Trump Creating a 2 Trillion $ Sovereign Wealth Fund
Lacessit replied to save the frogs's topic in Political Soapbox
Trump's financials are about as transparent as a mud puddle. There is plenty of debt in his property empire. many of which are losing money. I doubt the contractors he has dudded in the past would agree he's unlikely to loot the coffers. I'd trust him as far as I could throw him, but then I am not a MAGA idiot. -
That's more than I can say about you. Thanks for the validation, even if it was unintended.

Elon Musk Urges US to 'delete' Federal Agencies in Government Overhaul
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
IME consultants who come in promising to save money achieve very little. Of course, they claim to have saved a motza. No-one ever goes back a few years later to check how much money was actually saved. Meantime, said consultants reap fat fees for their services. The effect they have is to destroy morale, and create chaos. You think Musk is doing this out of altruism? Naive much? Or are you just thick? -
Elon Musk Urges US to 'delete' Federal Agencies in Government Overhaul
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The wealth gap in the USA is going to get bigger. Cutting taxes will only accelerate the trend. So will tariffs. IIRC it was Churchill who said destroying a free market only serves to create a black market. If Musk gets his way, the data of those federal agencies he wants to close will be acquired by him. Free. $250 million to buy the Presidency is not a bad investment at all, considering the billions Musk can harvest from all that data. It does not matter if poor Americans or minority groups voted for Trump or Harris, they will all be tossed under a bus, irrespective of political affiliation. -
I buy BIC disposable razors, a French company. I base my purchases on whether they are value for money, not their origin. Having said that, the USA does not seem to produce quality goods and services any more, since bean counters took over. An exception is military equipment, which I don't need.

Is It Just Me, Or Are Thai Staff Getting Ruder By The Day?

ASEAN is not as pubic as something like TripAdvisor or Google reviews. First, the owner of the business also has to be (a) someone who is an ASEAN member (b) actually reading the adverse mention of their business . Pretty long odds. -

In Case You Missed it, the Tattoo Fad is Over
Lacessit replied to Walker88's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Never had one, no reason to. IMO nothing puts one in a certain socio-economic class like a tattoo. It's the first thing a cop takes note of, even though they sometimes have them too. If you are trying to impress me with how tough you are with tattoos, forget it. It would be an interesting statistical exercise to determine the average IQ of tattooed people. As far as women go, I have yet to see one whose body was improved with a tattoo. They might as well wear a sign saying "I am a slut". -
China has now put tariffs on US vehicles which effectively kills off $3 billion of imports of the big SUV's and pickups America makes. It has also banned exports of key raw materials the US auto industry, among others, need for manufacturing. The Chinese auto market is the world's biggest, 26 million. The US runs a distant second with 15 million. Trump said to auto workers if he was not elected, there would be no auto industry left in 2-3 years. The Chinese now make cars cheaper and better.Just like the Japanese and Koreans before them. The above is not drivel of any political slant. It's fact.

Tariffs have alienated all America's allies. Most are weighing up retaliatory measures. Internally, farmers can't get their crops picked. Undocumented workers are staying put, for fear of being deported if they turn up to work. Musk is getting free data from every government function. Yeah, the stable genius is excelling in stupid. So do his supporters.

For a guy who speaks Thai, the OP seems to be unaware complaining is the same thing as insulting the person in Thai culture. I have my favorite restaurants. I experiment occasionally with new ones. If they fail to meet my expectations by way of food or service, I say nothing, and never go back. -

In Thailand, the cold water goes through a device called a water heater, and comes out hot on the other side.

Anyone on a ketogenic diet whilst living here in Thailand?
Lacessit replied to advancebooking's topic in The Wellness Zone
I have not found it necessary to go full keto. I eat low-carb fruit and vegetables. Went from 93 kg to 78 kg. Fruit - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, Vegetables: Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bamboo. Salad greens. Celery. Lots of eggs, fish, chicken, pork, beef. As much cheese as I want. Yoghurt, no added sugar. Pork rinds ( good source of collagen ) and almonds for snacks. Rolled oats are high carbohydrate. Eat protein for breakfast. -
Why do people still believe in YouTube quacks, pseudo-scientists with no training in virology, and conspiracy theories? Answer: Because they are a few sheep short in the top paddock.

Scholz calls for state of emergency
Lacessit replied to GroveHillWanderer's topic in The War in Ukraine
IIRC NATO membership is dependent on a unanimous vote of existing members to admit a new member. Under Trump, the US would never agree, as he is too busy kissing Putin's rear end. If Trump pulled out of NATO, that would clear the way. OTOH, it would also signal to the rest of the world an alliance with America is worthless.- 39 replies
