400,000 baht bank account question
DrJack54 replied to sagra's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, do you have another bank account with same bank? If yes then just provide both accounts. If the account you mention is your only account then immigration will not accept. Have you obtained a 60 month extension to "visit Thai wife" If you have not then that would provide time for seasoning. Suggest you chat with your immigration office. They might overlook the error. -
Re-entry at immigration or airport?
DrJack54 replied to AustinRacing's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What many other immigration offices and for that matter consulates outside of Thailand have staggered lunch break. Seems you wasted best part of a day for stamp that you could have obtained at airport in minutes. As they say "up to you". Rather foolish option in my book. -
Thanks for being polite. Clearly we have very different views on it. Bit off topic but the ME non O marriage has been discussed as a misused visa. My take on that is ...not interested as it's a valid option so go for it. If I was married it would be my go to visa as I enjoy travel to Saigon. Would suit me perfectly. The thing is when something makes it impossible eg covid then it's bit p weak to have folk complain that the 400k for 3 months is out of their reach.
-
You miss my point. Maintaining 400k in Thai bank for 2 months + under consideration period and then being able to live off it for 9 months is a sweet deal. I specifically referenced those that couldn't obtain a ME non O marriage during covid and couldn't "transfer 400k" until borders open. Heaven forbid they require medical treatment. In the last 12 months I had a hip replacement which (kid you not) was 400k. Can't put 400k in a bank for 3 months!!......cry me a river..

Jomtien stamp marriage extension
DrJack54 replied to Tao52's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Realize wife has to attend for application for annual extensions based on marriage, however for the final stamp (after under consideration period) not aware wife is required. -
Well it's a very big contrast to money in bank method for extensions based on retirement. In addition for extensions based on marriage the funds can be used to live on as soon as the extension is approved. My eyes were opened during covid when the married guys who live in Thailand obtaining ME Non O visa were complaining that they could not switch to obtaining annual extension at Thai immigration. No funds. The crying was over 400k in a bank (only for couple of months) being too difficult.

If you believe media and esp nonsense that comes out of TAT that's strange. They didn't make a change on March 31 the way you imply. The TEMPORARY increase to 45 up from 30 days for visa exempt entry was just that..... temporary. Your trip to Saigon was made being well aware of March 31 deadline. In any event just obtain a 30 day extension to your exempt entry if overstay stamp is an issue. Pretty poor planing in my book.
-
That may depend on immigration office. Personally I would attend immigration and outline your issue with the funds. They may be able to provide alternative. Extension based on support of family would take care of seasoning issue. Here is thread with some comments on extension based on support of family.

I understand request for statements when someone using it as daily bank account as sometimes if there are many transactions they can be consolidated. As I mentioned earlier I don't use the bank account. Sits in the draw and comes out for immigration. Cannot for the life of me understand why they would not just accept photocopies of bank book pages along with the bank book. Strange that it was OK for the 9 previous extensions.

Online 90 Days after changing TM30
DrJack54 replied to hammered's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You could try online however failing that a visit in person or via mail would work. -
Assume you mean that your current permit expires in 52 days. Immigration requires 2 months of seasoning Your application would be rejected. Obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife. That provides required time. Edit: just noticed OP has used his 60 day extension. Border bounce does not help as you would then need to do a new non O marriage

Thanks for report. Seems that you have an FD account. Immigration does not check them so carefully for monthly transactions. I actually use two dedicated accounts one FD and a savings a/c same bank. That part of my earlier post was off topic but pointing out for others that use CW need be aware of shift towards requirements of bank statements. It was not just down to the junior io as I disputed her notion and was sent to back of office to head lady. Back to the OP, yes letter can be days old. CW folk bit lucky with most banks located inside of imm office building. The bank letter along with small deposit that serves as bank update all done in minutes. Note: SCB does not have branch there and same of course for OP,s bank.

Re-entry at immigration or airport?
DrJack54 replied to AustinRacing's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Listen to this experienced guy. -
They do not and also SCB do not. The OP has made easy into difficult however he can obtain letter days prior. More difficult to show activity on day of application. IO may not require that. Not sure what immigration CW will require for "passport -less" bank account. Hopefully someone will update that uses similar account. Off topic : for my extension (retirement) last Nov the io looked at every month. I use dedicated bank account. She was not happy that couple of months had zero transactions. The previous many years not an issue. Made me sign my paperwork that I would provide bank statements for next extension. Strange that was never an issue previously. Thai immigration offices are a joke.

Re-entry at immigration or airport?
DrJack54 replied to AustinRacing's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The OP did not obtain a reentry permit at time of his extension. It now requires trip to immigration and if that's a long process then it's a no brainer. Perhaps you haven't done a reentry permit at airports. It's a breeze. BKK even offers an option of "service fee" 200baht ... They do all..provide form, photocopies pp and pp. Personally done 9 at airports and 1 at CW. .... No brainer if you don't obtain the permit same time as extension visit. -
Bank letter can be up to seven days early at CW, however day prior is best practice. As for update.. Best to do on day of application. Some immigration officers at CW want to see transaction on day of application. It's not a problem that the balance will not match bank letter. You did not mention if extension based on retirement or marriage. It's seems CW is moving towards 12 month statement for extension based on retirement.

Re-entry at immigration or airport?
DrJack54 replied to AustinRacing's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
All of which has nothing to do with queue at the reentry permit office where often zero . Regardless of how busy airport is the reentry permit often less than 20 minutes. DMK 10 mins. As someone posted earlier.. depends on your immigration office and if your relatively handy. In Bangkok best part of a day to obtain at CW.
