how to handle request of " no income declaration" from Thai authorities
scorecard replied to fvw53's topic in General Topics
Snailmail / e.mail not the point. Grow up. C'link have said many times that they almost never use e.mail, because it's not secure. And they are correct, it's not secure. If you open your Mygov link thre's other means of communication. For what it's worth the Oz DVA is trying a new version of secure e.mail. If it works maybe (maybe) C'link and other gov't agencies will also use it. Do you have Mygov? Or are you in the brigade of 'They don't tell me what to do!' -
There's obviously many factor which neeed reform. I certainly agree that transfer for those who transgress should NOT be available. And there should be several civilian committees which oversee investigations, suggest new policies etc., and thos on such committees should be changed regularly (18 mnths?) so that graft has less chance of taking root. ANd civilian oversight of all recruitment and promotions using a rotating civilian committee.

And I guess from your comment that state pensions would be a completely different category and exempt (hopefully). Further to that point, I don't know about other countries but Australian tax regularions exempts the Oz Old Age Pension from taxation. Also some Oz war veterans receive a Permanent Disability Compensation payment which is exempt from taxation. (Until about six months ago this was labelled as War Veterans Disability Pension.)

I recall that era. Had to get a Thai tax clearance document and present it at check-in immigration on departure from LOS. As mentioned at the tax office it was a strange negotiation. Many foreigners hadn't worked or had worked in hourly paid teaching jobs and similar with no records. Others in mainstram employment with their multinationals. Tell either of the initial cases above to the tax clearance man and instant respone "I don't believe you." Often then 'farang get big money, I think you got 200,000Baht since last tax clearance. Then a cat and mouse game until the tax man would agree a number very probably requiring payment of tax. Then suddenly the whole process was totally cancelled.

A good example of presentation with no substance. -
I rather doubt CP or 7/11 would divulge the information you are looking for. Plus it will be different for different products / product areas and could l frequently change according to the current market forces / market environment and government policies. Plus there will always be 'competitive advantage' factors involved to compare 7/11 pricing / top line / bottom line margins and operational / distribution costs. As said CP (in Thailand) and/or the ultimate 7/11 brand owner (in Japan) have strong controls on the factors which build / change pricing. And nothing you can do to challenge them.

Of course it's well monitored so that it's producing a good result. Or perhaps you'd prefer to have your kids continue to be taught by rote learning. They have no idea why something is correct, they are forbidden to ask questions and 99% of teachers don't ask the kids question to ensure they have understood.

I wrote "...It's well proven that two way teaching / discussion /continuous student participation (e.g. all Singapore schools) is the key to the best education outcomes." Meaning that kids are encouraged to analyse, to ask questions, to ask 'why is that true'? You interpet that as games... Just one approach is labelled as 'Project Based Learning'. Teacher / lecturer gives an overview of a subject etc., then in small teams (2 or 3 students) they kids have to search for more details, then what they have discovered is shared with the class and all students invited to comment / compare against what their team has discovered etc. It has benefits,

Kamnan Nok scandal lifts lid on Thai bureaucracy’s corruption crisis

Nah, I think he's be lablelled with much much harsher words. -
Trying to compare the various systems existing in othe countries is like comparing an apple with a crocodile. There's no 'like' or very similar aspects involved. In any case why should OZ copy the attitudes / laws / regulations etc., of any other country. I did the 2 years, I enjoyed myself, Ihad no real objections, I returned to my family in LOS unscathed.

I've used the app (big Thai bank) to make several international funds transfers, easy to use, works well. Also, the same bank has strongly upgraded their call center service, excellent English language capabilities, focused, call centre staf seem to be very knowledgeable about all of their services, clear advice. Best bank I use is a mainstream bank in Australia, they decided decades ago to get to a situation where 90+% of all banking can be on an app or by telephone. Call their number, there's no answering machine, whoever answers the phone (always quick to answer) handles your call, not transferred to other staff. End result they have only about 8 actual and small offices right across Australia with 1 or 2 staff only.

Same rules condo and house. My Thai adult son and his Thai wife 100% serious about this rule. Also watch carefully whether the visitor/technician etc., is near the children. And same rule applied to one my D.I.L's brothers. Not allowed to be alone in condo/house and not allowed to cuddle/ hug the children.

For the banks yes. Why's that? Banks are now realizing (all countries) that they are supporting the purchase and maintenence and operating costs of 2 or more computer systems (which often don't work together very well). The respons is to consolidate all these activities onto one computer system, and as already mentioned apps are more secure. Plus all banking can be / soon will be possible on an app, no need for other systems. Most Australian banks are doing the same thing.
