  1. A former boss of mine once said if a human has to wait for a computer, the software was written by fools. Opening a new tab or closing a redundant one in Linux/Firefox is a function of how fast I can move and click with a trackpad or mouse.
  2. I can't remember anything you posted that was not relentlessly negative.
  3. Can't you read? Sequential accounts are not multiple.
  4. I don't know about prettier. They would not have the cockleburrs and bindis of Aussie sheep, presumably less painful.
  5. My Scottish ancestry would be apoplectic. I have stayed in Hilton's on the company dime. Oddly enough, I did stay at a hotel in Udon Thani, 1100 baht in low season. IMO it was as good as any Hilton.
  6. FYI, there is a world patent with my name on it. I have published multiple papers in the fields of corrosion science, ion chromatography, and surfactant analysis. I have been a lead speaker at several scientific conferences. Feel free to keep making dumb assumptions about me.Your attempts at denigration are pathetic. I can't be bothered responding to the rest of your drivel, IMO you are senile.
  7. Currently paying 650 baht/night for a comfortable room close to Walking Street in Pattaya. Not that I find a big flesh market all that stimulating at my age. I don't believe in wasting money unnecessarily, but I suppose there will always be pretentious types who somehow think extravagance validates their existence. I did stay at a Sheraton in New York once on the company dime, $450 a night for a room much less clean than the one I am in now. My GF is enjoying herself too.
  8. My father worked for 40 years in a job he hated. It made me determined to work in something I enjoyed, and I did. If I could, I would still be working, albeit part-time. Corporations are dumb when they pass on years of experience, after investing in it.
  9. Exactly. There is a 23 year age difference between myself and my GF. I have no doubt at all she chose me for financial support. The love, trust and mutual consideration came later.
  10. I don't accept Bing as an authority over that of a sheep farmer. Although possibly he was pulling my leg.
  11. Enjoy it while you can, because that's all there is.
  12. Yes they do.The sheep in Oz also have cockleburrs and bindi-eyes.
  13. Rams have to service about 400 ewes a night, AFAIK goats have less demand. It's important to pace oneself according to one's capacity.
  14. One would hope you are not speaking from experience. In any case, you have the wrong country. It's Kiwis who have that reputation.
  15. I am wondering when the penny will drop with Americans that unbridled capitalism is doing them no favours, and mild socialism is not the evil most are conditioned to believe.
  16. It seems every American I have met in Thailand is quite scathing about their home country. Given the state of the political landscape, unsurprising.
  17. I don't have a problem with Dan's advice, except to say not all bar girls are bad. I spent some time in bars, and there were some who were in it as gold-diggers, others who were looking for a longer-term relationship. Dan may be right in asserting a pity element. My GF's support requirements are modest, and her honesty has passed the tests of it with flying colours.
  18. IMO the key to having a good relationship in Thailand is to never let anyone know how much you have, and leave at least 70% of your assets in your home country. My GF and I have been together for about ten years, there are success stories as well as the disasters.
  19. I don't know that it is, if the nom de plumes are sequential, not concurrent. Bring out the tar and feathers if it makes you feel better. BTW, how many times have you breached forum rules by repetitive posting and off topic?
  20. If you can find 399 posts of mine attacking you, I will bare my bum in the middle of Bangkok. There's probably 40 or 50 posts of mine which are in response to your harping and carping. Thanks for demonstrating yet again how accomplished you are at exaggeration.
  21. There are people on record who have overstayed for years. I guess Immigration catches up when there is a brush with another arm of government, or a disgruntled neighbour dobs them in.
  22. Some of your salary should have gone into a superannuation fund, which would be refunded when you left Australia. Unless you were not taxed in Australia.
  23. I am still confused over the two year rule in Australia. I had been overseas several times before qualifying for the OAP, my understanding was I had to be in Australia the day I became eligible, and have been resident for 35 years to get the full entitlement. I have no complaint about the pension. It may not be as generous as some; however, it is adequate for my life in Thailand.
  24. I don't know your circumstances. However, rents in Australia are presenting a choice to pensioners who don't own their own homes: To pay the rent, keep warm or cool, or eat.
