Thai health minister backs cannabis ban, citing surge in teen usage

My good buddy is a grower, he's invested over $1M US in his operation. I advised him not to do it. Why should him growing weed affect our friendship? I am not anti-weed. He can afford to lose his investment, we're both wealthy guys and we discussed other ex-pats like myself going in with him and I advised against that too in case it goes South, as it looks like it might. As I said before, I am not against recreational use of cannabis subject to some safeguards. Those safeguards don't currently exist in Thailand. As for gaslighting, Anutin himself said recreational use is illegal, whether the current framework of the law reflects that, I can't say, I don't know what other laws he was referring to. I only call people out when they make erroneous statements like Cannabis is not addictive, it's ok for adolescents, it's safe, it doesn't cause psychoses or violence. -
Remove mole from male genitals in Chiang Mai - where?
JBChiangRai replied to Aurelien's topic in Health and Medicine
On a serious note, I see a skin doctor at the Government Hospital in Chiang Rai every 6 months for liquid nitrogen treatment on anything pre-cancerous. He did remove some moles for me at the same time. Typical cost per visit 100-500 baht, never more than that. -

Try a google search "Cannabis Adolescent Brain", it lowers IQ permanently. -
Is there a cheap and safe way to reduce 12v DC to 8v DC 5 amps
JBChiangRai replied to Kenny202's topic in DIY Forum
If you can’t find 8v then 9v is probably ok. -

You're gaslighting. It's not harmless. It may be harmless to you but it's not harmless to anyone with a predisposition to mental illness. -
I gave DM's as an example. I believe they are wanting to close the deferred remittance loophole and I said that in one of the first few posts when this hit the press last week. I gave an example of how the Thai owner of a Thai company could use his own consultancy company in the UK to siphon off all the profit from Thailand, he then invoices personally for consultancy to his co. in the UK the same amount, and 1st January following remits the whole sum to himself personally. No tax paid by Thai company, no tax paid by UK company, no tax paid by Thai individual - all completely legal. What they do will be impossible to make work, but it gives them the right to challenge the Thai individual on arrival of overseas funds to prove tax was paid. They are likely to apply it to all nationalities if funds arriving from a tax haven and the sum is over a certain amount if they are suspicious.

Looks like my Cyberster won't get a discount, I am sure it's going to be >2M baht. -
Thai health minister backs cannabis ban, citing surge in teen usage

And therein lies the problem. Removed from the narcotic list but the minister who did it says it's illegal to use it recreationally at the same time. But he never specified how it was illegal, probably it isn't but as a successful business guy, that would have ruled me out of investing. -

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
JBChiangRai replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You made a fair comment. I had in mind the MG Cyberster as an example, I don't know which countries they plan to launch it in RHD, I only read about UK & Thailand originally. The countries you mention mostly have different buying patters, Malaysia won't be buying electric vehicles yet because of subsidised petrol, Thailand leads the way in EV take up in Asia so that leaves Australia which has recently been confirmed as getting the car. UK is fairly key to the Cyberster. -
Thai health minister backs cannabis ban, citing surge in teen usage

They are "already" choosing to close, it's market dynamics, supply & demand, there is oversupply and not enough demand. Normally, this would result in price compression, Thailand is the only country I know where if something doesn't sell, they don't drop the price, often they raise it. The shops and growers knew they were taking a risk and exploiting a loophole, Anutin himself was pretty clear when he removed it from the narcotic list that recreational use remained illegal. You have to be pretty stupid to invest in a loophole when the minister who creates it issues the warning at the same time. Why would anyone compensate a stupid person? -

JBChiangRai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why should they close them down or even compensate them? They can continue to sell what is legal and if they can't make money they can choose to close (already happening judging by the number shutting down in Chiang Rai). -

Actually, Elon doesn't smoke weed. He did once on a podcast in 2018 but for the following year passed random drug tests at Space X. He's also on record as saying Weed is not good for productivity. -
I think the issue is going to be where the incoming transfer of funds came from. Is it a country where it's likely no tax was paid? if it is the tax people here may want their pound of flesh. There is no way they are going to be happy with a Digital Nomad working here, billing his work from a tax haven tax free and then transferring that money into Thailand. Currently, you can be tax resident here and transfer that money for last year on 1st January this year and no tax is payable. I am fairly sure this is the loophole they want to close.

Cannabis Network Gives Health Minister A Warning

If you had read my posts you would have known that I am not against cannabis for recreational use (with certain safeguards on age and restrictions on operating a motor vehicle), so you can hardly say I believe "drugs bad". -
Cannabis Network Gives Health Minister A Warning

Oh, you were there at the court hearings when I was a magistrate were you? How remiss of me not to notice you. You probably noticed the expert medical assessments we sought before sentencing too as you noticed those lawyers. Are you a Q-Anon conspiracist? You don't seem to like facts and figures from scientific and organised research much preferring and trusting your own conspiracy theories. Of course, you know better than law enforcement and the medical profession concerning drug driving, I should have realised that. I suggest we immediately discard all the scientific research on cannabis and driving under the influence and instead trust Bday Prang to tell us reality and set the law. You have sunk to the bottom from your original well thought out, although highly biased piece. Perhaps you were stoned when you wrote this? -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand
JBChiangRai replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I take your point, but everything done by the EU & especially the UK will affect which EV's are available in Thailand. Nobody is going to make all their vehicles available in RHD just for Thailand. -
Yes it would. Some people confuse the second stage with flu and assume the spots are a rash, too late by the time it gets to the tertiary phase.
-
Syphilis is often missed during it's first stage, the chancre may or may not be visible. Lyme disease is from the same family of bacteria (spirochetes).
-
Yes, very good value, though I would go for the i3 7th Gen as it's the one with 4K graphics support for replaying movies (6th Gen will max out the CPU and stutter).
