Leave Thailand for another country say for holiday and return to same address.: need to report?
I have read this pinch from rule 2.2 a few times. Still not sure regarding multi visas. The alien as defined in paragraph one shall include those who being granted multiple-visa who leaves and returns to the Kingdom with specified time in the visa, and those with re-entry permit.

Seems that initially had a non O and obtained 12 month extension OR You have a non O-A visa. The non O-A is valid for one year and is a multi entry visa. It is obtained in your passport country. In fact that visa can provide almost 2 years stay. It requires insurance so you would know if you have that visa.

Don't even know what visa you are referring to. Thinking that you mean ME Non O based on retirement. Valid for one year and provides 90 day permission of stay for each entry Upon obtaining that visa (perhaps obtained Savannakhet) you would need to do a TM30 for your first entry.

Depends what person enters on Visa/extension etc For example someone having a reentry permit is not required to make a TM30 after return to Thailand.

Getting permission for a long term stay for my 95 year old parent.
True unless the funds have been in Thai bank account for some time.

Rogue Immigration Officer?
We are off topic but i for one don't believe that. If an io suspected someone of working (for example) which dress code would enhance that concern. A well dressed fella or someone in T shirt, shorts, and flip flops. To me the latter looks like a Tourist. Immigration office different. Did my 12 month extension last week and worn good jeans shoes and shirt. Just a respect thing imo.

I have not read that regarding Jomtien. Certainly CM is rogue in this regard and still require a TM30 for inter province and international travel. The rules regarding TM30 are very clear (in particular 2.2) CM just being rogue. Not so sure about Jomtien

Rogue Immigration Officer?
Well you have made good suggestions in your post. And yes visits of short duration albeit often is very different from visa exempt entry and then obtaining a 30 day extension and fly out back in with overnight stay out of Thailand. It would be simple to have clear rules. Even for consulates ...it's a guessing game . Some more flexible regarding SETV eg Vientiane and others not so eg PP.

Rogue Immigration Officer?
I was replying to a particular post.. There are daily threads similar to this thread.. The main reason for that is visa exempt entries via air have no stated limit. If they did there would be little reasons for threads such as these and we would have clarity

Clearly you have not been there. Don't believe what you read.

"Thai style preferred"? Very narrow mind set if that's the case. My guess is a particular squeeze.

Rogue Immigration Officer?
That notion stems from 2019 when refused entry occured at.both Bangkok airports. In particular DMK. With extensive history flying into CNX better option..

Rogue Immigration Officer?
So seems that you are currently in Thailand with a tourist visa. Obviously you will extend that by 30 days. It's "what's next" that's the issue. The immigration officer was not rogue at all. You could do couple of land border entries visa exempt. Thinking that you need time out of Thailand. I don't mean couple of weeks. The only option for folk under 50 is PE visa (5 years. Expensive) Non O marriage, ED visa (I don't recommend that) METV provides up to 9 months. What's with the obsession with Thailand. Spend time in nearby countries. Vietnam, just one example has 3 month Multi entry visa.

Confused about my visa options!
That's a good summary and doable plan. Your online work is not an issue and also banking idea the way to go. One issue you will have is "opening Thai bank account in your name only" There are threads about that. You certainly won't open one easily in Bangkok with a METV. Only one opinion......I suggest stay away from the ED visa. As I mentioned previously a METV gives up to 9 months and you are permitted two visa exempt border via land per calendar year. With extensions that's another 4 months. If married at some point you can move to Non O and subsequent extensions . Happy days

Tourist visa needs a re-entry stamp - question
OP, did mention "brief" stay in Vietnam. For Saigon consulate he would require an appointment. Bit messy.

Tourist visa needs a re-entry stamp - question
Your plan would work and yes a reentry permit would "protect" the balance of your 60 day permission of stay from your tourist visa entry to Thailand. Upon return to Thailand after Vietnam trip you can apply for 30 day extension..

Tourist visa needs a re-entry stamp - question
It would be very unusual for someone with 60 day stamp and obtain reentry permit. Better option would be to exit and reenter visa exempt..

No it's NOT a retirement visa. It's a Non O that is single entry and that 90 day stamp (permission of stay) can be extended by 12 months. Visas CANNOT be extended. Your permission of stay can be extended. Just showing ignorance. Ask for advice and folk will advise

Getting permission for a long term stay for my 95 year old parent.
Read earlier posts from experts trying to explain things to you. There is no.... (get a one year non-o retirement) Absolute ignorance. There is a Multiple Entry non O based on marriage or retirement that provides stamp of 90 days permit. Then exit and reenter for another 90 day permission of stay. That is completely different to a Non O based on retirement or marriage and subsequent 12 month extension. No requirement to exit Thailand. If wish to you need to buy a reentry permit. Available single or multiple. Apples and oranges hence need detail..

Geez. He can apply for a single entry Non O based on retirement.. He could also apply for ME Non O based on retirement. Neither should be referred to as Retirement Visa. Very different animals. Won't continue this chit chat as obviously pointless.

Tourist visa needs a re-entry stamp - question
There is zero point in doing that . Read BritTim post above In your case either just exit and return visa exempt or attend immigration and obtain 30 day extension. Why are you exiting Thailand and returning

Yes really. A pathway to living in Thailand is to enter with tourist visa or visa exempt and using TM86 and TM87 respectively to obtain a Non O based on retirement or marriage. That requires 800/400 on day of application. That provides a 90 day stamp. In the last 30 days apply for 12 months extension. Alternatively obtain Non O prior to entering Thailand at Thai embassy or consulates.

We do not know what someone is asking. Many threads start with... "I have a Retirement Visa" That could mean Non O based on retirement single entry giving 90 day permission of stay. Could mean have annual extension. Could mean Non O-A. Could mean ME Non O marriage or retirement. Valid for one year All of which require specific advice.

Getting permission for a long term stay for my 95 year old parent.
Stop. The 800k is using money in bank method for obtaining a Non O based on retirement in Thailand. The subsequent 12 month extension required 800k seasoned in Thai bank account in your name only for 2 months. The application for the initial non O only requires 800k in account on day of application. BTW visas are not renewed. The permission of stay can be extended. The ME Non O visa either based on marriage or retirement is a visa valid for one year and I won't outline the requirements as that has been explained above. Think couple of posts from mods explained clearly that option. In the main obtained at Savannakhet for folks already in Thailand. Back the truck up. You are very confused
