Plenty of taxi app services in Chiang Mai, Incluuding BOLT, good service, fair rates. We've had taxis with meters for quite a few years but 90% of the drivers refused to use the meters. Now, with GRAB, BOLT and more apps, the public ignore the taxis with meters, but some now work for GRAB and BOLT because they now got ignored Previously Taxi with meter my house to BIG C, 200+Baht. (Not by meter, drivers refuse to use meter, the drivers just demand a fare they think they are 'entitled' to.) Now, GRAB, BOLT unmarked car around 50Baht. Big difference. And I find GRAB and BOLT drivers always polite and courteous. And on he BOLT app customer can add more pick up details, in English. e.g. 'Old farang short white hair black shopping bag'. Submit and the BOLT app converts the message to Thai language then sends to driver. Works well.

A smaller point, MAGA doesn't have a clear meaning except that (in my understanding) it means middle class blue collar workers (who are entitled to respect, like all human beings) who still believe that trump will being all their jobs back to the US, which is of course totally not logical / not realistic. So many Americans want democracy and capitalism, and capitalism means reducing costs to gain the highest possible margins. Many US (and other) companies see that they can produce their goods at much reduced cost in China, in Malaysia, In Bangladesh, in Indonesia and more places so they dismiss their US employees and manufacture offshore. And the MAGA folks still believe trump will reverse all of this.

I agree, he saw what happened to thanathorn, he should have done his homework better and done it some time bck and taken some action to get the shares (worthless or otherwise) cancelled, transferred to a non family holder or whatever, and then gotten a firm legal opinion about his status on the shares, and/or taken whatever further legal action was needed to remove himself and his family well away from the shares and well away any value they might have had. all well before the election came up. A tall order you say? Well not really, e.g. transferring shares is nowadays done on line in an instant.

"And the military are saints? et all.... No I didn't say they were saints and they aren't saints, not al all. That doesn't change the fact that the pamaster did a number of unethical, immorral things, broke many laws etc., was charged with specific offences, was found guilty on decicive evidence and convicted, with jail sentences. And seems right now to be assuming he can walk in and be mr. nice guy all forgiven. No, he ain't a saint.

Can be true of course. But that doesn't work at all in all cases. My work buddy's mother was early 70s, she haa kept her figure, she was a very good looking woman with quite some sense of style. Her dedicated bf, lover and husband was a 19 yr old very good looking young body builder. They were devoted to each other. Neither had any money, they had each other.

Agree with that, famiies can be extremely hurtful, saw this with my dad, his parenst and siblings hated him for no good reason. By extension they hated my mum and me. Eventually dad disowned all of them because of the nasty vindictive letters sent to me whilst I was on active duty in Vietnam, by my grandmother, about how bad my dad was. All proven to be total lies. Grandma was a very vindictive old lady. Ultimately the whole family went it's own way with no further contact. Familes are not always nice. Why,

And it's against the law, in Thailand for drivers to use their phone while driving. I've been in taxis with my Thai uni students and s student has politely/clearly told the driver to immediately close his phone. -

She claims she has PTSD from this incident. Well it may well have been upsetting. However I wonder at what level she would rank her PTSD compared to war veterans who have experienced debilitation injuries, loss of limbs, seen in military action at arms length away buddies have half their head shot off, years of flash backs, still experiencing severe panic attacks, etc, etc? -
My recollection (I was here and watching this closely) he was charged under civil law for several civil offences which don't a have connection to the illegal coup. For several cases the evidence was made public years back and showed he was quilty. On one charge several senior banking officials (they were still in Thailand when the court ruled) did serious jail time, for illegal loans to another country. The paymaster was also convicted in this case and received a jail setence in absentia.
