I have a 76 year old lady friend who has an MG4 X-Power, she lives off grid and can't charge at home. She doesn't find it onerous popping into PTT and fast-charging whilst she has a coffee in Amazon roughly once a week. Whether you even need a charger at home depends on your lifestyle, but if you can charge at home it's far more convenient than wasting 5 hours a year filling up with dino juice.

Meanwhile, according to Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, some 1898 fires in 2019 were from petrol and diesel vehicles and 54 were from EVs. Another study by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency found that EVs are 20 times less likely to catch fire than ICE cars. An additional study by that agency and an American insurer found that just 25 out of 100,000 EVs suffer fire damage. By comparison, 1530 per 100,000 ICE cars experience fire, and hybrid vehicles suffer a much higher risk of 3475 per 100,000. How much of a fire risk are electric vehicles? | Autocar Hybrids reflected the most at 3,475 fires per 100,000 vehicles. This is most likely because hybrids utilize two powertrains. ICE vehicles caught fire substantially less often, at 1,530 incidents per 100,000 vehicles. EV fires were significantly lower than the others, with 25 fires per 100,000 vehicles. So of the approximately two million EVs on U.S. roads, less than two out of a 1,000 will catch fire. Per AutoinsuranceEZ, ICE vehicles are more than 60 times more likely to catch fire than an EV, while hybrids are more than 130 times more likely to catch fire than an EV. https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/are-electric-vehicles-more-likely-to-catch-on-fire/ If you simply google EV fire statistics, you will find lots of links all confirming what I said. You're ignorance shines like a beacon in a sea of numptitude.

I think you may have forgotten that EV's are between 12 and 130 times LESS likely to catch fire than an ICE car. FORD, you're making me laugh, try a serious EV manufacturer like BYD or Tesla.

Your information is very outdated. There are at least 3 high speed DC chargers on Koh Samui which is probably 3 more than you are likely to need. I do not know of any PHEV that takes anything approaching 8 hours to charge. Most full EV's are typically charged in 5 or 6 hours. It is extremely rare to charge from 0% to 100% and on the mainland there is a plethora of fast DC chargers.

I think it’s going to take some time for all the manufacturers to iron out the bugs in their software.

Now starting: Chiang Mai Expats Dining Group
JBChiangRai replied to Old Curmudgeon's topic in Chiang Mai
There is one running in Chiang Rai into it’s 7th or 8th year, it meets 2nd Thursday of each month and is an open invitation to everyone. It usually gets between 10 and 25 attendees and is at lots of different restaurants. Often some kind of special deal is organized. It’s a great way for new residents to meet people and tell each other lies. My advice would be to open it up to everyone. -
It seems you can be damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Some companies will ask you if you’ve ever had such and such a test, and if you have, they won’t cover you for the disease even though the test was negative.

And much thanks for being spokesperson for WrLife

Oh silly me, that’s alright then. And there was me thinking the other reason someone might do it was to keep all the premiums and get rich.

Adopting an adult 20 years or older just needs the adopter to sign with his wife (or prove single/divorced), no biological parent involvement at all.

Yes, it can be done, I have done it. It can be a little bit torturous, but it can be done.

Leaving a legacy to an incompetent adult - how?

There is something similar, it is called controller of property. Speak to Lawyer about controller of property, he may have to look it up unless he’s a busy Lawyer. -
Is old age one of them?

If you don’t charge to 100% regularly the SoC displayed will get increasingly less accurate as the BMS attempts to calculate based on power in and out and it will drift in one direction. The battery voltage vs SoC curve gets very steep above 90’something% and below 10%. I think the purpose of BYD’s instructions is to recalibrate the BMS. It’s not to prolong the life of the battery. The worst behavior for battery longevity is to keep it charged close to 100%, ie what some people call ABC, always be charging. I used to do that until I watched the EE video.
-
Between approximately 50% and 80% a lithium iron cell has almost a flat voltage, so it’s very difficult for the BMS to tell what the state of charge is in that range, the purpose of taking it up to 100% is to record that significant 100% voltage peak and know that the batteries fully charged so it can recalculate the SoC. I think the purpose of taking it below 10% is for it to be able to calculate the capacity of the battery pack, which probably happens as you recharge it, it counts the coulombs going into the pack and knows the capacity and state of health.
-
I don’t believe BYD balances the cells only at high SoC, I think it has active balancing and balances the cells at any state of charge continuously, probably even when the car is off. The only cars I know that use passive balancing at the end of the charge period are MG.

It also depends on your nationality, if you’re American it will be very difficult. BitKub wants identity and proof of address (blue book), Check out the website and see if you can do anything with a lower transaction limit.

What exactly do you want to do? There is full income tax payable on the sale of crypto or on the profits on crypto depending where you bought if sold on a Thai exchange.

Is this normal amount of oil usage for Porsche Macan?
JBChiangRai replied to wprime's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
My Porsche Taycan never took any oil in the two years I owned it. 🙂 -
it’s too slow, my EV does 0 to 100 in 3.8 seconds

I'm flabbergasted, you can count Ralfyboi !

Come on you anti-EV'ers, wake up & smell the coffee

It's illegal for any foreigner to work in this sector, there doesn't have to be payment made. The definition of work is anything paid or unpaid. It's not the average Joe's on here discussing things but it is any foreigner soliciting business or giving professional advice. A foreigner acting as a tax adviser would be an illegal activity.

No Cobalt in my EV, or my daughter’s EV, or any BYD EV.
