  1. Quote: '...to track down students who may have shown sympathy for the Palestinian cause in social media posts.' Surely this is outrageous. Many Palestinians are not specifically HAMAS and surely they have every right to be respected and not be seen as undesirable in any form. Whatever happened to the strongly supported 2 states approach, 1 of them being Palestine (not meaning HAMAS)? I have taught many Palestinian international students in respected universities in the Sth of Thailand. Yes 99-100% are Muslim but none have ever made any mention of their faith / their prayer practices etc. All have been pleasant young people well behaved, cooperative with their uni, their lecturers and each other, polite and excellent high performing students.
  2. Ask a few Thais who have little contact with farang and aren't rally interested in meeting / mixing wih farang. I suggest you'll find plenty of Thais who respect other folks (all shapes / sizes / nationality / position etc.), however they are very comfortable in their own community.
  3. OK, but I always wonder how much foreigners have contributed to the concept of 'every farang is rich, no limit'.
  4. My only flight to the US was on AA Tokyo to Texas. Flight attendants 80 - 90% female. All middle aged, all overweight, all with a chip on their shoulder, most turned a simple request into an unnecessary complex issue. Full flight, staff so slow, started serving the meal at the back of the aircraft and moved forward very slowly. I was sitting in the front row. When the mid aged fat grumpy cabin crew woman got to my row I didn't appreciate her telling me and the woman next to me all her problems with her legs and her daughter and more. Lady sitting next to me complained because food was all gone, so CC lady went to the galley, 30 minutes later they gave the passenger a tray with about 10 slices of cake. And 'Sorry we don't answer the call button for the first 4 hours'.
  5. Translation: "Ni hao" (你好) in Mandarin Chinese translates to "hello" or "hi" in English. It's a common greeting..." No issue or negative involved...
  6. Right back to the initial question. I don't really like the way you ask. Totally my business how much Thai I have learned in 38+ years, and I have no intention of explaining myself to anybody.
  7. Any evidence? Or just desperate to claim, with no proof, there's always negatives about foreigners.
  8. Your continuous comments about leftists are what sickens me. But to start let's get it clear; what do you mean by leftists?
  9. I wonder if he's got minders at his side 24/7.
  10. I was firmly planted in my big western birth county, rare visits to other states, never a thought about visiting any other country. Then suddenly my multinational employer offered me a very good position/ promotion in the company operations in Singapore, full expatriate package. Had to quickly get a passport and then to Singapore which I found to be very different in many ways but i liked what I found. Within 3 months I was offered another move, full expatriate package to Thailand. I quickly realized it was different to Singapore but I liked it. Much less English than Singapore but I didn't let that worry me. Then unplanned I met a Thai doctor, she spoke perfect English, did all her medical studies / training in Australia. We soon became partners and married. Her family very balanced and welcoming, plenty of English. All very different to my country of birth, 40+ years on still exploring but no complaints whatever.
  11. Most / all bakery supplies shops sell them. Some with handles, some no handles, some very small (1 cupcake), some very large supermarket shopping size.
  12. Where's the link saying that the Thai gov't made this statement? There is no such link. But in the past when this was raised with PM prayut, his response was that it was in another country therefore not relevant.
  13. Served 5 or 8 years in jail in Australia for drug offences.
  14. 4. Time to time dole out freebies to public... You mean promise freebies / big freebies but never deliver.
  15. Do yu mean "Can I introduce our defacto PM.......
  16. Pantip now has at least 2 repair shops, both upstairs, near each other, both give good service, prompt, reasonable prices.
  17. They didn't try, the students just walked out with the exam paper.
  18. Could be the small hi-tech item like a pager which gives the exam taker coded answers to the police entrance (and more) exam questions. Perhaps before that the exam guide books available at book shops near universities which quoted the mid-term / end of term exam questions for last 5 (?) years. The problem was that someone (not really familiar with the subject) had written an answer in the 'guide book' to each question but many of the answers were wrong. This stopped after many unis put a number in the corner of the front page of the exam questions pages and kept records of the number on the exam paper handed out to each exam taker. On leaving the room a proctor insisted on each student handing in the exam paper and cross checked it against a list. Thus preventing book shops waiting outside of exam rooms and paying students to buy the exam papers.
  19. Then maybe we will see much more action from the Europe gang.
  20. OIC, you mean influence digits.
