  1. I wonder then how you know what they won’t come out and admit? The people of Palestine have a home, it’s called Palestine. There is no need to make refugees of these people. https://www.dw.com/en/which-countries-recognize-palestinian-statehood/a-69168152
  2. Not at all disingenuous. Trump has stated he will withhold all federal funding from, to quote the OP: This will undoubtedly wind up in the courts. So wondering what Trump’s definition of ‘illegal protests’ is far from ‘disingenuous’. There are after all already laws in place that address violence, undue obstruction, trespass etc. All of which are enforceable by police and the courts, not by universities.
  3. I wonder what constitutes an ‘illegal protest’?
  4. Are you mistaking professors marking students work and students receiving their marks as something else?
  5. I’ve lived and worked in the ‘Arab World’, I’ve never once come across any expression of this ‘universal dislike’ of Palestinians. That despite opinions on that particular part of the Middle East being frequently expressed.
  6. Once again the devil is in the details. Already failing businesses fail.
  7. If not Musk then any of the other billionaires and corporations that funded and back Trump. What is unfolding is the very same set of tactics used by the US Government in service to the oil industry over the past 130 years. The U.S. now needs rare earths, Trump is engaging in the same tactics previously used to secure access to oil and gas. This ultimately included deals to support tyrants in exchange for access to oil, bribery, corruption, forced regime changes and wars. So here we go again, Ukraine, Canada, Greenland - minerals and specifically rare earths.
  8. This isn’t a thing in the UK or indeed Denmark: https://www.abi.org/feed-item/health-care-costs-number-one-cause-of-bankruptcy-for-american-families
  9. Especially if you don’t have medical insurance or any welfare provisions for old age. I believe many Americans have absolutely no idea how poorly they are being served by their healthcare and welfare laws and policies.
  10. The US has been planning and prepared to fight WW3 in Europe before it ever reaches the U.S. Things have changed.
  11. That’s hyperbole, followed by an inflammatory personal attack. Forgive me for making a reasoned critique of your post.
  12. A distinction needs to be made on the term ‘on Public Property’, it’s referring to ‘on State Owned Property and Equipment’ The ‘ban’ does not impact the rights of individuals to display these symbols or wave these flags while in public places. To do so would be an infringement of the 1st Amendment.
  13. I like your idea of people who can’t afford housing that is compliant to building regulations having to sign away their rights to FEMA assistance in order to build cheep, and by the logic of your argument, at risk ‘homes’. It exposes your mindset of everything and anything for the rich, precariousness for the not rich. Thanks for sharing.
  14. To be of any use at all, Trump’s promises of security need to be printed on soft paper.
  15. Musk is also in the ‘space business’ and currently given reign to slash Federal spending. Nothing he says about NASA resides outside of his obvious conflicts of interest. The same obvious conflicts of interest the Trump administration has said do not exist. “If Elon Musk comes across a conflict of interest with the contracts and the funding that DOGE is overseeing, then Elon will excuse himself from those contracts. And he has, again, abided by all applicable laws,” Leavitt said during a press briefing. Corruption in plain sight. https://thehill.com/business/5136025-elon-musk-conflict-interest/
  16. She [Melania Trump] used the opportunity to advocate for the bill, which seeks to ensure that social media platforms remove non-consensual intimate images—including AI-generated deepfakes—within 48 hours of a victim’s request and take action to prevent the spread of duplicates. A cynic might think Melania, to use the idiom, has some ‘skin in the game’.
  17. Which would only apply if a British vessel picked them up.
  18. On the basis of your bizarre post above I suggest are playing.
  19. Where am stating wealth disparity isn’t an issue? Do you actually read posts or just reply to stories in your own head?
  20. I’m not at all convinced inheriting does anyone any good.
  21. I feel your pain Bro, but I doubt it hit the national GDP numbers.
  22. I’m not using it out of context. Perhaps you don’t understand the impact wealth distribution (not income disparity) is having on both UK and US society. Here’s an example: Millions of people on low incomes spend only on essentials, this low economic activity restricts economic growth. A small number of hugely wealthy individuals are buying assets, forcing up asset prices - farm land being a recently topical example. High asset prices are not producing wealth, they are removing money from actively being used on the economy, thereby restricting growth.
  23. It was great time for those who had mortgages, as wages rises deflated the debt.
