-But keep in mind quick renewal or annual renewal is NOT required by any regulation. -An Exit / Re-entry stamp is only required when the PR holder actually departs the country, so it can be obtained a few days before the departure date. -Therefore it's possible a PR holder has no Exit/Re-entry stamp for several years because they had no plan/need/desire to travel abroad in that period. -An Exit/Re-entry stamp is not required for domestic travel within Thailand. -However PR holders who travel continuously (probably their work) can get a multiple entry stamp, and many get this quickly after their old stamp expires so that they are ready to travel is needed urgently in another country.

All good points and very specific to your personal and your private situation. I got some flack when I announced I was going to Oz for 2 years. Mostly from my sons Thai mother in law and son's Thai brother in law (a full on mid aged flamboyant loud lady boy who has opinions of many things, 99% of which he doesn't begin to understand). Their 'objection' was that I was abandoning my son, son's wife and kids for 2 years. Son (and his wife) realized that we should think long-term, realizing that (as I had promised and reinforced) I would always give them regular support (until I die), especially financial support for their 3 kids for education. Son's mother in law and brother in law didn't begin to understand this, in fact son's brother in law several times trotted out 'but he's a farang, all farang are rich with no limit... '. Son and his wife quickly took the line 'it's not open for any further discussion' and always changed the subject.

Yesterday I had a clear, polite and insightful conversation with an SSO lady from the 1506 Hotline and we discussed the plastic SSO member card. A summary: - The SSO no longer issues member cards to Thai members. Their SSO member number is the same as their national ID card number. - Foreigners, including those who have retired and transferred to the Voluntary lifetime insurance are not issued with the card automatically but they can request the plastic card at their local SSO office, made in Bkk, sent direct to the member by Thai Post, usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. The card included the same national ID number as on the pink ID card. The name of the holder is in English. My card will be requested on 2 Jan 2024 when the New year break is finished.

Yingluck Patiently Awaits Homecoming In Thaksin’s Style

Good point. Seems to me she thinks she's entitled to the same plan as her brother, regardless of law and order. -
I have recently regained my SSO Article 39 benefits under the Voluntary Insurance system. 1. I've already given the SSO the hospital I wish to use and been told that's my choice has been accepted. I found the sso members screens and I've completed most of the personal details, and that system accepted my name and my SSO / pink ID card. But I cannot find anywhere in my personal SSO member's screens, or anywhere else in the SSO system a record of the hospital I selected. Can other SSO Voluntary Insurance members please share where to find a record of my name and selected hospital. 2. Do foreigners who move to the Voluntary Insurance system still get an SSO members plastic card? Also I found mention of an app available for my Samsung smartphone which gives a detailed SSO profile of me but when I tried to download the app I discovered the app has been discontinued. Any members aware of a newer app for the same purpose? Thanks for sharing, appreciated.

Dear Transport Company, -I'm not really interested in 20% discount on fares, -I am very interested in an announcement that the Transport Company is providing equipment, vehicles and funds for continuous police patrols on all roads and new laws to hold law breakers for 72 hours and confiscate all their family vehicles and licenses for 60 days.

Easy, the rise of Pita and his party and their very big following especially younger voters, students, graduates and at the last election they won very big. So regurgitate the shins and their cronies and their nowadays alliances with the green machine. -

"... t those times that is what Thai voters wanted and generally those parties tend to win the popular vote.. ..." But let's not forget there was massive vote buying ... . -
I never said that, I'm not going to disclose where I was, but i'll guess the area would be described as middle class / tradie. And yes there would probably be price differenced compared to low income areas in supermarkets etc. But important to remember, for me, is the cost of rental, and the availability or rentals. I was lucky enough to get a comfortable well maintained 1 bed apartment in a War Veterans Lifecare village at a bit more than 50% discount compared to commercial rental rates. Plus the village had good / dedicated facilities for wheelchair users (me) and a professional onsite medical clinic plus inhouse professional catering at very reasonable prices. Bearing all these points in mind, including the point about middle class area /lower income area (which didn't have a War vets housing facility) as I've described above I got a good deal and a very pleasant 2 years and peace of mind that I could survive financially. No further discussion on this from me.

I did the 2 yrs return to gain the OAP and portability. Returned to LOS 2+ years ago. Even in the period I was there the cost of living was beyond belief. I was lucky, through my Vietnam war service I was able to rent a 1 bed apartment in an RSL Lifecare village at a rental rate about half of commercial rates. If I had to pay commercial rates I would not have had enough incoming funds to pay the rent. I could not have survived. Electricity cost is another killer. One item worth sharing, 2 other folks in the War Vets village took me to the local Coles and Woolworths giant supermarkets and pointed out the quite large selection of their own brand products. Best example was Coles own brand laundry detergent $2.00 for standard big size flagon. Other flashy brands / flashy bottles $14.00 to $17.00 a bottle. The Coles branded detergent was in fact a mainstream flashy brand and it was good quality. Dozens of other own brand items the same. Worth a look.

Not like that at all. The charges she was found guilty of were NOT instigated by the generals, they were laid and proven by Thailand's mainstream legal processes. -

Some in my outer Thai family do this. There reason: "i don't believe there's any sick people involved, just the ambulance driver playing a game, trying to get people to move their cars for no real reason. My Thai sons several attempts to get them to change their attitude a total flop.
