  1. Would you like to try to command this 'gang of violent offenders' through proper/real military training and in the combat field.? I recall an incident where one such conscript who was uncontrollable (contrinuously refused to comply with basic orders), extremely violent to other recruits and even more violent to the training NCOs and had damaged property was discharged and quickly.
  2. Enough, enough, every point has been repeated 10 times already. Can someone please close this thread?
  3. A few hints from the abbot of his disciples/attendants would quickly prompt a number of large donations from worshippers eager to 'make merit'.
  4. Plus as many folks probably know, business owners can often pay for positive reviews. One very famous one Tr.pxxnnnnn.
  5. I sent the link to a friend in Oz, the interview was not blocked and friend commented 'very interesting comments from Khun Pita and leaving a 50/50 scenario whether MF will be able to proceed and whether Khun Pita will be banned'. Seems he's got grave concerns whether prayuth and gang will allow new government to happen and therefore it will all fall back to recent situation'. However i'm keeping positive that Khun Pita will be the next PM.
  6. Had one Navy admiral living in my condo with his Thai wife and their kids. His condo occupied half of one floor of the building. The Thai wife was a seriously angry dragon. They had 3 young naval boys (at least 1 was a conscript) living in as servants, cleaners, laundry and car washers, shopping assistants, drivers to take the kids to school and pick them up, etc., plus a navy cook living in. All were forbidden to leave the condo etc., without permission from the wife and she made sure they stayed within her grasp. The wife had quite some track record of serious abuse and violence towards the navy boys and had no hesitation to abuse them in front of other condo owners / residents etc.
  7. Kids can do 'military' service at high school, a couple of hours a week and 1 or 2 easy camps (2 or 3 days) a year. Over several years this produces a certificate which gives them exemption from conscription. Stydying at uni doesn't automatically bring exemption.
  8. They do and it's illegal, but there's still currrently a sizeable intact of conscripts every year.
  9. I didn't say there were 'no rules at all'. There are rules, set by the LTO Land Transport Office, which is where the police will often tell you to call if there's a problem.
  10. They are described as Taxi Cooperatives. A very large % of the cars are directly owned by 4 or 5 companies who rent these cars cars out by the day. Actual owners totally not interested in what happens between the driver and the end customer.
  11. More. In this case the original family name was a Thai family name selected from the periodic list of Thai family names blessed by the Thai king (King Bhumiphol), and was changed to a very typical western family name. Approved by the ministry as part of their approval for the adoption to take place.
  12. They are convinced they are entitled over and above all others. And no doubt someone is reminding them they are entitled and telling them he is not subject to the laws of Thailand.
  13. Has the paymaster been in their ear?
  14. Use BOLT taxi service, app is super easy to use, a little cheaper than GRAB. Bolt has options of car with full taxi branding, motorcycle or 'econo' car, meaning basic car in good condition and very clean, no taxi branding. I use 'Econo' car, about 10 to 15 Baht cheaper than branded taxi. One item: BOLT curently only accept cash, soon to be changed to have QR code etc. Drivers always have change. Can add extra details of location of pick up in English, their app automatically/immediately changes your message to Thai for the driver. App shows where the car is all the time. BOLT driver's courteous and focused.
  15. Correct. And I can confirm that last name can be changed in the case of legal adoption.
  16. Seems I have made an error, my apology. My response was intended for the person who claimed the new gov't should fix immigration.
  17. No response from the OP. What a shame, it would be interesting to read what other non-thai locals see as needed immigration changes. Oh well...
  18. My hope is a complete transformation of education which a complete change on education methdodology? A tall order? Yes, but I believe the current emphasis (kids not allowed to ask questions, teachers never ask 'any questions', listen and respond positively, teachers give the correct answers but never explain why it's the correct answer (in many subjects), never use small group work using project based learning) is holding this country back.
  19. My guess is corruption will be reduced but perhaps that depends on which party holds the ministries most involved in really taking strong actions which do reduce corruption.
  20. I suspect it's you who doesn't understand and I wonder if you see people like qualified (but unreliable) engineers (and their wives) as British Hi-so. But that's your problem. I don't really care.
  21. Strange comment: - I did in fact quickly receive the full rental due, some of which was paid by the farang's employer, and the agency found another tenant quickly (a reliable tenant). - I don't understand your comment about British Hi-so people. He was a highly qualified engineer, shwed no signs of arrogane or superiority. She was a drunk who couldn't control her behaviors and had no respect for anybody. Is this what you mean by British-so folks? - I do enjoy an occasional G & T., with tonic, with lemon and with plenty of ice.
