  1. My friend left for UK last night and called me from the lounge, apparently there was only one person ahead of him in the Priority (Business class) queue and he got through in 5 minutes! I'm hoping for the same experience tonight but am still arriving at the airport 5 hours ahead of departure time. Happy to spend a bit longer in the lounge rather than fretting in the taxi or at immigration!
  2. Anyone got an update on outgoing delays? I'm leaving April 6th and would appreciate updated info. TIA
  3. If he's in the sun too long, a Sore Kraut perhaps?????
  4. This appears to be one of those "YMMV" situations. ???? No idea WHY Ding behaves as it does but I just do 2 topups at a time with them.
  5. Careful! I did exactly that on one occasion and Ding blocked me after 3 top ups. When I contacted them, I was told that multiple identical transactions get blocked. I was told to try again next day.... I did and it worked.
  6. Add parasailing to your list! Watching it in Pattaya frightens the life out of me!????
  7. Do you still pay the same ATM fee when you use a Wise card in Thai banks as you would with a "standard" credit or debit card?
  8. You're welcome. I keep stuff like that in my Google Calendar - I've got a rotten memory too ..????
  9. I don't do it that way. As I do this when in UK, I top up 10 Baht per transaction which costs 29 pence from my UK PayPal account Each 10 Baht top-up adds 1 month to the expiry date which is the sole aim of the exercise.
  10. Agree with all the above - I use my AIS prepaid SIM in UK and also use Ding to top up
  11. Exactly. The warranty is a contract that the supplier has signed and should honour, either by fixing or replacing - it SHOULD be THEIR problem, not yours
  12. Was forced to fly on Thai in March 2020 when UAE closed its airspace and Emirates couldn't fly. Same Business Class, same aircraft (A380) - NOTHING about Thai is even close to Emirates: cabin layout, service, food quality, friendliness - just NOTHING! Happy to be back using Emirates (they even held my cancelled flight for 3 years with no fuss or expense)
  13. So they're natural politicians then?????
  14. Actually, I asked that very question in SCB ( Pattaya Klang) branch jusv2 days ago. A manager told me that they are keeping both the website and App. Of course she may not have been informed herself ????
  15. Oh my oh my....doesn't time fly? Pun very much intended!
  16. Sadly (for you) that option is likely to vanish in the near future the way commerce is heading However, have YOU ever heard of Pre-paid cards? I find them useful inasmuch as i can only EVER lose the funds actually on the account. I use https://www.pockit.com/ but there are others available.
  17. I did get my suitcase scanned coming in to the old (DM) airport once. Only time since 1985.
  18. Shirley, you can't be serious ????
  19. it is possible to be friends (with benefits) with a bar girl. I've known one in Pattaya for about 12 years (yes, she's an older lady!) and whenever i go there, i see her "professionally" and sometimes take her out to dinner. She's a rather fragrant woman as it goes. We've done each other favours as friends do (she put me in touch with a good doctor when I got an ear infection; I fixed her phone for her) BUT...... we both know the score - I never expect her to be always there for me, she doesn't acknowledge me when she sees me with other ladies. Sent her a WhatsApp last week and told her I'd be back in a little while, her reaction was simply "Be nice to see you again" Perfect!
  20. I think you're over thinking this somehow. Let's end it before we stray into territory not allowed on this forum. ????
  21. You actually need to ask that question? Bless! ???? Here's a clue: the hotel's in Pattaya and I'm a single guy on holiday!
  22. Not sure where you get that idea. Most places I go in Phuket (especially!) and Pattaya: bars, restaurants, taxis expect a tip. Now whether they get one depends hugely on the level of service I get....as the customer it's my prerogative. A good friend of mine often says "Tips are for us to give, not for them to take" I regularly stay at the same hotel and usually tip the maid for her good service...that also earns me extra towels, shampoo etc.
  23. And therein lies the rub! ????
  24. Nah...the boss would have to charge them repeat fees????
