A visa I opened an account with Kasikorn without a certificate of residence and I am on extensions from a non O
  7. No problem. Have you done any 90 day reports?
  8. What type of visa/extension. Which province Which province Visa/extension status?
  9. Don't know how you managed to open a bank account at DMX without a certificate of residence.
  10. Good. Don't forget to purchase reentry permit TM87 form. You can obtain at immigration office or just purchase at airport. For BKK airport the permit office is Zone 2 left side after security check and BEFORE passport control. The provide a service to do the form and picture for 200b or you can do it yourself. Reentry permit is 1000b single or 3800b multiple
  11. What I don't understand is you not understanding. Obtaining a non O at a consulate eg Vientiane would require overnight stay. Accommodation etc Also require an appointment. A border bounce and visa exempt enter and dealing with Thai immigration office preferred by MANY. now on ignore..
  12. It's not easy now. 12 years ago has zero relevance. This thread outlines how difficult in recent couple of years https://aseannow.com/topic/1292317-open-thai-bank-account/
  13. Just to clarify. You have extension of permission of stay from non O? If so you need to obtain a reentry permit to keep you extension valid. Just travel back to Thailand with both passports. The io will want to see your reentry permit.
  14. Please stop. What "right visa" Converting from tourist visa or visa exempt permit is outlined in government regulations. A Non O retirement can be obtained at many consulates OR At time immigration. Here is pic outlining that law. You cannot read it but download it yourself. Just because some nutter io sends you away means nothing.
  15. That's good. Some offices can be ridiculously "by the book" when it comes to seasoning. Note for others: The funds only need to be in the bank on the day of application for Non O . For the 12 month extension, funds required in bank for 2 months.
  16. Because you shouldn't have to. The process border bounce and kill off a non O-A and enter Thailand visa exempt and subsequently obtain non O at Thai immigration office is done routinely Current thread... https://aseannow.com/topic/1291070-visa-exempt-to-non-o-marriage-visa-conversion-at-cw-requirements/
  17. Current thread regarding report of OP visa exempt entry to non O based on marriage at CW. Smooth as silk. So this thread is really about couple of rogue offices/officers.
  18. Important point to mention. Surprised Kasikorn was not helpful for him with embassy letter. In any event good result for him.
  19. No. Unless an agent was involved. He would need a certificate of residence or letter from his embassy as a minimum in Bangkok. Purchased insurance policy?
  20. Read this 6 day old thread. https://aseannow.com/topic/1296371-multi-entry-non-o-for-the-first-time-thai-child-but-how/
  21. You had a non O visa. Most of these threads regarding opening a bank account concern the need for one to obtain a non O. Just noticed that you mention CM. The requirement to have made a 90 day report to obtain a certificate of residence is a BANGKOK requirement. It's possibly the only immigration office that has that requirement. From the OP ... "Does anyone now of any other bangkok based agent that can still open an account?" You conveniently left out the sentence prior to your quote. I was clearly referring to BANGKOK..... "If opening a bank account in Bangkok you need a "certificate of residence" There is a catch 22.... To obtain a certificate of residence you need to have made a 90 day report (TM47) which is not possible on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry."
