  1. I know precisely what I have written and I have read your baseless slur Brian.
  2. Why is that a concern to Israel? The international journalists are presumably not Israeli.
  3. Agreed one side is a terrorist group with zero morals and a history of committing heinous acts. The other side is engaged in a war that includes, as all wars do, a propaganda campaign. Observing that statements by either are not to be trusted is not offering an apology or excusing anyone or anything. It certainly does not deserve the slurs you so readily reach for.
  4. Its a very effective means of controlling the news.
  5. Brian you accused me of being a Hamas apologist. You have no basis for doing so, I have never offered any apology or excuse for Hamas and for what I have consistently referred to as their heinous acts of terrorism.
  6. The IDF has duty not to kill journalists, it doesn’t ga e a duty to take them by the hand and walk them around Gaza.
  7. I did not claim any ‘moral equivalence’ nor did I offer any apology for Hamas.
  8. Is Israel an Occupying Force in Gaza? Giving you the opportunity to confirm your statement as contrary to the claims made by Israel or in agreement with the ICJ?
  9. I suggest caution in the use of the term ‘occupying force’ it’s a status that comes with significant binding duties under international law. Which is probably why contrary to your claim Israel says it is no longer an occupying the Gaza Strip, though to your credit your statement is in agreement with the ICJ: https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/menasource/gaza-israel-occupied-international-law/ https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/jul/22/the-icj-has-demolished-israels-claims-that-it-is-not-occupying-palestinian-territories
  10. It might be argued that the last thing the IDF and Netanyahu /Hamas want is journalists providing cover of stuff the IDF and Netanyahu/Hamas don’t want the rest of the world to see. I don’t find either side credible, they are both engaged in manipulation of the truth. I doubt any claims of concern for the safety of journalists from two sides of a war that have both shown such disregard for lives of innocent civilians.
  11. It’s not Israeli territory, so there is no basis Israel to decide press access beyond the ‘might is right doctrine’. Nor does the IDF have any roll in protecting anyone beyond Israel’s boarders. And yes like every other war in which reporter access is restricted.
  12. However, the international press are not being permitted access by Israel to report directly from Gaza. So these claims of ‘free press’ are a little hollow.
  13. Nothing that changes my, already posted, first opinion.
  14. My very first post in this thread addressed what she said.
  15. I chose the term absurd with absolute understand of its meaning. I have explained the deep historical and cultural context of the working class culture Badenoch absurdly claims to have joined.
  16. Having taken part in this discussion last week I noticed something this weekend. On Sunday I was a competitor in a Thailand Cycling Association race. First off, absolutely faultless first class event organization. What chimed was the nutrition sponsors and for two reasons. Firstly all competitors received free gels and energy drinks. I didn’t use either as I don’t ’adopt’ anything new on race day. Secondly all competitors were automatically signed up for the event social media campaign which has morphed into the sponsor’s social media campaign. The sports nutrition products they were promoting at the event were all ‘high glycemic index’ simple carbohydrates laced with caffeine. There are arguments for and against these sports nutrition products in endurance sports, but here’s the rub. Since the event I’ve been receiving social media adverts for these products that promote them for normal use, the association with sports being used as an indication of their ‘healthy’ attributes. This is exactly the kind of marketing that needs to be addressed, these products have contested place in sports nutrition but certainly do not belong in general non sports nutrition.
  17. I have a great deal more. I have outlined the deep historical and cultural context of working class culture. It’s not something to be temporarily donned while working in McDonalds or, as many middle class students do, while living in student accommodation in cheap working class neighborhoods.
  18. I got the impression the thinks she’s already a member.
  19. Well the claim to have become ‘working class’ is absurd, but I think we have established she might have been talking about some other working class.
  20. Well maybe she wasn’t referring to becoming a member of the British working class. That might make more sense.
  21. I think, but do check, when Badendoch claimed to have been converted to being ‘working class’ she was referring to British working class, something that is defined by a shared deep historical and cultural roots within British social history. I don’t think access to running water, let alone private schools, in Nigeria is amongst those shared historical and cultural roots of the British working class.
  22. Says a guy who doesn’t even understand the my Jarvis Cocker reference. I’ll wager you have zero understanding of British working class culture.
