  1. I don't disagree at all. My coment was about: 1. What happens immediately (re the current 'senate' situation') to decide a new PM and get the new PM legally in place and working. 2. What happens re the future; does Thailand wants to have 2 houses? And if so how would the 'senate' be selected? Hopefully by: A proper legal process bound in law with various limits, including family clans not allowed. Elections organized and monitored by the Thailand Election Commission. A fixed terms (say 4 years) which expires on a cycle which is 'opposite' to the lower house time period/elections. Your thoughts?
  2. Nice points, however globally many countries seem to have more balance by having 2 houses. If Thailand wants to have 2 houes then: - Quickly the current senate set-up should be cancelled, abolished, and therefore the members are removed. - Proper valid elections arranged and monitored by the Thailand Electoral Commission for all seats in a newly structured senate. So should the votes of the current senators be included to decide a new PM? Or... So what happens next?

    Grab tips

Yes they do understand the concept of tipping, I've been here well over 30 years, all that time tips expected in many situations.
  4. One of the cases against thaksin was concluded and it seemed little doubt whatever he would be found guilty. All concerned just waiting for the court to issue a punishment. At this point the paymaster instantly fled. Very quickly soon after 'jail for 2 years' announced by the court as the punishment.
  5. Do you really thinks that's a priority right now?
  6. Ask your wife to give you one smack on naked bottom.
  7. Are you surprised?
  8. But, is every native speaker capable of English (any language) for signage? NO.
  9. At least she tried.

    Thai beef

We buy the local beef at Makro (Superhighway Chiang Mai) and it's very edible. And Thai French from Rimping in CM, quite good as steaks and in other dishes.
  11. Therefore hopefully they already have focused public relations pland and activities which show that change is well foused and there is eveidence of change. MF has many well educated clever young executives, hopefully their expertise will be put to good use.
  12. They are. Thai friend snr. member of MF says 2 farang are non-official advisors about building/maintaining demorcacy and small s socialist policies/support mechanisms.
  13. But the devil is in the details... My guess is that Khun Pita would expect these cases strictly follow the letter of the law.
  14. OK, but seems to me that quite a few of the military apointed senators will realize they can't keep blocking, they need to perhpas slowly go with the new flow. If they refuse to go with the flow there will be problems and MF could rightly claim the senators (the military) are imorally ignoring the will/desire of the majority of all Thais. More protests by the people? A very small side note: I wonder what the future now holds for the arrogant cha cha supporter who did several years jail time in Australia for drugs?
  15. I confirm, PR holders are not required to submit TM30. I haven't done this once in the 27 years I've had Thai PR.
  16. Your choice of what you like to watch, not mine, not ata ll. More to the point this is not a man (man?) I woud want to be running my country. His continuous lies and acts of division are not the traits of a good, focused, balanced, honest, intelligent, respectful and sincere leader.
  17. I lived near Soi Rungnam in the days of the red rapages across parts of Bkk. Many times we had red activists knock on our condo door. Some demanded to see my passport. Some knocked on doors then barged in when the door was opened and did a quick seach for any signs of support for non red groups. A red man and woman told me to go to the airport and never return. Many owners/residents in my condo fled to live with relatives/friends etc., and came back weeks later. They were doing the same intimidation in many buildings in that district every day.
  18. Yes, quite common to take opportunities for corruption. Keep in mind that there's many situation where 'outsiders' have no chance at legitimately attaining a good position without a 'contribution' to the boss. In some gov't offices are staff all related to the boss. Meaning that 90+% of the staff are unqualifies for the job. A twist, I worked for many years at a very large oil & gas facility on the easternseaboard. Large impressive opening ceremony attented by the province governor (and others). After the ceremony the governor (spoke good English) appraoched the foreigner CEO and said 'I want senior positions created for all my young adult children (3 or 4), salary at least 100,000Baht a month and car and driver, start wihin 2 weeks'. Foreign CEO froze, didn't know what to say, so he quickly introduced the most snr Thai manager from the joint venture Thai comapy (Thai 51% shareolder). Thai snr was brave enough to push the request aside. Governer very unhappy and from that day very serious lack of cooperation /serious delays in approvals etc., from the governor/governors office and all Thai gov't offices in the province. Also one of the giant insurance companies who had written very large insurances on many aspects of the operation, suddenly the poicies all cancelled with no warning. Other locally based insurances companies refused to discuss. Eventually an offshore insurance giant agreed to write/start the same policies.
  19. Given the similar case with K. Thanathorn it surpeises me that K. Pita didn't some time ago take serious 'express' action to completely dispose of the shares and ensure he quickly gained dated complete documentation stating 'shares sold on xx/xx/xxxx' and with clear evidence of identity/signature of the new owner. Even further perhaps it would have been wise to ensure the shares didn't remain in his family. Why no urgency?
  20. Read the full details, but I don't disagree it would hev been very advisable to get himself TOTALLY out of the picture.
  21. Directors and most head teachers are appointed by committee at a regional level. But quite likely there are people on these committees who carry great power and influence. If such person suggests Ms VVV for a position then that's the way it will 'flow'. A twist, at some universities the dean is appointed by a 'civilian' commitee. At other unis it's by vote of all faculty members. One such case I observed, a large number of faculty members had been lobbying hard for 1 of the 2 candidates. The hard lobbying won the day. Also in the picture was continuous leaking of surveys of how faculty were thinking/commenting/voting in informal meetings etc.
  22. " 'Negotiation' of salaries is very likely not in the picture. They are gov't employees and like most/all governments there's a published salary scale per level etc., not negotiable.
  23. Trying the chargesd person in absentia depends on local law, not on international law.
  24. The headline says 'principal', further in the report the title 'director' is used. Quite meaningful because they are specifically quite different roles and school directors are paid substantially higher. Which is it?
