  1. 650baht......30day cover for 10k covid insurance. https://partner.fwdgi.co.th/en/fwdgi/corona-virus-inbound-insurance
  2. The guy has better options than entering visa exempt. He could have obtained a non O.. He also stated ... "....and stayed here during the whole covid time on covid extentions". Again he had option of obtaining non O and extensions.
  3. Told by who. If you are applying for an annual extension you can apply up to 30 days early and at some offices 45 days early. In some instances immigration may permit slightly earlier if applicant has eg a flight ticket out of Thailand. Which immigration office do you deal with.
  4. Thanks for all your posts. It's good when you can hear from a "been there done that" perspective. As I've mentioned in earlier posts, I'm pretty much locked in. On Tuesday I will discuss exactly what process is planned. Thinking that will be posterior. Appreciate the comments and info from @cdemundo. If younger I may have considered alternative treatment. The rehab aspect is scary and comments that a full on effort is required seems very sound advice. For the benefit of others I plan to make some posts of the procedure on Thursday with feedback of the following 5 days in hospital.
  5. Have a look at cheapest option 650baht. https://partner.fwdgi.co.th/en/fwdgi/corona-virus-inbound-insurance You only need a throw away policy for Thailand Pass. Hopefully will be gone in a month or two.
  6. You start again. Your previous non O and extension is irrelevant. Your main choice to to obtain the non O while in the states or just enter Thailand visa exempt. Having done it before would mean that you have a Thai bank account in your name only. As for insurance to enter Thailand you could buy cheapest policy with 30 day period for covid 10k cover.. Note if you need more time to arrange for the non O (should not) you can obtain 60 day extension to visit wife
  7. You can apply for 12 month extension up to 30 days prior to expiry of current permit. Note that it's up to 45 days at some offices. CW and CM being two examples.
  8. One of my personal considerations is that being 68 , I would rather than face it now rather that years later. True it's been sudden onset however anti inflammatory meds have done little.
  9. Thankyou for sharing. I also really appreciate Sheryl replies above and believe that is most sensible option. However (and I'm typing this for others) seeking more opinions is far from easy. I can make it to the toilet and that's about it. In other threads I have often recommended folk to have affairs in order. I'm referring to Will etc. Currently I have no way of being able to make it to my bank to shift funds from a FD account into savings with card so that my partner could milk it if required. Yes all a bit melodramatic but we all need to cover our bases. Tuesday having "pre check" prior to admission on Thurs. The plan is to have consultation with doctor to discuss alternative course of action. Thanks for every reply. Most likely bump this thread ongoing to give insight into the recovery process. Cheers
  10. The OP is asking what is required for travel purposes. What health center are you referring to. Below list of vaccination requirements. Taken from tat news.
  11. What area of volunteering did you have in mind.
  12. They were asking folk to fill in tick box form. Do you have a fever? etc. Nothing really.
  13. Good question. I'm also interested as I will be traveling back to Oz later this year. Similar to many folk the time of my second shot was Oct 19 last year. Over 6 months ago. Someone that has traveled recently hopefully will post answer to your question.
  14. Not everyone has such a straight forward path with extensions based on marriage. Many in fact do have a home visit. I mentioned all offices are different. As I understand it home visit not done in Bangkok. Which immigration office do you deal with
  15. The pathway to living in Thailand using a non O followed by extensions is completely legal and recommended by many. Also recommended by many is to avoid obtaining a non O-A. The non O can be obtained in Thailand having entered by visa exempt or tourist visa. The non O can also be obtained in your country. A doctor will sign the form that you mentioned. You just went to wrong one. Depends also on your future plans. Actually living in Thailand ongoing or just for ongoing visits.
  16. Thanks for all that information even though the rehab sounds scary. So to be clear ...after you tried conservative treatment for few months, you ended up having the hip joint replacement?
  17. What you have had in the past is irrelevant. You can obtain a non O with subsequent extension or look at other options. Obtain your non O in Thailand and extension then no insurance required. You mention a stay of 7 months. There are other options.
  18. I think you are correct. Things have happened quickly. As it stands now I'm booked in for operation next Thurs. Stopped warfarin today. Have check up and covid check Tuesday which is not easy trip to hospital. The package with all the add ons will be 400k. That covers 5 night stay. I'm trusting the doctors judgement which is perhaps foolish.
  19. My Kasikorn account doesn't have any online access and I can't physically get to bank. In any event for anyone interested in Wise to compare to other option here is my transfer details to gf just now
  20. Indeed thankyou. Think I hit panic mode. I just now transferred the 400k baht in to partners Bangkok Bank account using WISE. Yes very simple process. I just had to add new recipient. Bit of fuss about nothing. My concern was that my Kasikorn account has no ATM card and transferring to my account would not work as I can't physically get to bank. All good now. Thanks for advice. Mod can you close this thread.
