  1. The guy was right. BKK stopped fast track for elites in frequent flyer programs some time ago. Got to be in Business Class or above. Other Skyteam Elite Plus departure benefits still apply like lounges, priority check in and boarding and extra baggage, but fast track on arrival is no. From the Skyteam webite:
  2. I don't think so. I'm in the UK now and have a mate's new Visa card here. Mine has not been issued yet, either physically or in the app, and my surname is earlier in the alphabet than his. Another thing to note is it appears the new cards are only valid until the same expiry date as the old card. I'd heard this elsewhere and my mate's card seems to back that up as it's valid from 02/26 to 08/28, only 2.5 years. Previously cards were at least 4 years going by mine which is valid until 10/27.
  3. Still costing them no doubt but two of them have been running, as the BKK-HKG-BKK flights have continued and the DXB-BKK flight that continues on to SIA or DAD has operated yesterday and today.
  4. Unless that work was Thailand based I don't think your opinion will reflect actual practice. All it will take is for an RD director to say something different from this Senior Tax Economist and everything could flip again. TIT.
  5. Bumped due to no response from support yet. Not being able to mark these as read means they all appear on a custom stream making it almost useless as too many threads to scroll through and no filter to remove them.
  6. It's not quite the end of the financial year yet so not 100% accurate, but approx 10% returns so 80,000 THB equivalent on 800,000 in my portfolio, and the way it's structured another 20% of that in tax benefits so total of 96,000 THB, enough to pay an agent for > 6 years. Even the worst year in my records has been more than half of that. Of course it's not guaranteed to be like this every year but if it ever got down to the break even point there'd be bigger problems than renewing an extension of stay for all of us wherever our funds are. Lots of other things enter one's plans and there's no universal right or wrong way, just right for each individual at the time, but discarding it as you appear to be doing seems a bit strange to me.
  7. I opened an account with Krungthai Bank a few months a go without one. I needed passport, mobile phone no. ownership slip and Thai Driving License (home driving license may have sufficed). I was however directed to a specific branch so I don't know if this is universal. ETA: Just noticed the thread is about CW so should point out my Krungthai branch wasn't in Bangkok.
  8. Indeed, and I although google finds the original article in a search, the link goes to a missing page. I wonder if it's been withdrawn for some reason or if other changes/clarifications are in progress? Image from google search results.
  9. I'm not terryq but his instructions seem good to me. First right click anywhere on that toolbar (I used the button next to the top red arrow as the rest of my bar is busy but any empty space on the bar will do) then left click on Menu Bar by the second arrow.
  10. I'm sure you understand why I clarified your post for other readers? I am. The fee goes solely to the ATM provider. Schwab don't convert the money and neither do the shady card providers. The payment processor does, as long as you don't let the ATM provider do it (DCC trap). The shady providers (most of them) add foreign currency transactions fees on top. I don't know all the reasons behind why Schwab (and others) do what they do but interesting that most of them are branchless, so maybe to attract those who might be put off at no opportunity to withdraw easily with no charges. Nevertheless the charges and rates at ATMs are how I have described them and as such I don't see any mechanism for Schwab to profit from ATM withdrawal transactions.
  11. That's the Menu Button. OP is referring to the Menu Bar.
  12. Not alone, and I don't think it's progress as some would have it. Instead it's some unknown programmer or administrator (I don't know if at forum software or AN level) or perhaps an intern, that has decided their preference is going to suit everyone. I don't use the email you appear to do but the changes in presentation are manifest in other areas, none of which improve this user's experience.
  13. USAP is the Universal Security Audit Program managed by the ICAO, not the imaginery United States Aviation Security Assessment Program as reported. https://www.icao.int/USAP
  14. Not to travel to one's home country like many Malaysians, Indians, Chinese etc will be when heading from DMK, and when the requirement is applicable the airlines will perform the check. Not required at these gates IMO. I hadn't even thought about domestic flights as they are obviously not affected by this.
  15. I don't see the need for the bit bolded - many passengers will be going places where 6 month passport validity is not required, eg their home country.
  16. It's not an airline rule, it's a Thai imigration entry rule that the airlines enforce, as they may be fined if they bring in a passenger who fails to meet the entry requirements.
  17. What app did you use? If booked with the SRT dticket website you should get maximum 30% back. Check your payment card account in a month or so.
  18. Many machines are physically restricted to a limit of 20 notes maximum. There's only a couple of banks I think that have machines designed for 30 notes.
  19. I can't speak for back when you got the card as I don't know when that was or what procedures were in play, but nowadays exchange rates are always set by the transaction processor (Visa or Mastercard) so that's why you see one of their rates applied to your transactions. However, that is the processors fee and they pocket it, leaving Schwab with nothing from these transactions. They must be making enough elsewhere to allow them to treat this as a loss leader, although the poster above who appears to be making ~20 ATM withdrawals per month (4 - 5,000 THB in refunds per month) might accelerate a rethink.
  20. Not quite. Putting funds into your home currency Wise account is usually free and you can then pay when you convert it to baht and send to your Thai bank account. This works out marginally cheaper than Wise acting as the staging post in sending it from home bank to Thai bank, which is how most of us started I think. What you will now lose out on is the ability to time transfers to THB to play the exchange rate game, but you can regain that by timing your transfers from your home bank instead. So little difference in reality although maybe a bit more micromanagement required to get the last satang out your transactions.
  21. OK, rip off location then. Ordering in advance via the PO website and picking up on your once a week visit would just now give you 40.1564 with XE showing 41.9029
  22. Back to the topic and yes, a boat noodle place.
  23. Hope nobody quotes that thread fluk.
  24. Pizza E Vino as mentioned in the linked thread - disappeared 2015/6 going by historical Streetview images.
  25. Must have spotted a scam site or have priced a trivial amount considering they're over 40 later the same day. Comparison site also showing this rate for the PO and a top rate of 41.012 from TravelFX. XE showing 41.936.
