  1. I didn't even think of PE visa. Perhaps because the OP mentioned first up that he is 53. You sound very happy with your choice of visa and that's really all that counts.. Just by way of balance, I can assure anyone that following path of non O retirement then annual extensions is bullet proof option. You would be well aware that with PE you still need annual "extension" (not same requirements) also 90 day reports, though I believe that can be done for you. In a nutshell I see little benefits for those 50+. Ripper option for the under 50 group.
  2. The immigration officer was wrong. The person you referred to should either take it up with that immigration office or apply at a different one where he will be able to obtain a non O from tourist visa. Also we don't know full details of this account of this random guy. You have a link for this report?
  3. The OP, did not mention agents. True it's an option. I often recommend use of agents when there is no other choice. Example, when someone cannot meet financial requirements for one reason or another. With forward planning there is no need for an agent.
  4. I think thats good advice. I'm somewhat biased on this. Seems low cost carriers are more strict. We often fly Bangkok to Japan (AirAsia) Even with boarding pass for Thai partner they carefully count the days against return flight to allow entry to waiting lounge. Thai are allowed 15 day visa exempt to Japan. Without onward flight she simply will not be able to board flight.
  5. OP, the process is simple and the annual extensions straightforward. To live in Thailand ongoing forget about obtaining a non O-A in your own country. Your path is to obtain a non O visa based on retirement. This can be obtained in Thailand after entry via visa exempt or tourist visa. Can also be obtained outside of Thailand. The non O gives you a 90 day permission of stay. In that period you obtain a 12 month extension. After that every year you obtain new extension. The main requirement is money in Thai bank account or monthly income method. Both a simple however money in the bank is preferred option imo. Welcome to Thailand. BTW nonsense such as 90 day reports etc are easily done via online or mail. Personally been here for several years and visit immigration once per year. Use appointment system and it's a walk in the park.. One added tip: if you can afford to just place 800k in a Thai bank and just leave it then that makes it even more simple.
  6. I agree. Does sweet all. I renew my DL this year and will need to go to MTT for residence certificate. Haven't changed address in 10 years. Not good enough. Run into folk that have pink card and wear it like a trophy. Useless in my book.
  7. I don't have personal experience (not married), but I suggest you don't be too concerned about immigration office. For all extensions it seems from many threads that income method sometimes has an issue. Your using money in bank. That requirement is clear. Other than that you won't have an issue. Just choose to live where it suits you and wife.
  8. What is your point. At departure you may or may not be required to show onward flight. Many airlines are very strict about this. Some it seems are flexible. I recommend in public forum to have an onward flight at boarding check in departure.
  9. The agent knows nothing in it for him for your friend to obtain 30 day extension. That's why he tried to trick. If your friend obtains his 30 day extension, then depending on his dates, may be able to obtain a 60 covid extension prior to March 26.
  10. Can you clarify exactly what your doing/planning. Seems you placed the 800k in the account to obtain the non O then leave it there in order to cover the 2 months seasoning period for the extension. The next step I'm not clear about. So then start with the 65k monthly income. Have I read this incorrectly.
  11. Many offices give under consideration stamp for covid extension as per the OP. Under consideration also given for annual extensions based on marriage. The paperwork forwarded to another office. Standard procedure.
  12. Read the OP. Hasn't really clarified how long he wants to stay in Thailand. Tourist Visa with Extension will give 90 days. Any talk about visa slash border runs is irrelevant. Land borders closed and not lot of detail what may open. Reference to border runs slightly silly at this point.
  13. Stop. I have flown from Thailand to Oz twice every year for last 10 years and during that time have also flown return to Vietnam every month for several years. Have dealt into this with airline staff as it's often mentioned on AseanNow. Please post things that are water tight re flying visa exempt. I can assure you that it's often a requirement to have onward flight. Time for ignore another random. Indeed my most recent flight from Melb to Saigon with a tourist visa to Vietnam was held up at check in Melb due to fact that only had 5 days validity. Airline wanted onward flight even with a visa. I was able to show onward to Bangkok with 3 day stay in Vietnam. Please post fact Your info is misleading.
  14. Think you have previously posted this re no onward flight required. Think you mentioned Thai airways (not sure). It often depends on the carrier. Jetstar for just one example along with AirAsia will 100% require onward flight. I find your posts often poor advice.
  15. Cannot. No big deal. Start over when you enter next time. No way would anyone return just to obtain extension.
  16. They told you wrong. Why aren't you entitled to a covid extension. Their issue was extended to March 26. (Seems those that entered non O not entitled). Consult an agent in udon Thani to obtain you one. Alternatively use agent in Khon Kaen. Obviously cost extra, however better than waisting time with dumb and dumber immigration offices/officers.
  17. OP, read this post above I quoted twice as it's the correct advice. The airline at departure may/will require an onward flight if flying visa exempt. It's never asked for on arrival at passport control.
  18. That is correct. Require 400k in Thai bank to obtain non O marriage. Seems your wanting to obtain a ME marriage from Savannakhet which does not have funds in bank requirement. As mentioned above....that's a difficult path. Not even sure if Savannakhet is providing that visa currently. If over 50 you could consider an agent for non O retirement and extension. I assume you entered Thailand on a visa exempt or tourist visa? Keep in mind that you only require the 400k in bank for few months .
  19. Seems you have an under consideration stamp. Just return and you will be given balance of your 60 day covid extension.
  20. How did you last enter Thailand. You could obtain non O marriage at Thai immigration if you meet the requirements. Travel to Savannakhet is impractical.
  21. Land borders closed. If you exit eg fly to Phnom Penh then to return you will need to do same process as when you entered Thailand previously. TG, insurance etc. You could try for covid extension since you entered on a tourist visa.
