Radiating leg pain
As a someone with a lot of experience with this kind of issue I totally agree. Give it 1-2 weeks.

Recovery after spinal decompression surgery
Length of stay is mostly hospital policy "we have always done it like this". When I started my career in neurosurgery all spinal patients (mostly disc) stayed 14 days in hospital. One week strictly in bed and one week just mobilization. At careers end all spinal patients, including fusions, were out of bed the same evening and went home the next day. Talking about re-thinking....

Recovery after spinal decompression surgery
With all due respect the MRI shows a clear but not severe stenosis. I have experience with 7000+ spinal procedures and that has taught me that the "size" of the operation poorly correlates with the speed of post-operative recovery. I have seen the young woman with the mini-surgery taking more time than the construction worker with a multi-level procedure. It is however important not to underestimate spinal surgery. All in all it requires about 2-6 weeks of gradual increase of activities, avoiding too much bending and lifting. A good alternation between resting and light activities works best. But in general the speed and level of recovery is highly individual and depends on other factors than just the extent of surgery.

Acupuncture Explained: East–West Perspectives on Healing
There is a wealth of proper scientific evidence that shows that acupuncture is not better than a placebo. These "meridians" were described long before there was any idea of the functioning of the nervous system. Of course something happens during acupuncture (endomorphins, transmitters etc.) but that would also happen with other treatment modalities. Like we say: it helps but it doesn't work.

Online Queue For Retirement Extension Question
Yet I have not been asked for one more than once. But I agree that it is wise to have one.

Netherlands Faces Chaos: New Year’s Eve Violence Shocks Nation
I'm going to sound racist and blame extremist Muslims. Who else would torch churches says one comment. Well, idiots with firework which is supposed to be an untouchable "tradition". Losers looking for trouble. This has nothing to do with terrorism but with stupidity and unleashed aggression.

Trump Revives ‘s---hole Countries’ Remark in Fiery Speech
Do we really have to waste our time reacting to every stupid remark the toddler-in-chief blurts out?

The first 90 Day Report after renewing Passport
Unfortunately I had to show up for 90 days reporting at CW in person three times in the past year already. Once for new passport (which I can more or less understand) and twice for re-entering the country, which I see as an annoyance. The second time they also wanted a TM30. This seems to be requested randomly in place (immigration office) and time.

Switching from savings to fixed deposit for retirement extension
Last year I had an issue. I always used Citibank, but it was taken over by UOB. So the year-report consisted of two accounts, with different numbers. Even though it was easy to see by date and balance it was not accepted. Fortunately I had another account with Krungsri which was accepted without ado. Last week I went for extension and just to be sure got statements from both banks. I submitted UOB, no problem. So it looks like you can easily use different accounts as long as the requirements for minimum balance etc. are met.

Have you ever felt unsafe in Thailand
Groups of dogs scare me. Maybe harmless but a friend was attacked leading to severe injury.

Massive 'No Kings' Protests Against Trump Sweep U.S. Cities
Just to get some objectivity for myself, I asked both ChatGPT and Co-pilot to compile a list of all US presidents ranking from best to worst. Guess who both AI tools put at the bottom of the list (spoiler: you don't have to be a genius).

Tinnitus from Cervical Spine problems - know any specialists?
Tinnitus is not related to the cervical spine in the way you describe. It is a problem of the inner ear, requiring an ENT specialist. I would strongly caution against chiropractic or other manipulation of the neck. It is not going to solve your problem en has significant risks, up to quadriplegia. Believe me as someone with many years of experience in this area.

Anyone else having a problem with WISE transfer?
Agree. I sent money the same time to SCB and Bangkok Bank. SCB took 10 seconds, Bangkok Bank 2 days with a message that there was an extra delay.

ATTENTION Bangkok members who use K-Bank (Kasikorn Thai)
My bank does not have a bank book and in the past (without the appointment) I would not be able to make statement and visit to CW in the same day. I got the bank letter the day before and on the day itself took a small sum from an ATM and attached the slip, which shows the balance, to the paperwork. Always accepted.

Pinched nerve. Your personal experiences in Thailand?
Of course key is what nerve are we talking about, what is understood by "pinching" and what are the symptoms. Technicality: a slipped disc compresses a nerve root, which is not yet a nerve.

Back problems surgery or not
I don't think any serious spine surgeon would even think of a surgical option in a 77-year old severely overweight patient. The chances of a satisfactory outcome are minimal, weighed against high risk of complications and even a worse outcome. Put any surgery out of your mind and go for the non-surgical route, i.e. anything that works for you.

Do you buy "Lady Drinks", and if so, why?
One drink for one lady who keeps you company for a bit. But what I don't like is the ladies that have 4 companions at different places at the same time running up and down.

Thailand Post Suspends US Parcels as Trump Axes Tax Exemption
It has to do in so far that the registered letter is treated like a "parcel", thus noted on the receipt and faces the same delay, even if the content has zero value. I just wanted to point out that it's not only parcels.

Thailand Post Suspends US Parcels as Trump Axes Tax Exemption
I had an issue with Hertz and sent a registered letter from the Netherlands on June 23rd. On June 30th it arrived at US customs and still lies there. My issue was resolved through another route and NL post has refunded the 23.50 postal charge.

Trump Panhandling for Nobel Prize.
Interesting how many words are spent on this. The idea of the orange moron getting ANY prize is so absurd that there are no words for it. Nor are they necessary and thus wasted.
