Alcohol Sales Prohibited in Thailand on July 20-21, 2024
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You appear to live in a parallel universe , completely removed from reality. No idea how long you have been here but you seem to have sourced your knowledge of Thailand and their religious convictions purely from official TAT published tourist guides . A ridiculous and dangerous position indeed. You should get out a bit more and consider taking off the rose coloured glasses -
There seems be endless studies and research related to cannabis out there these days, Every one of them commissioned or funded by people or organisations with a strong anti cannabis stance. This would explain why not one single report mentions any thing positive, after all the researchers don't want to bite the hand that feeds them. They cannot just keep churning out the same tired mis information every time , so they have to continually invent new issues. "cannabis use disorder" being one of them Don't forget some people believe everything they read, when it suits them and those who have never used cannabis personally, really haven't got a clue and are easily swayed

A spreadsheet as well !! Ok so you don't record every last ml. but as you claim to never get drunk its unlikely you are drinking a life threatening amount, is it really worth it ? -

Thailand Takes Action Against Fraudulent Finland Job Offers
Bday Prang replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So were the 43 "detained" part of the plan, like they confessed ? or were they victims having been conned into working illegally in finland ? In which case why were they detained in Thailand ? Another world class piece of journalism -

Wouldn't apply if one was to use another person's foreign ATM card (with their permission of course) to draw money from that persons foreign account which one had funded -
Revenue Department Contact Reports

Some people just seem to have a built in need to obey authority, even when they are not certain what it is the authorities actually want. If everybody had just kept quiet this might have just all blown over. As,by all accounts, expat pensioners were never in the firing line. But it might be too late for that now. The panic about this has reached covid proportions worried people asking questions to accountants, and then those accountants passing on those questions to people they know in the revenue department, can only have made them more aware of a source of revenue they had never realised existed or how much money might be there for the taking , but now that they do , they might not be inclined to look a gift horse in the mouth. The old yorkshire saying "see all , hear all, and say nowt" is good advice -
Is there an upcoming national alcohol ban on July 20-21, 2024?
Bday Prang replied to guyfromtheweb2's topic in General Topics
Indeed, and as the OP is evidently internet savvy enough to sign up on this website and post a question like that, its safe to assume that not only is he familiar with google and how to use it , but also that he knows full well how much quicker it would be if he googled it himself rather than posting a thread about it on here. Makes me wonder why anybody would bother, But I'm sure they, who ever they are , have their reasons, I noticed a recent thread concerning the last couple of dry days, as expected, ended up a real whinge fest. It ran to about 8 pages. Not that I'm suggesting anything -

What can be done to make Thai Roads safer?
Bday Prang replied to Scott's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I think its pretty safe to say that is the case in most if not all accidents, for at least one of the parties involved, and that applies in any country, it's not unique to Thailand. Personally I'd rather the motorist here does not become a cash cow and end up being persecuted as a source of funds for a cash strapped government I much prefer driving here than in the UK and have had less issues here than I ever had there. -

Indians pooping on the beach in Canada.

Nah , the indian couple would be quite shocked actually as "American white folk" just like their British cousins , do not have the same long established and intentionally recognised reputation as themselves -

Bday Prang replied to Kinok Farang's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
We are obliged to tolerate many things these days that back in the day would have been considered unthinkable, If you are suggesting that we should now consider defecating in the street, or on the beach, or anywhere else in public, as acceptable behaviour for fear of offending the cultural and ethnic sensitivities of none europeans . then I think that for most of us, that would be a bridge to far -
Alcohol Sales Prohibited in Thailand on July 20-21, 2024
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I really didn't write that very well. You are right , its been like that regarding the alcohol sales restrictions for years, I just assumed it was the pickled brains of those who manage to sober up enough to post on here, that were unable to properly understand the details due to being traumatised by the often scaremongering headlines. Words like "alcohol ban" tends to send them all bit crazy But its not just on threads like this, its common nowadays , particularly on threads discussing what some would describe as sensitive matters, that some get so offended at a deliberately shocking headline, they will launch into a tirade, spewing out comment after comment without actually reading the article attached to the headline. which in many cases on this site has little in common with the headline at all. -
