Help please - Visa options
DrJack54 replied to Oldterrier's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Perhaps I'm bit of worry wort. You have 6 days? Yes as stated easy for you as you have a visa for return and don't need a reentry permit. Good luck. You have couple of options. Some folk even organize TP prior to exit from Thailand.. -
Certificate of residence
DrJack54 replied to RafPinto's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Disregard the tracking number. They say 2 weeks however most likely closer to one. Really surprised that they dealt with you as you have not done 90 day report.. First time have heard of that. -
Help please - Visa options

Yes that's a possibility. However if your plan is to get out of dodge then you need to act quickly. There is a good thread of recent visa run to Phnom Penh. Since you have a ME Visa you can basically reenter straight away. Of course you will need TP etc. Assume your vaccinated. Forget questions about why agent suggests Bangkok Bank. Most use that bank. If you end up with agent for extension retirement then with also bank account expect to pay approx 25k. Probably the most simple option. -

Even if he has a bank account he does not have time to season funds. 2 months. He either exits Thailand and reenter or use an agent for extension retirement. -
Help please - Visa options
DrJack54 replied to Oldterrier's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The bank account is not the main problem. An agent can open an account easily. The issues is to obtain an extension and that would require funds in the bank for 2 months. He can use an agent and would be best to obtain extension based on retirement. He still has time to exit Thailand and return however has left it very late. From the OP..... "I have extended my 1st Entry and my 90 days, plus 60, is up in 6 days" -

Obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife. You won't have enough time to season funds in bank. Use agent to get around the financial requirements. The agents can also obtain bank account. -

Multiple entries on single entry tourist visas
DrJack54 replied to novster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your in slightly different visit routine. Meaning very common for folk that wish to stay say 9 months continuous out of each year. METV perfect for them. In your case 3 months in then 1 month out wash and repeat you would only get couple of entries out of each METV. At 48 you only have couple of years till you can obtain non O retirement and do ongoing extensions. -
I replied to this post..... "When the UK passport office receive an application for new or replacement passport the previous passport is immediately cancelled and becomes invalid, other than for identification purposes." "Any visa, permission of stay stamp, reentry permit etc remain valid in a cancelled passport. You can travel Internationally using both passports." In that post the guy did not refer to not having both passports. He did earlier true. We were referring to two different situations.

One way ticket fine. Note at check in for flight show the clerk your reentry permit. Aside: for TP insurance $20k just select 30 day cover. -
Multiple entries on single entry tourist visas
DrJack54 replied to novster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, METV are now available. Your asking if you are likely to have issues in the future. The positive side is that you are obtaining visas albeit 60 day TV. Then couple of weeks back home country after 3 month visit. Wash and repeat. Surprised if you aren't given ongoing warnings for future trips. -
Confusion With Retirement Extension
DrJack54 replied to thaisabai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, as explained above. When you are applying for extension (retirement) using money in the bank, the rules for funds is retrospective. The requirements will date back to previous extension. 800k+ for three months after the extension then not below 400k and back up to 800k two months prior to extension application. This is one thing immigration is not flexible on. -
Certificate of Residence - Bangkok
DrJack54 replied to Oxx's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As usual with Thailand some transport office will required foreign DL to be translated into Thai some not. (DL in English don't require translation) If she is obtaining TDL in Bangkok contact agent for confirmation. BSR bikes are good just Google. They have messenger. Owner Mark USA guy very helpful. Someone with recent advice can confirm translation required. There is also sub forum with threads about TDL. -
Good news. Given your permission of stay date you appear to have time to renew your pp. When you go for your appointment, wouldn't hurt to ask about current turn around time. They would know. If all sounds doable go for it. You can do stamp and visa info transfer at same visit as your next extension.

What does working with a visa agent look like?
DrJack54 replied to ThLT's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Opening Bank account would not be done at immigration. You would not attend immigration. The process would not be done for example Bangkok if you lived there.. Most agents use Bangkok Bank and yes if the additional service of opening a bank account you would need to attend bank. That "extra" is 4.5-5k -
What does working with a visa agent look like?
DrJack54 replied to ThLT's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
First up there are 2 levels of service. If you qualify for the financials and just want assistance with organization of paperwork and dealing with immigration then that service is available. You would need to attend immigration. The "other" level of service is to assist those that cannot/not want, to have funds in the bank. In that case you would not be attending immigration. Big difference in price. If the funds are not difficult, doing it yourself is easy especially if using money in bank method- 112 replies

Yeah it's previous pre covid. I obtained Oz pp renewal few years back at Oz embassy Bangkok. Couldn't believe how quick it was. I still have years left on current pp but it's knocked around and have been looking into renewal. I also looked into obtaining one in Oz as I'm heading there for 15 day trip later this year. The wait time even applying in Oz now is through the roof. Earlier post I suggested that you obtain your next extension with current pp, even if that means you lose month or two. Best option imo.
