  1. Exactly what I said in disagreeing with 5davidhen1 who posted: I just added a proviso as I personally hadn't done it for a while but would next time to confirm with recent personal experience.
  2. Please explain. What I wrote is what I have experienced and what many posters have also reported (on the many many posts regarding Wise over the past few years). I just haven't used it (the long term stay method) for a while so have no experience of any recent changes, but likewise I have never seen any reported, unless they're going to a different bank which doesn't support the arrangements Wise have with BBL for this. When anyone reports it as "not working" it always seem to be for another reason.
  3. I don't know if would suit your purpose, but I pay my bill by Direct Debit. The receipt (not the bill) which comes with the next month's bill has my name as "Name of Payer" underneath "User Name" which is the condo owner. Pattaya PEA.
  4. There's too much evidence to the contrary. I can't comment on debit card payment as I've never used it, but when Wise is funded from my UK bank transfer the money is almost instantly in my BBL account, with monthly expenses selected as the reason. It'll be a few weeks before I'm sending again but will try the long term stay and see it it still defaults to 2:00pm the next day and shows up as international.
  5. It won't be cooling the room if the freon has leaked out.
  6. The Freon (or other gas) is contained within the unit. None of it comes out unless the unit is faulty.
  7. OK for me too.
  8. You can buy missing years. The poster you quoted said he worked 5 years and bought 10 with maybe more ongoing..
  9. Are you sure? ~ 18 by 18 inches perhaps?
  10. Wise's MO is to take your money in your home country and stick it in their account there, then pay you out in Thai baht from one of their accounts in Thailand. That's why most banks see it as a domestic transfer. When some embassies stopped giving out income letters for renewal of visa extensions this became an issue for many and Wise introduced a system to get round it (initially tagging accounts and now selecting the correct choice from a drop down menu). This only seems to work with BBL however as that's the way its been set up (maybe one more bank?). Regular SWIFT transfer will show correctly as coming from overseas. so the Thai banks' systems work as they should.
  11. Pattaya Nua.
  12. There are cheaper ways at times for certain amounts being sent despite all the claims, but as you say, Wise is easy and fast which is an advantage. Wise even have a comparison tool on their site which shows when they're not the cheapest. Just now for £500 GBP it's Moneygram and for $1000 and $5,000 USD it's XE. Euro similar to USD but for even higher values. Moneygram are allegedly slow but I haven't heard much about XE.
  13. That was the regular procedure prior to October 2018 as the period still valid (up to 9 months) on the old passport was added to the new one. Since October 2018 passports are issued for 10 years without any extras.
  14. 10530 appears to be the postcode for Nong Chok in Bangkok. 20150 covers Pattaya and beyond. https://www.worldpostalcodes.org/l1/en/th/thailand/profile/postalcode/20150 ETA: Nong Chok district postcode and also your username. Coincidence?
  15. Try aerolopa. It's more up to date than seatguru for the airlines it covers. It has for example 5 layouts for Emirates' B777-300s. https://www.aerolopa.com/ek-boeing-777-gallery
  16. Lounge access, chauffeur drive and advance seat selection are not offered with their cheapest Business Class Fare Type (Special).
  17. The OP I was replying to is discussing the bus from Pattaya Nua, not the airport bus.
  18. I don't know about worldwide, but I have two I've used in many places . An MBNA Visa card and a Halifax Clarity Mastercard. If starting out now I would probably go for the Barclaycard Rewards (Visa) card as it has the added benefit of interest free spending and ATM withdrawals as long as you repay in full each month. My two charge interest on cash from the point it's taken so you have to get in quick to repay any cash withdrawals if used this way.
  19. Look up statutory residence test to find the other criteria which come into play.
  20. UK credit card with no foreign currency charges are not prevalent but easily obtainable. Interest is mainly avoidable and as long as you don't overdo it (or have other credit issues) will not overly affect your credit rating. Used in a bank for a cash advance (and paid off immediately) they can be one of the cheapest ways to get cash when overseas.
  21. Take your on-line booking information to the desk selling tickets and they'll exchange it for your actual ticket which will have a seat number on it.
  22. I agree, running them at an acceptable profit level could be a problem however. I guess that's all there is. The number came from a news article on the change.
  23. Yes that's what I posted, although I couldn't remember if it was FD or HSBC where I experienced it. Nationwide's devices (and it would appear from the OP also Barclays) are interchangeable between customers.
