My experience is with BBL so I shouldn't really have included Kasikorn, but I thought they behaved the same with the 2:00pm deposits. Can you confirm you received the International transaction coding as this could be a new data point (for me at least).

Transfers sent to Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn (Wise partners) where the reason for transfer is selected as for long term stay or for purchasing a property need to be identified as a transfer from overseas. They are processed differently from other transfers and arrive just after 2:00pm Thai time, on the day of transfer if initiated early enough on a working day, or the next working day if initiated later in the day. This is when we get the wailing at weekends or holiday times. Other transfers are identified by the receiving bank as domestic transfers.

It's well known why some transfers are not immediate, even if all yours are.

Yup, there's only one financial genius I can think of on here who continually spouts otherwise. 1) He's with the wrong bank to test it. 2) My parrot has more financial savvy than him going by his posts here and elsewhere.

You need a form from the PEA office to take to the bank. They fill it in with all the details and you take it back to the PEA office to be processed. Depending on where you are in the billing cycle it'll take effect from the next or next plus one bill.

How flexible? Still in the Pattaya area or not?

There also seemed to be a top limit of 50,000 THB to get the instant transfer (I experienced this with GBP to BBL) even when the reason for the transfer reason would previously have given a quick transfer. Not a lot of reports of this, but if yours was 50,000 THB or more that may have been the reason.

Be very careful doing this as it may result in Dynamic Currency Conversion taking place. If this happens Thai Airways will set the exchange rate instead of Mastercard/Visa and it won't be in your favour. If your doing this to avoid overseas transaction fees on your card you may end up worse off.

Emirates for me too when travelling hand baggage only. They noticed in the lounge that my documents hadn't been checked so did it there. Others would have been tannoyed at the gate as you were.

Twice you've referred to your washing costs now and I've no idea why. What fare type on Bangkok Airways did you save money on by using carry on baggage only?

Do whatever you want that you would otherwise do at another time, just don't stand there with your thumb up your bahookey for 20 minutes. Slow down, read the posts and don't snip the relevant bit you didn't read from your reply. The 900 baht is for the extra 10kg luggage.

Presumably you booked one of these fare types, all of which include 20kgs. Your 10kgs (900 baht per person per flight I think) is in addition to the standard 20kgs so you'll be fine with 30kg. Not on Bangkok Airways by the looks of it, unless there is another cheaper fare class with no baggage allowance. Saving time would only happen if you have poor time management and waste the time waiting for your bags instead of doing something productive.

They're not much better starting at this end. I've been looking for a few weeks in the UK in November or early December but not finding anything like the "usual" prices in Economy or Business Class.

Lite and Classic fares, which will likely be the first to be sold, do not offer seat selection unless you pay or hold FF premium status. As you don't know how many bookings haven't made a seat reservation you can't accurately guesstimate at the load. There are sites like Expertflyer who will tell you how many seats are available in each fare bucket eg Y9 H9 B9 K9 L9 all the way to W? and these allow you at best to make an educated guess.

How do you tell that? Use a credit card with no foreign currency charges.
