    My usual weed vendor wasn't open yesterday so went to another place and was pleasantly surprised at the jars of 30 baht/gram. I don't smoke much, a few hits with a beer. I live in a non touristy beach location.

    That's a big part of it. Used to be a 1200 sq ft home was adequate for a family, now it has to be 3000 sq ft. Growing up I can count on one hand the times we went out to eat, no take out. Now it's a way of life.

    I'm in process of replacing a house that burnt down. A forking nightmare. The cost of licensed tradesman is beyond absurd. And, yes mine is rural property. Just to tap a well could run $50,000. In Calif, one reason is minimum wage in fast food is $20/hr so a person with skills is asking stupid money. I don't know, it seems hopeless.

    I had a new heating furnace switched to propane, the cost was $380. and I already had the new burners. One day's tractor work is $1000. It's crazy how Covid changed things here.

    I'm in the US at the moment dealing with one of my properties. The cost of home repair has reached a level of insanity. Just plain stupid. Thailand has many faults and I'll never consider it truly as my home but I love it there compared to the west. I'll be doing a home improvement in Thailand where no permit is required and the cost will be probably 10% of what it would cost me in the US.
