  1. Their hands are tied! They arrest where they can, are not allowed to use "excessive force" even when being attacked, spat at and generally abused! Then, when the thugs get to court, the court does damn all....see my comments above about my Jury Service See this video - start at about 15 minutes in.
  2. Well the FREQUENCY of youthful misbehaviour does seem to increase, but I admit the UK had the "Teds" in the 50s, the Mods & Rockers in the 60s etc. Perhaps, as you say social media makes us more aware, but my and your anecdotal evidence does seem to be borne out by fact. More to the point the "Woke & PC" lot are preventing punishment, and thus disincentive to occur. As an example, i was on Jury Service some years ago - we found a youth guilty of carrying a knife (amongst other offences), then it turned out he was already out "on licence" (ie parole) for THE SAME OFFENCE!!! We having found him guilty, the judge sentenced him to (just) 6 months....then lessened it to 3 months if he completed some course in prison!! Now, what message does that send out?
  3. Yeah - my bad - fingers faster than the speed of brain....again! ???????? No offence taken... I agree about the visibility aspect and certainly agree about the utter ’tw_ttery’ BUT afraid i have to stand by my earlier comments about lack of discipline. When younger, if i was approached by a policeman, I would be respectful to him and allow myself to be ticked off for being "a bit silly". Never would I have argued and even less would i have attempted to be violent! I think we largely agree on the big picture but "the devil is in the detail"
  4. i did correct my reply (kindly re-read my original) - I meant to reply to a different post - apologies
  5. Sadly for some of my countrymen...yes. There are a few who seem to want to cause trouble wherever they go....my earlier comments about lack of discipline and "PC" etc may explain, though NOT excuse them.
  6. So, curiously, despite the fact that you took a shot at me for being a "boomer", we're now agreeing?? Oh well, it's nice to be agreeable ????
  7. Posted in wrong place - (replied to wrong poster) sorry
  8. I agree with that so perhaps the Thai penalty for such behaviour is also too lenient? Or is there an element of local bias or corruption to be considered?
  9. Laughable. The Kray thugs were far from "peacefully" - they ran PARTS of London (mainly the East End) with a reign of fear, as did the Richardsons in another part of London. (south of the Thames) As for "in Manchester etc" that is precisely my point. The authorities in Manchester or wherever SHOULD have the power to deal with such thugs firmly, INCLUDING imprisonment and / or causing physical discomfort to them. That's the point...these thugs grew up in UK being allowed to get away with anti-social behaviour, therefore when they travel, they carry their attitudes with them.
  10. So you agree he was a thug, but disagree with my comments about discipline? Mixed messages Mr Smith?
  11. THAT is where I disagree with you. My "mischief" in my younger days never involved violence or causing permanent harm to others. Nor did I fail to show respect to authorities if approached. There are some very polite and well-behaved younger people about, but society in the form of the "PC and Woke" crowd seems to not want to PUNISH those who transgress. Hence my earlier comment about lack of discipline. What you term as my bias is simply that I'd prefer to live without fear and know that if anyone harmed me, THEY would be the ones to suffer. That seems fair to me.
  12. YES...several times and I stand by it.!!!! A bunch of thugs fighting in public deserve what they get!!! As as for being a "boomer" yes i am but are you suggesting that I should be ashamed of it? At least my age group had, as i said earlier, some direction.
  13. I agree. There's little discipline in Britain today, yet little pranks (not violent attacks like this one) are regarded as serious offences, yet this sort of violent attack brings out the "PC" and "Woke" idiots who want to let these thugs off with excuses like "came from a broken home" or "father abused him" or some such nonsense. Speaking as an old fart (!) I'm glad NOT to be young here anymore. At least when i was young there were CLEAR guidelines set out by my parents and teachers so I grew up knowing right from wrong. Having said that, I'm NOT excusing their behaviour and think the Thai authorities should deal with them severely. If that involves imprisonment and / or pain, so be it!
  14. I thought the same. UJ gave me lots of help with visa extensions both on the forum and in PMs. My condolences to his family and friends.
  15. And you'd know where to go if you had Saturday Night Fever
  16. Usually a stabbing sensation between the shoulder blades. Of course that's only when her husband finds out! ????
  17. Having spent the last 2 months in Pattaya, I observed that the only place I was REQUIRED to wear a mask was in the SCB branch at Klang. Other places, and indeed in other banks mask wearing was optional.
  18. I looked for it, but sadly, it's folded ????
  19. So she is a w*nker after all! Always suspected it ????
  20. Courtesy Jim Davidson, circa 1980?
  21. Because on a motorbike one is VULNERABLE to bigger vehicles however good a rider one might be.
  22. I wouldn't say that's always true. I phoned my GP for an appointment at 8 AM last Monday - got to see him at 10:15 - he sent me to the local hospital for X Ray and I was walking out of there at 12:45. To be fair I do now need to wait for another 3 weeks for a scan but mine is NOT an emergency case. Sadly, the Government whilst wasting money all over the place, doesn't see fit to pay the NHS staff what they deserve hence the lack of people and facilities. But that's here.
  23. He didn't - he accused him of being surly ????
  24. Actually you're incorrect. I made a note for next time and Question 11 said: 11 Applicant is required to upload document that can verify his/her current residency. So, in theory a passport wouldn't show CURRENT residency - i.e., when I, a Brit, lived in USA, I would have had to apply to a US Embassy or Consulate. In that case my British Passport wouldn't have shown my CURRENT residency but my US driving licence or utility bill would. Hence the ambiguity.
