You can not escape the Chinese. By the time you get to those places.. Which you won't.. The Chinese will be there waiting for you
  2. But he apparently is an Australian.
Perhaps he confused the notarial day at the US (aka American) embassy with the Australian embassy.
If he is Australian he needs to to make an appointment to do the statutory declaration to prove his income on or before the 7th of January at the Australian embassy.
Thanks. I already made an appointment a while ago but thought it was available on the 20 th but that's USA.
    All good

  3. Jewellery is for girls, doubt I've ever had anything wearable that cost more than 100 GBP.
Unless you count my smartphone which as about 200 quid.
What's the point of a watch, I stopped wearing one when I had my first mobile phone.
And it does the job better than any watch ever did.
Yep jewelry and bling was for the 80's. Disco, John Travolta, a body shirt opened up to near belly button with thick gold chain, fat bracelet, peire cardon skinny gold watch.
    Been there done that [emoji23]

But that died a natural death but it appears some men just can't let go even in 2018

  4. My bill came yesterday, iy was 2800 baht, about normal  I do not have air conditioning but have 3 old refrigerators and an old power sucking 42" plasma TV (385W) that is on about 16 hours/day.     Other than that it.s fans, lighting, UPS and two water pumps.
Still sounds kind of expensive. I'm 4k but run a btu 24000 for 17 hours a day. Plus older fridge and a gaming pc

    Are you paying government rates?
  5. Having a free and fair transparent election is only the first step on the road to democracy and Thailand has been there several times. For some reason Thai politicians never seem to get past that first step.

The coming election whenever it is held, will IMHO not be free, fair or transparent as the odds are stacked against it, if for no other reason the 250 incoming senators simply by being chosen by the current government have already loaded the scales to one side already.

Sadly for you, IMHO Prayuth has done little or nothing to curb corruption other than to re-direct it to his mates rather that the way it was before.
I can only speak as to how pm Prayut has effected me personally.
Living on lower Sukhumvit for 12 years it was chaos, street stalls and footpath resteraunt were wiped out and they were all corrupt paying bribes. That was huge and never thought I would see it happen

Now that was a corruption buster no other government wanted to touch. I now have big fat footpaths.

There are many other things like bulldozing illegall buildings in national parks and beach fronts etc etc.

It hasn't stopped there but there are many threads over the years if you do due dilligance I won't hand feed you, sorry

  6. Been to phuket over the years. Been to Pattaya 50 times but usually jomtien because it is close to bangkok where I have my condo so it's a nice one month break

I don't know what phuket has that Pattaya has at a fraction of the cost.

Sure the beaches are much nicer but I go to koh larn where the beaches are much nicer than phuket

Cheap travel with 10 baht bus, resteraunts bars much cheaper and if your pecker still works there is an endless supply of beer bars and go go's and if your on a small budget there is coconuts bar

So what really is the attraction of phuket for expats?

  7. Doubt it, he knocks me because I attend wine and cheese evenings. Envy.

I knocked you because you pretend to be the ambassadors best buddy and then posted 10 pages of misinformation..

I could link it along with the beating you took on TV but won't embarrass you..

Wine n cheese? Bahahaha more like Leo and toasted sandwich at 7/11 [emoji23]

  8. Only in Thailand, land of endless coups is the military seen as a political solution. That will put Thailand on par with those warlord African nations. If Thailand want to be developed country, coups must be outlawed and coup instigators punished for treason. The citizens must regain their rightful power and chose their leaders.
Choose their leaders to rape pillage and plunder the country. It's comical how long term expats STILL Don't get it

Have an election and woo hoo we are now a democracy. So what? The reality is all that happened was another corrupt party is in.

Prayut has done better in curbing corruption than the last dozen pm"s

He will be the next pm that's a given and that's fine by me

  9. Before you spend any money on repairs.

Have you emptied and switched off the fridge for
a complete defrost and then restart?
Usually takes about 12 hours, with water leaking to
the floor from the defrosting, but worth a try.

    Sometimes this rectifies temperature control
    problems.
Yes I have. It goes good for a few weeks then back to mini flood
  10. can also try using a 24 hour settable 240V timer, that shuts the fridge down for one or two times each day, to encourage some extra defrosting periods
I did same for a household deep freezer chest, that refused to cycle off, and easily maintained -27 deg C if had been left to itself
Now that's not a bad idea.
  11. the vertical plastic drain pipe for that water ledge, can open block up, therefore no melted ice ever makes it down to the evaporator

it at first glance makes things appear that too much melting is overtaking things, but it is that blockage problem

I use a 60cm+ length panduit strap to run thru the pipe to clear it image.jpeg.391e204e67ab36c218612c8e9882d1ef.jpeg&key=2186c8960b26057d73fb3e2402b75823e02e8d81b681510b154fd44c2bad6c86 so ong as it a long enough one to reach all the way, otherwise you also have to do it all in reverse - upwards from below; to get beyond the halfway point on the pipe

I've looked for that pipe when I had a similar problem years ago but could not find it anywhere

Where is it likely to be located?

But I still have the thermostat problem so going to need technicians
