  1. Wonder when the tsunami citizens alert was last tested and did it pass the test?
  2. And some / many Thais are noticing that Thailand is not developing, everything is stationery, creativity and innovation are asleep. I'm well retired but for many years I was a local director of an international management consulting firm. Doing organizational analysis I often commented to clients 'there's no mention in your organization structure of creativity or innovation and no management position specifically responsible for these subjects'. The response 'not needed Thailand is already very advanced' In the last few years I've asked my old consulting colleagues whether this has changed. Answer every time 'nothing has changed, still no mention of creativity or innovation and no management position specifically responsible for these subjects'. There is one organization trying to make progress in this rea - a giant oil and gas company, but there's a roadblock, staff appointed to this area have little experience or knowledge in this area. And as with a few organizations trying to improved the positions are filled by famous family, inexperienced, way too young folks.
  3. Further, seems to me that trump is aiming to gain total control of everything in the US. Up to US citizens to fight like hell to restrict what he can control.
  4. And being a son even a nephew from a serving / retired snr. police officer is a plus. I've often wondered about young cops who are very opposed to corruption / refuse to be involved in corruption or budgets, or paying for promotion or nepotism, or accepting bribes to get cases buried etc., can cope / can build a career?
  5. Quote: ",,,To enter government employment (including military and police) you must pay a bribe." Then to pass the entrance test there's often bribes or tricky methods to get the correct answers broadcast to the examinee.
  6. But it's still possible you or any person Thai / foreigner have knowledge about that wages. Keeping mind that, like any country there's a big salary / wages difference across all jobs, professions.
  7. I wonder what title was used for thaksin at this event?
  8. Then you're not really naked. The shoulder bag could probably be used to cover the jewels if needed.
  9. The time is probably coming soon where folks will have an implant which can be used for multi purposes including ID and digital banking.
  10. "based on a story ..." Why is it called a story? Should it not be based on a report....
  11. Yes there's tensions, but why? Simple answer, way less than professional recruitment and training, less than balanced actions in many cases, reporting often displays that there's 'holes' in the police responses and reporting etc.
  12. There's angry people in every country. My dad had many episodes of strong anger all of his life but his 8 brothers and 1 sister even worse, Even more worse dad's mother and father (my grandparents), many incidents of severe domestic violence and severe verbal abuse. This was all in a very isolated mining area where the men are tough, simple incidents very often turned into severe violence and abuse.
  13. Maybe it's the strict policy of the laundry shop - pay in advance or no service. Therefore he knows that the shop staff know he has already paid so they don't check for receipts. I have a friend who runs 3 laundry shops in Pattaya, she insists 'pay in advance or no washing'. (Why? Because in the past she's had big piles of completed laundry (not paid in advance) which were never collected, tourist has moved n, forgot to collect laundry etc.)
  14. ...and introduces them to urban people and they are taught how to get along. What they are taught is yes sit / no sir and not much more. Thai's don't have conversations about world affairs, they are taught to respond yes sir / no sir and not much more. In primary / secondary school there is no discussion / no explanations. Exams are very often just 'tick the box'.
  15. Paid in advance when he deposited his clothes for washing.
  16. Or was she just doing her job as she is expected to?
  17. Example; very wealthy farang who lives in Pattaya, 80 years old, has several houses / condos in Pattaya and Bkk plus 4 cars / pick up trucks and 1 big bike. Also has several properties in Jakarta, plus a big BMW car. Also has several large riverfront properties on the gold coast in Australia. His wealth is from starting / successfully operating several very large construction companies in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. So he's well aware of the legal ramifications of business and in all three countries he had a qualified lawyesr on staff. He Has serious heart problems, been taking a handful of prescribed heart medications for years. He has no will and no other documents which might help when he 'departs'. his ownership documents are a mess, and he cant find the documents for several properties. His buddies are at him all the time to see a lawyer and get this all sorted and a legal will written, signed etc. His response every time, 'it's not needed, all my friends know who I like and who I would like to get something when I pass. And in any case this is the responsibility of the police'.
  18. Variety of bread, butter/margarine, vegemite all available at Rimping supermarkets.
  19. I have lectured at several high profile Thai universities. Most of the students were from very wealthy / very prominent 'hi-so' families, many involved in corruption, collusion, sale of illegal / unapproved products, scams and more. Many of these students less than honest about who actually completed many assignments. Some other examples: - reason for missing lectures: I went to Hong Kong for 2 days with my mum for shopping. you can't expect me to let her go alone'. - but my family only had 1 car and driver on that day.
  20. Re the last sentence, that's the thinking of my extended Thai family. One extended family member in particular is totally convinced that all farang have unlimited money. The Thai man involved (a middle aged overweight loud know all about every subject is now the brother in law of my Thai son. When my Thai son was arranging his wedding to lady boy's sister the lady boy told all extended family members (regardless of age, employed / unemployed or whatever) that after the wedding they would all be receiving 50,000Baht a month from the Australian government. He told me son he had informed all the extended family they would be receiving 50,000Baht a month. My Son told him taht's not true at all. So lady boy called the Australian embassy in Bkk and asked what the family members had to do to start receiving 50,000Baht a month. The embassy staff told him this was totally not true. Ladyboy shared this with my son and added 'you can't trust farang embassy staff they tell lies.
  21. The shoes' also on the other foot: - when will the US stop interfering in the affairs of many other nations and stop encouraging / starting wars between other nations?
