As uj stated ...there have been Many folk returning with reentry permits or visas (eg non O) that allow various permission of stay. In case of a non O-A that would be 12 months. They have taken out covid insurance with 30 day coverage without issue. I understand the concern. The very vague statement something like..."insurance to cover intended length of stay" was confusing to say the least.

When you apply for your next extension you would need to show bank book records satisfying the requirements from previous extension.. That being ...800k for 3 months post extension then not below 400k and back up to 800k prior to next application. To switch to income method you would need to start those income deposits for 2 months prior to your next application. Obviously there is an overlap. I suggest taking the bank deposit back up to 800k 2 months prior to next extension just in case their is an issue with immigration..

TM 30 new house owner.
DrJack54 replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Think some will advise you to do a new TM30. Personally I would do nothing. Your address is on file with immigration. Just continue to use that address for your 90 reports and extension. If io requires a lease etc for extension then you would need to make a TM30. I have never done a TM30. Mind you same address for 10 yr. -
TM 30 new house owner.
DrJack54 replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What do you give io when you obtain extension in the way of TM30. -
You can do your 90 report from anywhere in Thailand using online or mail. TM30 is only needed to change your address on file. You can even exit and reenter Thailand without doing a TM30. Unless you reenter on new visa or visa exempt. Reentry Permit or same visa = no TM30. I've done several from another province

Perhaps little off topic as not directly related to Thailand Pass however from reading threads it seems many folks are arriving visa exempt. A USA couple I met arrive VE and had 30 day insurance. Since then have obtained a 30 day extension and currently on covid extension. The wife contracted covid and in quarantine in hotel. The husband in separate room and testing every day. Different story for those of us that live in Thailand as we can isolate in our own place be that rented or owned. Someone posted earlier that travel to Thailand currently as a tourist is crazy. I tend to agree. Message of USA couple attached. perhaps of interest to some tourists.

Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's exactly correct. With ample funds you can do it by yourself. The process is simple walk in the park using money in bank method. Sometimes the funds have a issue for some. Could be as simple as fell below the requirements due to error or just plain not have required funds or prefer not to have in Thai bank.. Use of agent is completely fine. Ignore those that post tripe to the contrary. Always use a well know company.. -
Thai pass insurance query
DrJack54 replied to HKexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You have it covered. Just adding for others. You did not need to book a throw away ticket close to 30 days. In hindsight onward flight after day 20 days would have avoided counting exact #of days. BTW the ticket does not to be return. Any onward flight will suffice. For anyone flying visa exempt and looking at throw away, recently flights to PP and KL approx 1600baht. -
Thai pass insurance query
DrJack54 replied to HKexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your non O marriage will mean that you will be stamped into Thailand for 90 days. Some folk purchase insurance to cover that period. Some folk have used 30 day cover. That has also worked. Once in Thailand extentions do not require covid insurance.. The non O-A extentions require health insurance however that's not your concern, having a non O. BTW you do not require onward flight as you have a visa. -
OP, your possibly referring to visa exempt entry? 30 day stamp for many countries. In any event you will require a Thailand Pass and various other requirements. All the details are in the Many threads. There is also a covid forum.

First up, yes it's possible to open bank account with tourist visa however not straight forward. In my case the most recent account that I opened involved lot of running around despite me being on annual extensions and a non O in my pp. I first dealt with Bangkok Bank and they wanted a residence certificate or something from embassy. A residence certificate obtained in Bangkok requires you to have done a 90 day report. Not possible for those arriving on visa exempt or tv. The use of agent is good option.

Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Indeed an agent might have better luck obtaining the covid extension. Depending on how long you wish to stay another option would be to use agent to obtain 12 month extension based on retirement. ~15k -
That's way off the price from my recollection. Hopefully someone can post personal experience. The io only wants a bank account. Nothing more. Edit:...just went through my pm mail. Here is clip from fella that used KeyVisa for bank account... "Key Visa - Bank account with BKK bank opposite their office. Cost 4000 bht". Think Siam Legal was 4,800 from memory.
-
Indeed it can be difficult. Chap I know used Siam Legal. Was happy with the service. The ground work was done while he was in isolation. That company uses Bangkok Bank and as banks go that's a popular one with expats. Sorry cannot recall price but was not expensive. You could try Kasikorn without agent as some reports that they have been flexible. The banks (some) want a residence certificate. That's an issue in Bangkok since they want a 90 day report to have been done. You can obtain statement at your embassy (not all). IMO use an agent.

Thai pass insurance query
DrJack54 replied to HKexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just take out a policy for how it's offered by the insurance company. Be that one month or 30 days. Doesn't need to match your throw away flight. That ticket is for the airline to issue boarding pass. -
House number change
DrJack54 replied to overherebc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Years back we changed rooms in same condo. I had reason to do a 90 report in person and mentioned this to the io. I didn't need to do a TM30. This was at MTT Aug 2020. -
Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How did you arrive at the 50%.. You had a non O after entry, the fact is that you can obtain a retirement extension. The IO may suggest that you have an option. -
