  1. Good points, also ask he owner/operator of the vessel to show you what insurance they have in regrad to passengers and check that the last renewal notice has been paid. And check what the insurance states in terms of oeners/operators responsibilities that connect to seaworthiness, mechanical condition and safety requirements. I guess it's obvious I'm rather negative about travel by boat/sea ferries etc. Ultimately personal choice of course.
  2. Agree, basically exercise can be boring (for me 78 yo) but it's not boring because I walk 2 to 3 km twice a day). I can't do weight it seriously upsets my lung condistion. is / can be boring. And I added some other activities. There's quite a few older male westerners in our moo banh in CM (no females) and quite a few older Thais (M and F) who speak good English. We gather at one of the internal small parks about 10.30 am every morning and another intenal small park about 5.00 pm. Both small parks have shade and benches. We chat and share stories. Also, nearby both parks locals make coffee and tea, we pay 10 to 20Baht and one old lady who walks with us makes coffee cake etc, and brings in in her backpack to the morning gathering, 5Baht each cake. We discuss and fix world problems and more. Everybody stays positive. Happy days.
  3. Be nice, get the priorities right, he needed time to get to a 5 star hotel for an early breakfast.
  4. Agree, and if there's a fee to retire I'm sure 50 million Thai folks and several hundred foreigner will quickly contribute.
  5. Whatever trip you book, check carefully/thoroughtly/inspect/count whether there's enough proper life vests on board, enough for all passengers and all crew. Don't accept simple throw away statements like 'yes we have life vests'. Perhaps even buy/take your own life vests. And have them with you at all times. Good luck.
  6. True, he's not hurting anybody in any way, so there's no reason to feature him/expose his private activities which, as said, hurt nobody in any way. Respect his privacy.
  7. 'Fear'. Well that's not really the key word. The reality of the situation, these guys have enormous power and resources which 'can move mountains' and they have no fear or concern for one patient, regardless of errors or mistakes. .
  8. He looks so unhappy. Or is it bored? Given his track record of achieving nothing what valuable contribution (for all Thai people) does this party expect from him? Or perhaps I got that wrong, perhaps it's about improving chances at the trough for the members of this party?
  9. After they pay compensation to replace the item and a fine for being idiots and spend 21 days in immigration detention (which they pay for) and deportation and blacklisting 10 years.
  10. When the original dark blue PRbook is is full of outgoin/incoming stamps (same as in your passport) you go to a bigger immigration office for it to be replaced and you get a white covered replacement PR book, and white again if needed to be replaced again (when full) in the future. Replace at one year or at five years etc., is not correct.
  11. Same, very rarely used / requested to be viewed by any Thai agency.
  12. Good point. There are national laws on this subject but like many items in Thailand local offices often have and use their own interpretation.
  13. Bottom line - - What chance is there these new rules will be fairly enforced with no corruption? - No chance, total waste of time.
  14. What is 'road enforcement'. Does in mean the road is build on properly enforced/reinforced foundations? Some very poor reporting / journalism here, same in many stories/reports
  15. Do you believe everything you read? Do you believe everything said by party leaders and/or current politicians?
  16. To the OP. Thailand has powerful severe defamation laws. Please be careful about mentioning names.
  17. There's 2 legal situations in Thailand on this subject: - If the deceased has left a valid will then whatever is stated in the will regarding bequeating of aseets (e.g. condo) is applied automatically by the court when the court is requested to issue any courts orders aligned to the specifics in the will. The court cannot change the beneficiary details in the will. - If the deceased dies ''intestate' (did not leave a will) then this situation is covered very specifically by Thai law as to who receives what and in what %'s. This must be followed by the court, the family the court cannot add or subtract beneficiaries or the % benefits they are entitled to by this law. This law is part of the Commercial Code of Thailand. It is possible that someone can lodge a case for the will to be changed. This has happened many times in Thailand in very extreme circumstances but is rarely successful (probably involving some long-term family feud or minor wives).
  18. And some/many hospitals are owned by people/families/companies who are powerful and have big powerful political connections. Getting cases dismissed, all documents disappear (in many situations) has happened before.
  19. Well there's a direct abrupt post. Just an assumption that members who offer advice are paid to know every answer to every question and have to reply instantly. Zero politeness just 'I want now'. Please does help. The reality is the sueing hospitals / doctors / lawyers etc., in any country is frought with problems with many answers up their sleeves to make the matter complex and more complex. Good luck.
  20. The rump played hundreds of games of golf, hundreds of hours not connected to his JOB as president and he insisted his protection team stay in his expensive hotels. Go figure.
  21. And repeating it verbatim even if paragraph 1 says 2 dead and paragraph 3 says 3 dead.
  22. As well known, diferent rules at each office. I've renewed work permits at: Din Daeng, Rayong, Rangsit, Chiang Mai, after I received PR. Every time had to show my original passport and PR book. Never once been asked to show my RED Police Registration book.
  23. Clarification: In my post just above I wrote: my Thai son is the house master therefore his name is the first 'resident' listed in the TB book. Son's wife is next in the TB book, then me, then son's 3 kids. That order of being entered into the TB book is by coincidence, not by any regulation.
