  1. Because we pay alcohol prices? we don't want to pay 180 for an orange drink? did you think about that?
  2. Strange approach... differing kinds of socializing? when on a date I like to get them relaxed a bit - works every time. A life without a glass of wine is hardly life at all.
  3. Yes politicians too - exactly what the palace press office are - politicians. When asked about racism they condemned it - what else to do? example: "do you condemn Russia for the war in Ukraine"? answer "I condemn all war wherever it is found" We will agree to disagree on the nuances
  4. I use PULSE mostly for BBC/Sky etc. real time and 24 hour catch-up. It is far better now than it was 2 years ago.
  5. You miss the nuance but it's fine. I have given many press conferences in my time and when asked about something I often made a far reaching comment condemning something or praising something without referring to the actual subject.
  6. I have to go to the small log-in screen near the open new account menu as I can never log-in via the opening screen. Annoying they cant get it right but I order weekly and it is still much better than shopee.
  7. Grassed him up? "hey Bangkok Bank he hit the ATM"? jeeze he was frustrated? mind your own business?
  8. You are the joke. They were discussing the incident, yes, and condemned racism in broad terms. It's a rather clever press release the nuances of which have passed you by obviously.
  9. Well... it's fair comment? I say the same to others who criticize other parts of the world including London where i come from. I loathe Mumbai - I don't go, I dislike Indonesia (expect Bali) I don't go etc. I have been coming to Chiang Mai for over 25 years and have seen improvements as well as some things getting worse as you say. For me OVERALL Britain is a far worse country than 25 years ago as is the whole of the USA. I'd rather be here in Chiang Mai than anywhere else in the world -great for travelling to other parts of Asia and much better than BKK. Anyway whatever works for you - best wishes.
  10. Of course but you are splitting hairs - they said "we condemn all racism" they are not going to say "we like racism" are they? The woman was dressed in African costume and assumed an African name (not her real name) I think most people would say "where do you come from" obviously her family are not from England originally and she chose to make a political point and crucify the old lady who innocently asked. I have a foreign sounding name and get asked a lot about the same thing. I do NOT take offence as I do not take offence when Thais call me Farang. The world is over sensitive anent a minority next thing you know they will be condemning Clarkson for making a joke using a Game of Thrones scene... oh wait.
  11. Don't like it? don't come. It's changed for sure but so has the whole world - you don't think London has changed? Moscow? Paris? as we get older we simply get sentimental about the 'good old days'. Chiang Mai is a wonderful place to live compared to nearly every other place I know - where is better? there are prettier places for sure but not many want to live out in the sticks with no hospitals, cinemas or shopping malls etc. It's all about balance and on balance Chiang Mai is pretty good but its mostly subjective opinion obviously.
  12. No they didn't you are making it up again - 5th sentence is a general comment on society which all of us agree with. Hussey was thrown to the wolves to satisfy a minority. And before you snap back I am not a Royalist or right wing.
  13. I mentioned it as you made the claim. I very much doubt there were lots of people listening in. People get offended at the slightest thing these days.
  14. Most Thais I know are unconcerned and ignorant of wars and stuff outside their coconut but one did tell me about "terrible" Russia attacking "innocent" Ukraine. I didn't want to spoil her mood by talking about Donbas and the rapes and killings there since 2014. People like there wars clean - this side is GOOD and that side is BAD. Simple isn't it?
  15. Mitigation? I worked in hospitals for 30 years and a simple name tag on the toe of the cadaver suffices. Mistakes can happen but don't make up pathetic excuses just say SORRY.
  16. There are some thinkers who feel as you do. The ones who love this war have no clue as to the history of Zelensky and his Azov boys raping and killing in Donbas since the USA coup of 2014. Very sad situation. All they have to do is declare neutrality and not be USA's poodles and it stops.
  17. I think neutrality in a war that is nothing to do with them and far away is a very SENSIBLE stance by Thailand. In fact the first thing Prayut has got right. This is a senseless war brought on by USA shenanigans and now innocents are dying. Stay out of it Thailand!
  18. I like Davao too (but not many bars) but I think Cebu is nicer overall. However when I was last in Cebu many of the bars I used to go to were shut down so I got lazy and went to Angeles and Subic for my fun.
  19. Problem with Pattaya is burn-out (assuming you like bars). It's a place I visit yearly but to live there would send me to an early grave.
