Interesting. I'm considering pp renewal at Oz embassy Bangkok. I checked appointment today. First available was May 31. Also this from Oz embassy web page. "You should allow up to 6 weeks to receive a passport." On top of that recent news articles in Australia of obtaining pp there has blown out to many weeks. The suggestion being easier international travel. Screenshot shows first available appointment.

Visa exempt by flight after years in Thailand
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Can't see why you would be denied entry visa exempt given 4 months out. If your planned trip had been for say 5 weeks+ then tourist visa would be best option. For 3 week visit and return ticket in place you won't have an issue. -
90 Days on Arrival for Tourist?
DrJack54 replied to TomMc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Incorrect. Entry with visa exempt or tourist visa can be extended by 30 days. In addition if married you can obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife. -
What are the current visa run options?
DrJack54 replied to ThLT's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not the ones I'm familiar with. In any event I'm sure folk can approach an agent to find out for themselves. -

Which agents can obtain CE for those that entered with non O for example.. -
OP, you can also obtain reentry permit at airport upon departure.

That was changed. -
You don't need to go to immigration. As others have posted.... Your extension will be dated till 12 months from current expiry OR till the expiry of your pp. Sounds like you will get almost the full 12 months. Wait till after you apply for next extension and then start process of obtaining pp renewal.

90 Days on Arrival for Tourist?
DrJack54 replied to TomMc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So that return flight is a throw away? Keep in mind that any onward flight has you covered, does not need to be return. -
Certificate of residence
DrJack54 replied to RafPinto's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The catch 22 with Bangkok, is that you must have filed 90 day report to obtain residence certificate. That makes it difficult for tourists to obtain a TDL in Bangkok. -

If you were Australian you can't even obtain one at embassy. The building is mainly for show. -
Certificate of residence

Bit extreme. I assume it was done on the spot? You didn't need to return. BTW do you know if obtaining a TDL in Rayong requires a residence certificate? Don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread but an alternative to residence certificate for TDL , Bank account is Letter from embassy. (for embassies that provide that)! -
7 days to leave Thailand
DrJack54 replied to Isaantiger's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How did you enter Thailand? My guess is with tourist visa or visa exempt. Obtained a non O later? If that's the case, then sure covid extensions no problem. Which immigration office. -
90 Days on Arrival for Tourist?
DrJack54 replied to TomMc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct. The "bonus" 15 days was added to visa exempt entry. No added days to tourist visa entry. Think the 15 day bonus ended Sept last year? -

I have read a report of an immigration office charging 500b for instant issue (can't recall the office). Bangkok is 200b and it's posted out. No instant service available. -

Pretty vicious reply to fella stating an opinion If your so sure of your options why start a thread. The poster asked if uj can give his opinion. -
OP, what type of visa. Can't imagine why agent would be needed at Saigon. Small office and efficient. No flexibility. Need to meet requirements. As far as assistance from agent just walk around Bui Vien district 1 and every travel agent can assist. Seriously not required. Apply am and pick up after lunch break next day. Ripper Thai consulate. BTW...if you overlook any required photocopy etc there are travel joints across the road that provide service.

Thanks yet again. Had trade guy come today and he deals with most upgrades and maintenance here. He intends to replace the worst overhead cabinet. Also we have patio above the kitchen and identified water leak. Going to seal that and attend to cabinet. 4000baht total. BTW thanks for warning. I was going to load up with the stuff I sent pic.

90 Days on Arrival for Tourist?
DrJack54 replied to TomMc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The 60 days for you would apply if you obtain tourist visa. For 68 day stay you have 2 options. Obtain tv and then after entry obtain 30 day extension = 90 days. The other option is to just fly in visa exempt and be given 30 day stamp. Then obtain 60 day extension to visit wife = 90 days. My choice would be the latter. -
90 Days on Arrival for Tourist?
DrJack54 replied to TomMc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Tourist Visa gives you a 60 day stamp. That can be extended by 30 days. Perhaps that's where your confusion arose. Is your wife Thai national. After you arrive you can obtain 60 day extension to visit wife. That's after the 30 extension to your tourist visa. How long do you wish to stay? -
Think that the "cocktail" to achieve a one year plus stay is mixed. I sometimes think that your first and maybe even second entry is perhaps best visa exempt via air. For example first entry exempt from own country or wherever is best idea. Then repeat with a bounce via air. My choice would be Saigon. After that for entry via air a tourist visa good idea. Eventually time for the land entries be that TV or exempt. Farang don't harm the country and bring support for Thai business Snap just now in Bearing. Not one farang in sight.

Hi, just to confirm...
DrJack54 replied to Drew3223's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Don't really follow the OP question. Past threads indicate that there is no fine for one day....... However if there is a fine that means there is a fine. Pay it. -
You can't obtain METV unless your a permanent resident where you currently are. Next ...just obtain a tourist visa each and extend so 60 + 30. After that just do what all the other nomads do Few border bounce with visa exempt entry and extend each one by 30. Two per calendar year. Time it right and you can obtain 2 back to back by another 2. One year is a walk in the park. Land borders open by the time you will require them.
