Help please - Visa options
DrJack54 replied to Oldterrier's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Think I have posted lot on your thread. With options. I advised urgency. This was your reply in part... "Why do i need to be in such a hurry ? I was thinking, fly down to bkk next tue/wed then transit to Siem Riep, I dont fancy PP....." You can't even fly direct to SR from Bangkok currently. In another post I mentioned that TP for return, can be obtained before you even exit Thailand. In any event I hope you obtain a solution. Be aware that you could exit Thailand with short overstay and your visa would still be valid for return. You also mention not wanting to spend 5 days or whatever in PP. Well at least you have options. -

Yes saw that post uj. Certainly good option. I haven't read any reports re the tour groups what's the turn around time. He only has (I think) 6 days left to exit. Also seemed not too fussed about R&R trip to Cambodia. He can jump on flight to PP tomorrow if he wanted. Nong Kai will be his best option for next exit. Hopefully by then land borders open. Also of interest is the scrapping of the test and go. Game changer in my thinking. -
Thailand further eases entry restrictions for international travellers

Everyone has their own concerns. Thinking that you might be surprised how many tourists are worried about test on arrival. Test and Go and what a positive test would entail. This is a major game changer. -
scrap test and go latest good news

I'm bit interested in what the "vaccination certificate" would like like in few months. What I mean, if folk have trips planned months from now their jabs by then would be several months old. Guess requirements will unfold in time. -

Indeed... He stated in another post .... . "And, my visa still has 7 months left, so i can go back to trips over to Loas".. So yes a good option for him to Cambodia in/out then when his next exit it due he can do border bounce to Nong Kai. -

Testing positive on arrival has been a big concern for many. Especially tourists. That "worry" has now been removed. This is a game changer. -

Multiple entries on single entry tourist visas
DrJack54 replied to novster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Agree. The ones I recall having issues where for example guys living in Thailand and flying to eg Saigon obtain tourist visa or return visa exempt with 1 or 2 night stay outside of Thailand. Doing that over and over. DMK was prob the worst at that time. One horror story, a guy flew Saigon to DMK refused entry then flown back to Vietnam and refused entry there. Finally flew to UK (UK national). The OP situation very different. -

If Thailand is getting tougher for expats, how about Vietnam?
DrJack54 replied to webfact's topic in General Topics
Prior to covid I would buy four 3 month multi entry tourist visa every year as I went to Saigon every month. Living with a vietnamese chick can be tricky. Cheap visa wise. More simple in so many ways. -

There was a "crackdown" think about 2019. People were denied entry with a valid TV. This thread has some references. -

DrJack54 replied to Oldterrier's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Someone would only have agent obtain extension based on marriage if they were under 50. The OP is over 50 so every agent would suggest extension based on retirement. Will be cheaper and far more simple. -

No. Don't waste your time. However I don't see a problem. You turn 50 in a year. At that time you will be able to obtain a non O (retirement) and subsequent 12 month extensions ongoing. In effect your looking for the next 12 months suggestions to meet your needs. A few have been outlined in the thread. Stick with tourist visas. Perhaps spend more time between trips in home country. Land borders will open at some stage giving other options to stay longer in Thailand. I don't see the point in an ED visa. -
Why would you have an issue to enter visa exempt. As for your options... You can enter visa exempt and once in Thailand obtain a 30 day extension. Cost 1900baht. OR you could obtain a single entry tourist visa. That visa would stamp you in for 60 days. The small issue with the visa exempt entry is that your return flight is beyond 30 days and the airline at departure may have an issue with that. Personally I would obtain a tourist visa. You don't want to be mucking about at immigration for an extension once your in Thailand.
