I have personal experience in the Fed workplace. The place where DOD workers gathered awaiting job assignment was extremely mismanaged. We would have hundreds of guys receiving hotel accommodations, food money and pay awaiting job assignment. If I waited for the main office to schedule mandatory training I could be waiting for months. All the while the guys in the field were overdue for relief. I only hope the worthless office personal are shaking in their boots.

An agent can obtain a super cheap Insurance policy for 3000 baht. I started with the OA, this was during covid and I couldn't leave Thailand to reset for 12 months. I used an agent who for 15,000 baht got my 12 month extension with a 3000 baht health insurance policy. I have since then switched to an O so no insurance policy needed. Like yourself I have a good international insurance policy from home country.

I expect better next time. I was rather disappointed.

Sizzler salads are OK now and again. If I lived in town and was single I can see making it more of a regular thing. The kid and I usually eat at one of the noodle joints. If old lady comes along we hit up the buffet joints, usually 600 baht each. The food courts are usually crowded with no seating. Not my favorite place to eat. I wouldn't bother having steak at Sizzler. I feel if you want a good steak you have to be willing to pay premium money. The buffet joints have great cut of beef as long as you don't mind cooking in broth.

You say corruption, here it's just business as usual. Pretty much any business transaction requires a bit of greasing palms.

I use the same method for monthly deposit extension. I think about it, not real concerned. Will change to US bank if hassled and perhaps start using an agent for extension.

Money goes easily when you don't budget. And I'm at a stage in life where I want to enjoy. But, I hear what you're saying about Thai families. You know if the kid needs clothes I toss the old lady 5K for the market. And so on. There's always something. Phones, ipads, service 2 cars.

My 110K baht/month deposit is spent pretty easily. 2 adults and a kid. The money doesn't include travel, school fees or insurance. No house or car payments. I spend freely and stopped trying to budget to much. A monthly trip to Makro is 12K easily. Some months I try to put 20K aside, but doesn't happen often. If I was single I'd be living large on 110K. But, with family not so much. Eating out usually means a seafood joint on the beach 1200-1500 baht for 3. I eat the 60 baht meals occasionally but not often, cook at home alot.

It's possible low testosterone individuals might hold such a view.
