  1. I've tried to find a Rev. Dept. website (in English) which quotes these various allowances but no luck. I'm wondering if there's an allowance for supporting grand childen (e.g. school fees), any comments appreciated. Asking for myself and 2 farang friends.
  2. Sadly they prevented their colleagues from getting medical care and possibly true the migrant workers (MW) didn't understand what medical care was needed. Ultimately, given the very poor way MW are treated, and perhaps because of some previous experiences I don't blame them from trying to get some benefits for the injured.
  3. And believes people will admire him and I guess, sadly some lamebrain folks do.
  4. Thank you, I'll go back to sleep now with an easy mind.
  5. But can you carry an electric charger with you on the trip and plug it in when you stop to recharge / to stay the night? (Provided of course you can find a secure location where the charger won't be stolen.)
  6. The basic deductions for an over 65 year old are 190k for over age 65 years plus 60k personal allowance. There is also a zero tax rated band of 150k. If the difference between those two allowances and the 500k you mention is derived from ANY source that is not covered by a DTA and/or is taxed at a lower rate in the home country than it is in Thailand, the income is assessable to Thai tax. Not registering for a TIN and not filing taxes to declare that income, assuming the person was Thai tax resident, means that person is guilty of tax evasion for which there are harsh penalties. I make an example: - Receive Oz OAP every 4 weeks by bank transfer, about 460,000Baht. Less allowances in the Thai tax system: - Age allowance 190,000Baht because over 65, - Personal allowance 60,000Baht - Threshhold of 150,000Baht. TOTAL 400,000Baht Deduct 400,000BAht from 460,000Baht = 60,000 I receive no other taxable income. Therefore no tax payable (my understanding). I've had a Thai personal tax number for over 25 years, now retired. I live in Thailand permanently (Thai PR for 26 years) so where do I stand re tax resident / non-resident?
  7. guess you mean 500,000Baht per annum, meaning money coming in less allowances that can be claimed. - Is that the situation regardless of age? - Or is there an age point where this all changes? (e.g. 80 years old)? - And, if the funds coming in are all from a government old age pension and the recipient has no other income, what's the situation?
  8. Lets' be honest the site will only publish what it's dishonest lying principal wants to see and which will be, in his view, falsely beneficial to his reelection.
  9. Surely the gov't wildlife agencies should be taking care of this issue, not the mainstream police.
  10. Maybe, Some years back the paymaster made it very clear j'pob was not his favorite and the paymaster also instructed his son who was often being seen with j'pob to stay well clear of this loudmouth who is rather pink tainted. (But I'm not criticising that, just his natural behavior, his choice.)
  11. I'm 80 in a few months and I do forget things. With my ATM card I have trained myself to seriously go through 'routines',e.g: After doing a withdrawal: - Is the cash in my wallet? - Is the ATM card in my wallet? - Is the slip in my wallet? - Is there any cash not yet collected in the slot that pushes the cash out? - Is my ATM card sitting in the slot in the ATM machine? - Is there any slip not yet collected from the slip 'output' slot on the ATM machine. - Is my wallet back in my pocket? - Is my smartphone in my pocket? For me this deliberate step by step 'routine' works. I now apply a 'routine' to other activities, e.g.: At BIG C etc I suddenly think of something more that I need to buy, not on my shopping list. I DON'T think 'oh I need to get that item before I leave'. I go immediately to that product shelf and put it in my cart I never 'abandon' my cart, I take it with me every step. Then I resume my shopping from my prepared shopping list.
  12. Sure, his boss did it, now (as he sees it) it's his turn.
  13. What do they mean by 'container?' Seems rather doubtful it would be 10,000 shipping containers. Or...
  14. In common language, the application form for an Exit and Re-entry stamp?
  15. The cae men probably appreciate that you ignore them.
  16. Is the Thai Immigration Bureau responsible to handle cases of foreigners working without a WP?
  17. Or give you a false number, same as in any country.
  18. "News.com.au - Australia leading news site" Just an opinion which many would never agree with. Same owner as Fox news in the US and Sky news in the UK and in Oz, all owned by Murdoch, very right wing attitudes, loves trump. You tube now overrun with Sky news videos praising how wonderful trump is and how bad biden is and the law is so unfair to trump.
  19. Bottom line: military and police newbies are well aware they could face some rough situations, however I don't see the need to use words like de-sensitised.
  20. ".... bullying; and there will always be instructors who cross that line ...." True, we had a new NCO training instructor at basic army training (conscription), he had just returned from active war service. He called the whole platoon onto the parade ground at 3:00 am in the morning, had to be full nude. Temperature was hovering around 5 degrees. No other training staff present. He told all the new recruits to open their legs wide and put both hands on top of their heads. Then he walked along behind each line of men and used a baseball bat up between the legs to hit each boy very hard on his genitals. And if the boy fell down he got a second serving. Next morning the platoon officer was present, several boys got the courage to tell the officer, he was horrified. New training NCO never appeared again and late next day the camp CO came to the barracks, everybody present the CO apologised and said the training NCO had been given a dishonourable discharge with an order he was never to be employed again by the army, police or any sort of security service, and 1 year in a military jail.
  21. I moved into an apartment in melbourne Australia not realizing that around the corner (in a dead end cul de sac, no through traffic) was a large Jewish temple. The temple has a very small carpark. On Saturdays large numbers of worshipers descended, they just drove into other residents / house owners yards, multiple vehicles parked on their lawns, prohibiting the house owners from getting their cars out of their garages etc. Also covered the footpaths with cars, and occasionally ran over small trees. Some community complaint letters to the temple admin. produced answers, such as "Well they have to park somewhere, what do you suggest". On one occasion the above (para above) happened and a very disgruntled house owner put up a very large sign with one word "WALK". It was pulled down, the house owner put it up again, pulled down again and this happened several times.
  22. I'm confused Jingthing: - Are you expanding my comment? or - Are you suggesting something else? I would certainly agree there's arrogant people everywhere / every society / every sub group and just individuals.
  23. You wrote: "Jewish humor is like fine wine...... And most cannot truly appreciate it, if one is a gentile...." Your statement seems to me a good example of Jewish arrogance.
  24. Same to legally adopt an above 18 YO adult to be your legal child, as your child. I can be done and there's a mountain of documentation, referenced etc. After approval by the interior ministry more admin at local amhur office (not for approval) to complete all the documentation, issue new ID card, and letters to agency which issues driving licenses, road tax book, tabien baan records, banks, passport office. This takes a while but initial approval by the Interior Ministry is not challenged.
