  1. Just back from a month in India. Flew Air Asia in/out of Calcutta and wasn't asked for any paperwork at any stage.
  2. + for a more friendly monkey (langur I believe far friendlier than the temple rats) experience try the ones at the bottom of the airbase. Folks normally take bananas and sweet potatoes but for a treat pick up some peanuts in the morning market right in town next to the post office.
  3. Have you been to Suan Luang 7kms south of Bang Saphan? Motorbike taxis meet the buses and trains so easy to get there and plenty of beach side bungalows right there. There are 2 beach bars, Montris & Why Not and several bungalow options between the two. Can't guarantee a Christmas dinner but beach is excellent.
  4. Yes excellent news e visas are restored as are previously issued and still valid 5 years e visas which had been suspended. I still have 2 years to run so happy days. Where you off to? I'm just finishing off a month in India and just a heads up to check air quality before committing to a location. Agra, Varanasi & Jodhpur all had lousy but tolerable quality (150-170) which required a mask at times but spent the past 10 days in the north east where air has been splendid. Enjoy India.
  5. U.K. now have e visa privileges restored so no more VFS visits.
  6. I'm also travelling in India and have the same issue.
  7. Hope you got your visa. I had a torrid time dealing with VFS Chiang Mai and had to submit a second time and along the way was asked for such things as drivers licence, chanote, wife's ID card and bank statement but eventually was granted the visa with providing only the chanote. One beauty was towards the end of the form they ask for something like contact person and I put the other half but the wonders of VFS insisted this has to be the first hotel I stay at in India. Who would have thought.
  8. And this week they are advertising Christmas offerings so someone has it wrong.
  9. Try Neo top end of Huay Kaew. http://neoentertainmentgallery.com/neoshop/?op=productsbybrand&typez=19
  10. Question is I believe arriving Chiang Mai not departing. When you transfer at BKK from international to domestic there is an immigration point with 3-4 desks and hopefully not the sort of queues we've seen reported recently.
  11. Ok this is what you need for LoR: Application form from tent or the lady. Passport & Photo 2"x2" Copy of: Passport ID page / entry stamp / visa / 90 day report / TM30. On the sign in front of immigration it doesn't mention copy of chanote/lease agreement but take along if you have. Should be it.
  12. If you are sure your paperwork is in order go straight to the first floor as directed and be greeted with a smile. If you are not sure get your papers checked in the tent first then proceed as stated. I was there last Tuesday and 2 people were in front of me. If you collect next day just give the receipt directly to the lady and you'll be out in a flash and with a smile of course.
  13. Go into the main building / turn to your right / enter last door on your left / go up one flight and there set behind a desk in the hallway you will find the lady in question.
  14. By the way the young lady who handles these is an absolute diamond. Sort of takes some of the pain of paying the 500baht for swift service.
  15. Airport only. 50baht and you will receive in the post in 7 days / 500baht next door service you collect. Submit before midday.
  16. Did you look at the Paleo Robbie link I posted above? They list wild sockeye, king, pink and coho but don't mention origin. Have only tried the gravlax which was well decent and the sockeye salmon fillet and again decent. Shipped frozen from Bangkok.
  17. In Bangkok Paleo Robbie sell wild salmon. https://paleorobbie.com/grocery#Salmon
  18. Border was closed due to Covid and remains closed due to the civil war which started when the junta took over early 2021. Is that correct?
  19. Something to do with a war going on.
  20. https://www.facebook.com/Chefs-Together-by-Aod-Dan-107702695386557
  21. "The restaurant provides the best quality of international cuisines such as European, Thai ,and Japanese. All dishes are served at premium standard guaranteed by two reputable chefs of Chiangmai “Chef Dan from Sipolle” and “Chef Aod from Chef's bistro”
  22. Likely less painful at Festival and yes you can get a reentry at the airport.
