VISA EXTENSION BASED ON MARRIAGE
DrJack54 replied to sidleonard's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You mention applying for the non O marriage in USA and subsequent extension in Thailand. For extensions the funds do not need to be shown to have come from abroad. Even if you obtained the non O in Thailand the money being transferred from your joint account to account in your name would not be an issue. Bit unrelated but discuss with your bank that your wife can be a signatory to your account without her name being listed on the account. This is useful. As already pointed out several times you require a Thai bank account in your name. The more simple option is to use money in bank method. That would require 400k in bank for 2 months prior to application for extension plus best to keep in bank during the under consideration period (approx 1 month). The funds can then be used. Income method is another option. Note it's not average. It must be 40k+ per month. -
Retirement v Marriage Visa
DrJack54 replied to Kevin1908's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well that simple statement sums it up. As you are already in Thailand you have few options to extend your stay. You can obtain a 30 day extension to your visa exempt entry. You can also obtain a 60 day extension "to visit Thai wife". You can also do a border bounce to obtain a visa exempt entry 45 days. That can be extended by 30 days. The rest of your post is just random confusion. In the future you can obtain a non O marriage and annual extensions. That can be done from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry. The most straight forward option is money in the bank. In simple terms that requires 400k to be in the bank for 2 months plus approx 1 month under consideration period, so all up approx 3 months per year. That money can then be used. Simple easy requirements. Your first step this trip would be to open a bank account in your name. -
My post was referring to opening a bank account in BANGKOK. Also @tonray rather than a laugh emoji outline recent experience of opening a bank account in Bangkok with a tourist visa or visa exempt.

Disregard all the above posts.. If you are planning to open bank account with visa exempt or tourist visa at Bangkok then you will require an agent.

Retirement visa/extension, the small print
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Big problem in Bangkok as a residence certificate is often required and that's not possible on visa exempt. The process of visa exempt to non O retirement and subsequent extension is very common. I suggest an agent for the bank account component. They tend to use Bangkok Bank. -
Retirement visa/extension, the small print
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Almost all agents can do non O retirement and subsequent extension using the clients money in the bank etc. That will cost less than an agent doing the non O and extention without any funds in the bank. With an aging expat community think your inquiry will become common question. -
VOA after overstay
DrJack54 replied to Steven mason's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can obtain a 30 day extension to the visa exempt entry for 1900baht. So 75 days all up. Sweet deal. -

OP, you mean reenter visa exempt. No problem and yes can do same day. BTW you will receive a 45 day stamp. -
VISA EXTENSION BASED ON MARRIAGE
DrJack54 replied to sidleonard's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That would not be a problem. Since you have funds available I suggest the money in bank method is a good option. The 400k baht only needs to be in your account on the day you obtain the non O in Thailand and for annual extensions for two months prior to application. After final stamp is given the funds can be used/withdraw as you wish. -

The io will not be interested with onward flight. The airline at departure may wish to see onward flight. -

OK for me 2 weeks ago. You could reset your password. That option is at bottom of sign in page. -
Retirement visa/extension, the small print
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As always you never address your incorrect posts when pointed out. There is a list of requirements to obtain an extension based on retirement. Some offices are more straightforward that others. I'm personally doing one in October. Already getting some paperwork together. Such as lease etc. That of course is apart from obtaining such things as bank letter etc etc. Fortunately at CW I am able to make an appointment. Even with a 10.30am appointment I will arrive 1+ hour early. The banking will take 30+ minutes. For the appointment you need to be 15 minutes early. After the appointment you then need to wait. Could be up to an hour. Might be wrong but think Jomtien makes you return next day. To post a throw away line that it takes 15 minutes is simplistic in the extreme. -

This thread is about extensions based on retirement. Cannot ever recall that being done in 15 minutes. -
seasoning on Retirement 800K
DrJack54 replied to Scouse123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not what the OP is asking. He can withdraw down to 400k three months after application for extension and back up to 800k two months prior to his next extension. -
exempt to Non-O retirement in Pattaya
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You have 3 options. Use and agent to assist opening account. Obtain residence certificate from immigration (not possible in Bangkok) Obtain equivalent from your embassy (if they supply letter). -
400k bahts seasonning : 2 months or 3 months ?
DrJack54 replied to morphem's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Which immigration office -
It's always open and if unattended immigration staff will round someone up. At DMK the office is just past immigration. You can see the office from passport control. At BKK the office past security and before immigration. Zone 2. Reentry permit is quick process at both airports. Personally I like to have the TM8 form all filled in with photo, fee etc all done prior to trip to airport.

exempt to Non-O retirement in Pattaya
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, you will also need letter from bank verifying your ownership and balance of 800k+ on day of application. Immigration would also require a TM30 or lease. Someone that deals with Jomtien will confirm what they require. Also be aware that you require 15 days+ remaining on your permission of stay when you apply. -
Divorce and NON-O extension
DrJack54 replied to stoicccc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You overlooked part of my statement "living in Thailand ongoing" A non Ed gives you a year. Tourist visas and visa exempt perhaps another year ... I'm typing about 8 years not a couple. You seem aware of few options so work out what's best for you.
