  1. Dude, you have no idea of the gargantuan amount of energy involved in climate change. The Tsar Bomba at 50 megatons is the most powerful nuclear device ever made. It releases 2X1017joules of energy. Since the Industrial Revolution, the oceans have warmed by 1 degree C. Sounds insignificant, right? The oceans in volume are 1,335,000,000 cubic kilometres. To raise ocean water temperature by 1 degree C would require 5.6 X 1024 joules. In other words, more than 20 million Tsar Bombas would be needed to achieve the same effect. How significant are clouds as a factor, in the opinion of the pro and anti-groups?
  2. I don't think either of the scientists you cite can deny the laws of thermodynamics. IMO clouds are an effect of climate change, not a cause. The 1100 scientists are wrong. Conservative models of the Tibetan Plateau predict by 2050 flows to the Mekong, Ganges and Brahmaputra will be halved, affecting the lives of the billion people who depend on those rivers for food. That's without the 2000 odd dams the Chinese have built or are building. Over the last 20 years, the average ice loss from Greenland is about 270 gigatons. Sea level rise on the eastern seaboard of America is about 6 inches thus far. It's not unknown for scientists to disagree. It's also not unknown for some scientists to have their opinions funded by people who prefer to look away, for financial reasons.
  3. The UK is not part of the EU. Its commitment to Ukraine thus far is $16.5 billion. $124 billion + $16.5 billion = $140.5 billion. Are you trying to set a new record for the number of lies posted?
  4. I guess you play that card when what I am posting does not agree with your refuted posts. Like the BS claim Trump's popular vote was the biggest ever.
  5. I know one American who voted for Trump. He seemed to be an otherwise sensible person. I also briefly met an American who was apologizing to all and sundry for Trump being elected. IMO you can add schizophrenia to the list. It is not as if Americans did not know what they were getting, from his actions in his first term, and when he lost.
  6. So you are quoting one Nobel Laureate in science. Who, on climate change, is described as a pseudo-scientist. His award was in quantum mechanics. As I don't have telepathy, I can't help with your "bookmarked" person. Now how many Nobel Laureates in science support climate change resulting from anthropomorphic emissions? As an argument ad vericundiam, your post is a logical fallacy.
  7. If the OP frequents bars, he will have to get used to the fact a proportion of cretins of all nationalities will be there too.
  8. I agree reductions in dividends are a possibility. The shares I own have a policy of paying 50% of net profit in dividends. Financial institutions in Australia are paying quite healthy interest rates - 4.5% on 1 month terms, up to 6.5% for 1 year. I am mostly cashed up, shares are 20%, cash is 80%.
  9. IMO most governments are re-aligning their trading policies to find other tariff-free markets. Combined world GDP is approximately $106 trillion. US GDP is $27 trillion. China GDP is $18 trillion. China is the chief beneficiary of Trump's idiocy.
  10. I will not knowingly be buying anything made in America. After the treatment of Australia in the tariff war, the USA can <deleted> off.
  11. I'd be happy to apply for the job of giving lobotomies to Trump's cabinet. Scratch that, they've already had it done. What jobs? If you think Trump is going to put money from tariffs into renewing infrastructure or manufacturing subsidies, you are even more gullible than the average MAGA.
  12. It is going to be amusing to read the verbal gymnastics of the MAGA's, as the realization dawns they have been thrown under the bus along with everyone else. Som nam na.
  13. It doesn't particularly matter IF the share has been bought for dividend income. Say a share is yielding a dividend of 5%. If the value goes down, and the dividend is maintained, the yield on the share increases. Anyone who buys on a dip in the share price not only gets the dividend, they get a trading gain when the shares recover to reflect the yield.
  14. Take out Pine Gap, Darwin and North West Cape. That takes out 40% of America's surveillance capability, and all communications with nuclear submarines underwater in the Indian Ocean. US can get beef from many places. All subject to tariffs with a broad brush. Try Thailand, I hear their beef is quite tasty. The issues Australia has is with an ally that cuts and runs from all the wars it starts, and uses tariffs when the trade balance is positive for America. It takes a lot to get Australians annoyed. Congratulations on your success. You have probably won the next election for the leftists.
  15. So do I. Australia has several undervalued shares which are even more undervalued now, due to the last day or so. I am filling my boots tomorrow.
  16. For people with cash, Trump's foolishness is a buying opportunity.
  17. Plenty of colas around, not that I drink any.
  18. Most retirement funds are heavily invested in shares. Irrespective of index, the stock market on average lost 3% in just one day. Shares lose value when interest rates are raised to control inflation. Tariffs are inflationary. Reality is many Americans will find their retirement savings are reduced by Trump's actions.
  19. I have a torch no bigger than my hand, LED-based. It's far brighter than a police Maglite. How many enemies do you think you have?
  20. I bought a Mitsubishi Triton pickup in Australia. Made in Thailand, it cost $18,000. In Thailand, the same vehicle cost $24,000. For minor purchases, I doubt many people look at where the item has been made.
  21. I can see quite well with a torch I bought in Mae Sai for 100 baht. Rechargeable, IIRC Maglites run on D-cells. I suppose they are useful for clubbing intruders.
  22. China, Japan, South Korea and the EU are already doing it.
  23. BYD is outselling Teslas. Cheaper, better build quality, superior technically.
  24. Garbage is still garbage, irrespective of the name. Please tell me one American product the average consumer can't do without.
  25. Neither will American cars, or Harleys. Except perhaps by knuckle-draggers.
