  1. In France, the UK or Belgium (though not in the US nor probably in Germany), the patriarchy or some male relative would get blamed and she would get away with a mere slap on the wrist. That is what some western countries have come to, immunity for murder if you've got the right genitals.
  2. There's only one rule: "A preposition is something you should never end a sentence with".
  3. She should booze and smoke cigarettes instead. Her foetus would run even a higher risk, but at least Thai media would be pacified.
  4. I remember drinking weed tea on the terrace of a coffee shop in Amsterdam (leaves in a cup, then hot water upon it, like common tea). The waitress told us to let it simmer for quite a while, then to squeeze the leaves with the spoon. The effect was very weak. Note that chemically, making tea is a form of extraction (extraction in a solvent, water). The term "extraction" used in the law is wrong, as usual, "refining" or "concentrating" would be correct.
  5. Never heard of bears in Thailand. Parts of the world without bears are better off without them. Same applies for sharks. Many people these days like dangerous animals to enjoy special protection. I think there are enough harmless animals to protect without protecting killers.
  6. They check behind our back with the bank then. Do they pay the banks for that? Because if you want bank statements from the bank that go back 12 months, you have to pay the bank more the the puny 100 Baht for a letter. When I apply I only bring the bank letter + my bank books with updates over 3 months showing the account has been at 800k+ since 3 months. I remember the agency saying "you can spend it all after you've got the extension".
  7. You mean AFTER extension? Are you serious? I never bothered about it. However, I've always left the country right after extension, or at the most 2 months after extension. So whenever I dipped under 800k that was when I was out of the country or very close to leaving. That may be neither here nor there as far as Immigration is concerned though.
  8. All Wikipedia articles regarding the manosphere are hit-pieces drafted by the Southern Poverty Law Center and by some Guardian's femihags. The last balanced source about Incels having escaped official censorship is https://incels.wiki/w/Main_Page Of course we expats in Thailand are no Incels. We're just in Thailand for the delicious food, the temples, and the pristine unpolluted beaches. We could just as well settle in Toronto or Stockholm and would have no difficulty in picking up girls from the street in those cities.
  9. Pity Mahler (and others) don't have the guts to have incels as guests for a change. Of course if they did, it would only be in order to make incels look ridiculous and obnoxious.
  10. Europe's economy is in for some bad time because of Ukraine. It wouldn't be bad for China to go through a bad spell as well. This will relieve pressure on the energy market. Plus, if everybody is in a spot, nobody is. All economies/currencies going down together. No winners, no losers.
  11. 4 wisdom teeth extracted at one go is not trivial. I'd take the antibiotics. I was once given Clindamycin after some procedure, an implant I think. I got catastrophic diarrhoea. That was about the only time in my life an antibiotic gave me diarrhoea.
  12. Regarding the particular case in the newspaper article, I wouldn't be surprised if the gym had cameras installed in the men's rooms but not in the women's rooms. Not only because males were considered the exclusive criminal gender but also because women needed to be protected from CCTV voyeurism. Overprotection and gender bias come at a price. At least in this case it was difficult to blame an (unkown) male.
  13. "Since it is the first time that card will have been used on the new device, a one-off security passcode is demanded. That verification passcode is sent by the bank to the stolen phone. The code flashes up on the locked screen of the stolen phone, leaving the thief to tap it into their own device. Once accepted, they have control of the bank account." With my EU account the thief would still be left without my bank ID + PIN (or, alternatively, without my fingerprint). It would not be sufficient for the thief to have the SIM card. Any "one-off security passcode" would be sent only after being applied for through the banking app or the banking browser website (both of which require some form of PIN or ID). In my Thai account access to the account is through a PIN on the banking app. SMS messages are only used for infos about payments/withdrawals.
  14. I hope this is not going to set a trend in Thailand of women getting money from men by "being abused/assaulted". I'd much rather women got money from men by trading sex.
  15. Sabai Lodge (Soi 2) used to have one of the test pools in town. Big enough to swim, and warm enough during the colder months because of a good sun exposure and the fact that the pool is at ground level.
  16. It is obvious now that the things to do was not to impose sanctions (since they are self-defeating) but rather to deliver loads of weapons (more than are presently being delivered).
  17. What about first a law requiring vehicles to have usable seat-belts ?
  18. It's high time hotel and restaurant platforms stopped publishing reviews of places in Thailand, or included a warning saying that Thai law only allows sycophantic reviews. The number of stars in the review section should remain preset on 5 stars.
  19. Yeah, especially since I don't even remember biting into anything hard. I was eating currants scraping them with my hand right from the bush. Unlikely a small stone could have hidden there, anyway I'd have noticed. It's like the crown had broken under its own fatigue or strain. Maybe it had been screwed too tightly (back in 2017). Dentists would be likely to err on the side of tightness so that patients don't bother them later with stuff that gets loose.
