  1. That may have happened. Difficult to know from the OP, which is quite vague.
  2. The data says ICE fires are much more frequent than EV fires. However, it is possible to extinguish an ICE fire. The same cannot be said of a an EV fire, and the combustion products are considerably more toxic. You are making quite a good argument for avoiding the Rover brand.
  3. I find it difficult to believe she could have sustained the kind of serious head injuries alluded to in the OP if she had been wearing a helmet.
  4. What to you are the critical issues, and what would you be doing about them?
  5. A manual Celerio would be superior to the Neta in higher speed overtaking, as the Neta is a single speed gear. An automatic Celerio, CVT gearbox, probably less efficient. I'm just wondering how many people still drive manuals, pretty sure millennials would not have a clue unless they were driving older trucks or farm equipment. I like the fact manuals and torque box automatics give an alternative escape route if brakes fail. I am uncomfortable with CVT's for the same reason.
  6. Given the cost advantages you are getting from generating your own electricity, the last sentence is no surprise. You "took a small hit selling the only 2 yr old ICE version". It will be interesting to see what kind of hits are generated when secondhand EV's start coming on the market, as I suspect would-be buyers will be wondering how much battery is left.
  7. Short answer - it doesn't work.
  8. Why are you confused? We all are different, what turns your crank won't necessarily turn mine. Cold logic says a brand new car is possibly the worst financial decision anyone can make, short of taking up maxi yacht racing. In one sentence, depreciation as soon as said new vehicle rolls out of the show room floor. Some people get excited when they get a new car. I get excited when I can pick up a low mileage car for 200 - 250 K baht less than someone paid for it a couple of years ago. Perhaps off topic, I looked at renting an EV on an upcoming holiday. 2000 baht/day for a BYD vs 800 baht/day for a Nissan Almera, no thanks.
  9. To be fair, I doubt I would want to be driving a Celerio at top speed.
  10. Of course they would, there are always people who have to have the brightest new toy.
  11. I was just curious to see what it was. My point is like Detroit and the other places I referred to, best left in a hurry, going by appearances. I did remember the first name incorrectly.
  12. I am not sure what the correct spelling is. I have heard them referred to as bindi-eyes. If you stand on one, very painful. Much worse than a cockleburr.
  13. As you did not even know Murrum Bridge existed, or where it is located, there's no way you could know what it looks like. The experience of driving through there is like driving through Soweto , the Philadelphia projects, or mid-town Detroit. I'm assuming you have not done that, either.
  14. It would be interesting to know what percentage of people with blue eyes or blond hair are claiming Aboriginal ancestry.
  15. In my book, I buy cars, either new or used, that have an established reputation. IMO it's pretty dumb to be a lab rat.
  16. My urologist and GP in Australia are both Chinese, and my dentist is Indian. Educated people are aware the epicanthic fold is a beneficial genetic mutation to protect against snow blindness, just as dark skin is far less likely to develop skin cancers. Racism is inversely correlated to education level. That pigeonholes you quite convincingly.
  17. Your post means absolutely nothing in terms of reputation. IIRC the Honda Accord acquired the cachet of the most reliable vehicle in America, with the best longevity. That is what I mean by reputation. Mazda is currently one of the leaders in that respect. The Chevy Corvair probably looked great in the showroom too.
  18. It's called cherry-picking data to suit the argument.
  19. Diverting again, and comparing apples and oranges. An MG ZS is a much bigger and heavier vehicle, they were discounted on price for a reason. To repeat - what reputation does a Neta V have?
  20. You forgot: A curse on ICE infidels. May their radiators crack and dry.
  21. At my age, I have trouble remembering what I had for last night's dinner. Haven't heard of boom boom discounts on Loi Kroh or Jet Yod roads. Another poster who likes to lure me off topic, I seem to attract them like flies to honey.
  22. The Mazda 2 is a brilliant small car, with an established reputation. What reputation does a Neta V have? I never heard of the brand until this thread.
  23. So convince me EV owners are not a new religion.
  24. The Chinese disagree with you, they are very interested in the technology of converting hydrogen to ammonia for transport, then re-constituting as hydrogen for use. I would agree EV's will eventually be the vehicle of choice for personal transport. Having said that, hydrogen is definitely the way forward for heavy haulage applications. Batteries are impractical. The Chinese are not stupid. They know their country has one of the worst records for atmospheric pollution, and it's not getting any better with their appetite for fossil fuels.
