Here is my take based on my experience. When applying for visa (eg tourist visa) an onward flight is NOT required by embassy/consulate. Nor is one required by the airline. An inbound flight IS required for application. Note that it assists airline check in staff if you can direct them to your visa or reentry permit. If flying visa exempt an onward flight IS required by the airline for boarding. Upon arrival an onward flight at immigration would not be asked for (can be but won't). Note, border exits do not satisfy airline. Folk will say that they have flown visa exempt without onward flight. Yes it can happen with some airlines. Generally not.

Tourist Covid Extension + 90-Day-Reporting?
DrJack54 replied to zackebuh's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What visa did you have previously. Tourist Visa? -
I think that makes sense. Here is para from Pattaya News. Again just one person's take on it. ......."Apart from routine business such as 90 day reports, the last week of the month also sees the expiration of the special 60-days Covid visas for tourists unable or unwilling to return home. These are currently available until late next month. It is not known if the discretionary permits might be renewable after that time. It could depend on whether the land borders reopen for tourist traffic".

Tourist Covid Extension + 90-Day-Reporting?
DrJack54 replied to zackebuh's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I assume you entered on tourist visa or visa exempt and are now obtaining 60 day covid extensions. 90 day reporting is not required. -
Surprised by above two replies. Yes it's guess work, however covid extensions are due to stop late November which is not far away. Land borders look very unlikely to be open prior to that time. Only an opinion but my money would firmly on covid extensions being extended for 2 more months past late Nov.

Visa Exempt & Visa Extension
DrJack54 replied to frequent's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How long do you wish to stay. Assume your under 50. -
To obtain a covid extension in Bangkok all you needed regarding where your staying is a TM30. Easily done as has already been mentioned. Your experience of..."being forced to stay in a cottage for 60 days...." in order to obtain a covid extension, I put down to being poorly informed. Folk obtaining covid extensions are not required to have a 2 month lease.

90 day reporting and cor in BKK.
DrJack54 replied to swbaggies's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. They will say..."up to 2 weeks" More likely to be one week" currently. They send it EMS you receive tracking number. If it's for drivers license plan on 2 weeks to be 100% Good your landlord did the TM30. Ask him for print out of his lodgement receipt. -
90 day reporting and cor in BKK.
DrJack54 replied to swbaggies's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
90 day report at Muang Thong Thani. The residence certificate is done there also. Do your 90 report first. Go down stairs and photocopy it and then back up for residence certificate. They post that out within 2 weeks. 200baht. Here is thread with good directions and information. https://aseannow.com/topic/1208584-mtt-90-day-report-experience/ Note OP, you state "new to Bangkok"......you will need to have done a TM30 for change of address. -
What is the best way?
DrJack54 replied to phuketcouple's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Enter visa exempt. 30 day stamp. Since 800k in bank already then you can obtain non O (retirement) quickly. That gives you a 90 day stamp. Apply for 12 month extension based on retirement. -

How strict is immigration currently?
DrJack54 replied to buknecerze's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Don't get me wrong. Didn't doubt your account one bit. All I could come up with was something such as a more experienced io giving some advice/tips to less experienced guy. Pre covid I was flying constantly to Vietnam and back. Have dealt with couple of green horns. Have had to show one or two where my reentry permit was. The heads up should be the TM6. Good they let you in to the promised land.
