Thanks. This discussion stirs whether such a 'top up' (just a top up) is commercially available. Anybody any comments / experience with this?

Thanks now realize what you men. Are you saying there's an extra SSF insurance item available to cover a private room, better food?
-
i'm aware of a farang who pays his monthly member contributions or his Voluntary Insurance (continued Injury and Sickness benefits) from an existing standard savings account. The SSF gave him the name of the government bank, the account name and account number. He put the name of the government bank, the account name and account number into the list of 'favorites' in his K Biz cyber banking and he's been using this to make monthly payments. Further he's recently added this detail to his K+ app and set it up for automatic payment on the 1st of each month.

"...day room rate cover." Is this part of the Social Security Fund Injury and Sickness benefits in the 'Voluntary Insurance' system? Can you please share a little more detail. Thanks.

From above: "...Social wont pay for food or private hospital room, my other insurance covers that up to Bt.6000 per day." Sounds worth knowing about, would you please share some details, appreciated.

Yes it is hard, especially for disabled people. And it's not only the difficulty of getting down to ground level with suitcases / luggage etc. Years back a friend lived in a condo less than 1 km from this station. When it first open he decided to ty to use it bacauseso close to hm condo / home. After being helped by other passengers down to ground level he got the next shock; taxi drivers (making their own rules) insisting there was a minimum fee of 500Baht for taxi from this station and 100Baht extra to transport each bag, but carry it yourself. He called a neighbor at his condo who quickly came with a tuk tuk and picked him up. Tuk tuk driver getting harrrassed / threatened by the taxi drivers.

Ex-culture minister offers to surrender to face corruption charges

And please be real nice to him, perhaps offer him a royal suite, after all he was kind enough to offer to surrender. -
A bit too quick to label people, everybody has their own circumstances and has rights to make their own decisions based on individual circumstances, attitudes etc.

Agree, no chance Thai Imm. will agree. They shouldn't agree it would set an unwise precedent. Sounds like he's genuine but quite naive. Best he gets back to India. He has funds but does he have a ticket to return home? Payment for his return ticket (unless he already has one) should be the main priority right now.

Further, the 'Voluntary Insurance" (continue the Injury and Sicknes benefits into the future or for life) by paying membership fees at a Thai bank every month for transfer to the SSF is available to all members, both Thai and foreigners. But you need to talk with the 1506 hotline English speaking staff to discuss your personal situation re your eligability to continue. Or if you have a Thai wife who is willing to talk to the 1506 hotline staff in Thai then do it that way.
-
Call the Social Security Fund 1506 hotline number. Theres an option to speak to an officer in English but sometimes an English speaker isn't on duty and the automatic machine then continues in Thai language. If this happens try again same day or perhaps need to wait until the next day because when an English speaker is available you'll get good attention.

Thai Workers Are A Joke

Didn't know Home Pro offered installation of one off windows etc. Did have one experience, they had a 4 items kitchen appliance set (same good brand, hob, range hood, oven and sink) on special including installation. We bought the set, installation man arrived, he said HP had given him 5,000Baht to do the installation but he wanted 5,000Baht more from us. We called HP, lady said 'pay him or he will walk' and they have no replacement installer. We paid, he did a good job. -
Thank you Dr. Sheryl. I have a copy of the act, in English, and yes I've studied Article 39. My own research is in line with your statement that any foreigners who fits several relevant SSF regulations can continue their Injury and Sickness benefits. I've had several discussions with the Legal Division at their Nonthaburi head office. They passed my case over to the Chiang Mai office. CM office have, after much *procrastination and silly questions /statements said they don't want to make a decision and have passed my case back to the Legal Division at Nonthaburi. *One example, CM claim that Voluntary Insurance (Continuing benefits) is only available to PR holders. This statement is not logical because they have also said just recently that Thailand doesn't have PR and one officer claimed my PR documents are fake. Another, they claimed that foreigners who request to continue must have original documents to prove they have paid Thai personal tax for the entire period they have lived/worked in Thailand. We referred this gem to a lawyer at the Nonthaburi office. She responded that this is totally not true. The SSF regulations are not concerned in any way with personal Thai taxation. Today a snr. SSF lawyer at Nonthaburi has made some comments suggesing that I am entitled to continue these benefits and he will visit the CM office soon and asked me to meet him there. Step by step. Thanks for your reply, appreciated.

My local Social Security Fund office says continuing Injury and Sickness benefits after retirement and taking a refund of member contributions and paying every month at a Thai bank ((volantary Insurance) in only available to foreigners who have permanent residence. Can members who have continued these benefits and pay every month at a Thai bank please confirm (from personal experience) if this is true? Thanks, appreciated.

IN any case you will have to state a departure location to make a booking.

Go for the throat, legislate maximum prices for food and other essentials. -
Last 30+ years here in LOS. I'm sad that so many folks have to include words about bar girls, there's plenty of other things in life. My very big item is family, I live with my wonderful caring Thai son and his wonderful Thai wife and 4 great loving grandkids. My delightful Thai wife passed on, she was a doctor of medicine and an inspiration for a happy and fulfilling life. Love the food too.
