Most commonly I speak with the other farang residents of my condo. Nice, pleasant, sensible people. Maybe 10 in all, some of whom don't want to engage. I agree with the OP that in general I tend to be reluctant to engage farangs when out and about. My experience is that I find myself trying extricate myself from any conversation as opposed to wanting to exchange contact info. Bores, scammers, braggarts, are over-represented here. If your experience is different, more power to you.

I hope the Palestinians can find leadership that looks to the future and to the well-being of the Palestinian people. Historically their leadership has failed them.

The article from Turbli does not look like hate and ignorance. It contains a lot of interesting historical information about engineering development. There can be disagreement about conclusions without there being hate and ignorance.

The thing that strikes me is the purging of historical material from military archives. Trying to re-write history is only done by authoritarian regimes. Purging records and photos of Jackie Robinson, the Tuskegee Airmen, and Rosa Parks if I am not mistaken.

Read what I posted about her and compare your list of earth-shaking accomplishments. She is objectively very successful by any criteria. Her memoir sold 18 million copies while you are desperately trying to get attention on AN from a few dozen retired guys with nothing to do. Let me repeat what I said before with respect to attending Princeton and Harvard: "To be clear, you could never even get to the place where her accomplishments began." You characterize her as crying about her awful life but that is your interpretation. She is going through empty nest phase which can be difficult for people who are capable of forming emotional attachments to other people. She hasn't complained that her life is awful.

It's pathetic that some here have denigrated Michelle Obama's intelligence. Objectively you cannot hold a candle to her. She graduated cum laude from Princeton University. She graduated from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor degree. Just speaking from admission statistics (Princeton acceptance rate of 4%, Harvard Law 9.5%), an application to those schools from her detractors here would have been thrown in the trash unread by the student intern and never considered for admission. To be clear, you could never even get to the place where her accomplishments began. Second, the obvious envy over her wealth. A great deal of her personal wealth came from her memoir “Becoming" which sold 14 million copies worldwide. Nothing stopping you. Call up Crown publishers and see what they think about publishing a memoir concerning your thoughts, experiences and achievements. I'm sure you would get a fair hearing, which, to be fair, would be no hearing at all.
