  1. I deleted the post. You must have quoted it very quickly. However, I will continue to humour you. Do the dogs talk back to you? Can they cook and clean? Forget about selling. That's not going to happen. Your properties are anchor. Leave them in your will to your dogs. Of course you have a worthless farm in Issan. Just admit it.
  2. Build a trench around the property, and install a pump. Trench size and pump should be of a size and capacity for heavy rains. They will have to pay for this themselves.
  3. Most of the decent steaks here are Australian and / or New Zealand beef.
  4. Thailand has been on the radar for currency manipulation for a while. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thailand-on-us-treasurys-watchlist-for-suspected-currency-manipulation
  5. I would think the truck companies have a driver put the truck on the boat and then leave, then have a driver at the other end meet the boat and drive the truck off, thus, no driver onboard with the truck. Why pay a driver to do nothing for 20 hours? Will you make it a condition of travel that the vehicles have to be accompanied by a driver?
  6. Not just their livelihoods, but their life savings.
  7. So, you buy a 3 year lease, say, in 2019, and pay the key money up front, and if it's a "large place" that could be millions of baht, then covid hits, and these owners are just "sitting on their money" waiting to reopen when they are allowed. Did they just walk away from those few million baht investments, handling the keys back, but no problem, they can buy again? How will they get back the money lost on the covid lock down? Will they charge 500 baht a beer? Who is going to fill all those empty buildings with For Sale and For Rent signs on them, and "quickly?" Wrong? Even shareholders of Thaibev would feel the loss. Sure, you could argue only "big people" have shares in Thailand, but a loss is a loss. No need to sugar coat it under the guise of "nightlife." The sex trade put Thailand on the map, and continued to be a huge earner for Thailand, right up until covid. I am sure it will continue to do so, but it will take a few years to bounce back.
  8. Yes, but still perfectly fine to invest here. ???? Everyone needs a Plan B to Thailand. I dare say, many are now casting an eye over their Plan B.
  9. Well, they do continually change the goal posts here, but then again, it really is 3rd World governance, for a 3rd World country.
  10. As you have made mine. Ignorance is bliss in Thailand, until she is "same same. not different." ????
  11. What has illegality got to do with the tourism industry here, and the millions of Thai's it employs?
  12. Nice photo. Looks like a volcano just erupted. ????
  13. Of course, you are a Pattaya HiSo farang, Pattaya being such an affluent part of Thailand and South East Asia. ???? I am in Thailand Ground Zero - Pattaya. I meant, exposed financially. Not exposed to Thai women. Those sharks feed on anyone and everyone, and there is a long, long, long list of victims, reaching all the way back to their home countries where they have returned broke, and over their balcony, in despair. I'm sure a humanitarian such as yourself has some sympathy for them. Why do you think I, or anyone else, needs the love of a Thai women? With a comment like that, you must be on the hook. Once again, how exposed are you? I am here for the sun, sea, sand, suds, seafood and snatch. Simple as that. I am not here to buy a property I can not truly own, and adopt an extended Thai family in Issan, and cater to any other fantasy a Thai girl might have. It's the reason I have longevity here, when I have seen many others go home broke, or end up living here like a pauper.
  14. I must admit, I was also surprised by the announcement. All sorts of conspiracy theories being put forward, and I have given them some consideration, but I really am starting to think that the Thai government knows their real vaccination percentage, and it may be nowhere near what they have been saying in the media. Or, they have opted for more time to get to 80%, and possibly 90%, especially with Delta, and any other variant that may be just around the corner.
  15. One has a great view from the bar stool looking at those that really think their girl is "different" and "it" will never happen to them. How exposed are you?
  16. Which is directly related to the tourism industry and employment here.
  17. Maybe it's as simple as the Thai government knows they are nowhere near the real vaccination figures that they need, or, are looking at 80% or perhaps 90% vaccinated, before opening up.
  18. If that is the case, then you should get quiet a few trucks onboard, which should supply a steady revenue for the company. I gather there will be quite a few unemployed and angry drivers, but that's progress. Of the drivers that remain employed, it may work out well for them, as they are not away from their families. I guess it will put a maintenance staff out of work as well. In general, Thai's resist change, and many live hand to mouth here, but anything that gets trucks of the road is a good thing, so I hope they use the service.
  19. Best they take that sign down, unless they become The TQ Restaurant.
  20. Not crazy. Just a 3rd World Country.
  21. Happily single here. Always have been. The buffalo is still sick. ????
