  1. Also makes me wonder what criteria / mental assessments / behavioral balance tests etc., are used in the recruitment process. I'm well aware that candidate have to pass numerous such tests / assessments etc., to enter the teaching profession in Singapore.
  2. Why no mention of good cornish pasties, as on the menu at UN Irish Pub and not expensive, also in the freezers at Rimping. My school lunch every day of high school, good healthy food too.
  3. -Virgin birth. -Returned from the dead after 3 days. -disciple parted the water on a big river. -Magic appearance of food. Recent reports: - Jesus never existed. - Many folks mentioned in the bible never existed. - And for the white supremitists researchers claim jesus was not white skinned. Not a believer, never will be, therefore no trust.
  4. I rather doubt the Thai police or attached agencies have a 'blacklist' (at a national level of a local level) except for foreigners convicted for overstay and not allowed back for a fixed period (1 yr, 3 yrs etc), foreigners convicted of serious criminal offenses, selling / distributing drugs etc. In such cases perhaps there are blacklists maintained by various courts for specific types of charges. Further, if there is such a 'blacklist' the cops would be unlikely to add names without some solid proof. Either ignore the girl or challenge her: tell her that you checked and there is no blacklist, and tell her she doesn't have and evidence that the police would accept and tell her this is the last message / no further discussion and you will now immediately delete her from all your contacts / friends lists etc.
  5. Which category, includes state pensions (e.g. Old Age pension), and if the incoming monthly amount is under the threshhold of 150,000Baht, I'm assuming there will be no need to submit a personal Thai Tax return. Correct?
  6. Well said. Truth is they offered a very large aount of cash, more than they could raise. politicians / liars at work.
  7. I suspect Makro and 7/11 (both controlled by CP) are not wanting this technology because it means they would have to pay bank fees etc., on every transaction. On the other hand CP has massive advanced resources and surprised they haven't developed a 'work around' so they don't lose out 'cause of commissions, fees etc.
  8. Tap and go the 'norm' for 99% of transactions in OZ, all debit cards, already for many years.
  9. Headline is : "Prominent foreigners call for clarification on labour laws and new stimulus packages." However the full report seems to have missed more details on the labour laws item. Unfortunate because this subject is interesting / important for many foreigners.
  10. "... the majority of Thai banks have not shut down their online facilities." Would have been more fruitful to mention that they are/have upgraded their apps so all transactions are possible / will be done on the app. Therefore the bank concerned is using / maitaining just one computer system which encompasses / supports everything. And massive reductions in operating costs. All of the above is happening in Australia, and some banks are saying that their aim is to: - Increase transactions on 1 app. - Conduct more transactions by telephone (and some banks have said they have already been conducting more detailed staff training so that whoever answers a phone call from a customer can handle / complete the transaction over the phone. (Here in LOS K Bank customers might have noticed the call centre staff are nowadays a lot more deeply knowledgeable and can handle the calls. On the other hand the other big bank call centre staff struggle to give detailed answers.) - Decrease the need for customers to go to a branch. (ultimately meaning less branches and big operating cost reductions). - Decrease the usage of ATM machines, and decrease the total number of ATM machines and therefore big operating cost reductions. Seems to me that the cost savings by moving to the scenario just above are enormous and all Thai banks will eventually move to the above set up. Some banks faster than others.
  11. "...They are happy to give me the job role so I can be granted a working permit visa to stay out in Thailand. " It's not based on the opinion of the employer, there are specific Work Permit laws / regulations which must be complied with. You need to understanding that there is no such thing as "...working permit visa...". It involves 2 different / but linked items: a) WORKING IN THAILAND. Gaining a Work permit which of itself gives you permission to work in Thailand but does not give you permission to phsyically be in Thailand. b). PHYSICALLY BEING ON THAI SOIL. Using the work permit to apply for a specific type of Visa which on approval gives you permission to physically be ON THAI SOIL BUT HAS NO BEARING WHATEVER ON WORKING IN THAILAND.
  12. And, it seems you don't read / comprehend very well, the houses don't belong to him, so any comparion to he salary is not relevant in any way.
  13. And sadly they proably will? I wonder if there's a law or whatever which can prohibit a named person from receiving donations? This case proves there should be.
  14. Correct, of course. Sems to be too early for home detention. So Royal suite police hospital, or is there another option yet not revealed?
  15. Like it or not this is the direction banks are going in many countries; one digital / computer based scenario handling all the banks transactions and processes. Bottom line: much cheaper for the bank to buy, maintain one computer system covering all of their banking. In the past most banks had several computer systems, pretty much stand alone, and with limited ability to operate across multiple systems which stand alone weren't designed/built to handle multiple activities. One of my banks in Oz has beeen going through the same thing. In the past they had stand alone computer systems (mostly bought from different vendors) for: deposits / withdrawals, operate ATM activities, credit cards, loan activities, etc., and all with very limited capability to 'talk' to the other systems. Now all on one computer system, designed / built/ programmed wih standard coding etc., to handle every aspect of banking.
  16. To all, please ignore all the above idiot replies. Hopefully an intelligent logical knowledgeable member will give some good advice. Good luck to the family involved.
  17. Will the 6 months detention be in the luxury royal wing of the police hospital or at klong prem jail? Or perhaps home detention?
  18. Will there be a 'tip box'?
  19. Plus they seem to be quite experienced at such strategies.
  20. May well be, and wanting a 'bent' guy to be in the top job because: - From past history prepared to negotiate / share.
  21. Thanks Dr. Sheryl, I've already spoken to them. The SSF HO officers seem to not understand this subject at all. I've since spoken to a snr. lady at the national administration office (they supervise all amphur offices and develop the actual processes / documenaton etc. She speaks excellent English and was surprised (and a bit angry*) when I explained the situation. (*angry because she realised that an instruction on this very subject was written but never sent out.). She commented that the dark blue covered book, actually supersedes the yellow book (yellow book exists to record foreigners who have long-term visas. The key word (re yellow book) is Visa, meaning that it must have an expiry date but many visas can be renewed on application but no guarantee of renewal). Whereas any person (Thai or Foreigner with PR) who is recorded in the blue book is in that book permenantly (lifetime*) therefore SSF should see this as a guarantee the foreigner will always 'qualify' to continue Voluntary SSF Insurance. and therefore there should be no hesitation for the SSF to accept the dark blue book. (*unless the foreigner is convicted of a criminal offenseand sentenced to a jail term.) She mentioned she would call the snr. lawyer at the SSF today and sort it out, then call me back. Step by step, it's a long road.
