  1. Agreed, I wasn't considering a case where the person went back and worked for about 2 ears and then applied for the OAP.
  2. Confusing. If someone went back to Oz to start the 'process' of re-establishing residence, and soon after return applied for the OAP and received approval and payments started, how could that person work as a bus driver. The bus driver salary would take the person way over the limit a person receiving the OAP can legally earn. Or am I confused?
  3. So that rules out 70+% of users of this weboard.
  4. Staffed by highly respected civilians who aren't afraid to call a spade a spade an/or insist on credible proveable answers. They do exist.
  5. That could go further using imposed maximum pricing for food products and items essential for decent lving standards.
  6. Aways attempts at nice presentation, no focus on substance.
  7. Basically true, but many rich folks have very easy access to knowledge and methods to bypass VAT etc. Poor folks don't.
  8. You can calculate all you wants acording to the published regulations. A new decree will pop up very soon which overrides the old regulations.
  9. JUst your opinion...
  10. But don't worry, the police will regain their good image by all buying new uniforms and asigning the unior officrs to highly polish the shoes of the seniors every morning and afternoon. And they will all buy new hand guns to show they have good equipment, the juniors can clean the handguns at the same time they polish the seniors' shoes.
  11. Given what you've experienced so far, why continue with this property. And probably a waste of time to even try to get a refund of your deposit. Learn and move on, and good luck.
  12. No so simple, he may have gained the virus years / decades ago. Plus he may have passed the virus to many bar girls / casual sex partners etc., many times.
  13. I'm ost, how can you pay 850,000Baht to the Thai Revenue (tax) Department from your pension income? (unless of course it's a very very generous company pension scheme). To get to the point, I believe the farang who are very concerned are mostly state pensioners? The burning question - will hesf olks have to pay Thai personal Tax? (or will then be under the Thai personal tax threshhold?)
  14. Is Section 40 and it's contents applicable to Thai citizens only or all people residing in Thailand?
  15. Or a new regulation will appear by magic tomorrow and he will walk unaided in perfect health from the police hospital royal suite.
  16. Snailmail / e.mail not the point. Grow up. C'link have said many times that they almost never use e.mail, because it's not secure. And they are correct, it's not secure. If you open your Mygov link thre's other means of communication. For what it's worth the Oz DVA is trying a new version of secure e.mail. If it works maybe (maybe) C'link and other gov't agencies will also use it. Do you have Mygov? Or are you in the brigade of 'They don't tell me what to do!'
  17. Right now lot's of assumptions flying around, let's wait and see.
  18. There's obviously many factor which neeed reform. I certainly agree that transfer for those who transgress should NOT be available. And there should be several civilian committees which oversee investigations, suggest new policies etc., and thos on such committees should be changed regularly (18 mnths?) so that graft has less chance of taking root. ANd civilian oversight of all recruitment and promotions using a rotating civilian committee.
  19. And I guess from your comment that state pensions would be a completely different category and exempt (hopefully). Further to that point, I don't know about other countries but Australian tax regularions exempts the Oz Old Age Pension from taxation. Also some Oz war veterans receive a Permanent Disability Compensation payment which is exempt from taxation. (Until about six months ago this was labelled as War Veterans Disability Pension.)
  20. I recall that era. Had to get a Thai tax clearance document and present it at check-in immigration on departure from LOS. As mentioned at the tax office it was a strange negotiation. Many foreigners hadn't worked or had worked in hourly paid teaching jobs and similar with no records. Others in mainstram employment with their multinationals. Tell either of the initial cases above to the tax clearance man and instant respone "I don't believe you." Often then 'farang get big money, I think you got 200,000Baht since last tax clearance. Then a cat and mouse game until the tax man would agree a number very probably requiring payment of tax. Then suddenly the whole process was totally cancelled.
