  1. I've been here over 6 years, and the beach was nice, but after you've seen a few large temples and driven around a bit, it all looks the same and is very boring, especially if you choose to live in Isaan. Nothing to do besides gardening, if that's your thing. Mine are hunting and fishing. No hunting here and the fishing isn't good besides private lakes and pay to fish. It's a nice place to visit, but besides that, if you don't live near the beaches, and love that thing, it's no different than any other country place that's boring, like the US Midwest.
  2. I remember sitting on the lift, that had to be stopped because of the wind, thinking about jumping off, about 10 feet, until it finally got to the top, where I skied down the slope, right to the front door of the lodge, and ran to sit in front of the fireplace. All the other times it was fine there, but that wind made it so much colder.
  3. A covert narcissist is someone who has narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) but hides the more obvious signs. They may exhibit the following behaviors: .. Passive-aggressive behavior They may use sarcasm, the silent treatment, or undermine others' achievements to express their frustrations. ... Insecurity disguised as humility They may present themselves as shy or insecure, but still have a sense of entitlement and need for admiration... Hypersensitivity to criticism They may react defensively or sulk if they feel slighted, and may hold grudges for a long time. .. Manipulative behavior They may use guilt, pity, or emotional blackmail to maintain control over relationships or situations. .. Fear of rejection and ridicule They may have an intense fear of rejection and ridicule, and may also tend to reject and ridicule others. ..Other signs of a covert narcissist include: Superficial charm, Attention-seeking, Lack of reliability, Inflated sense of self-importance, and An exaggerated sense of self...Covert narcissism is also known as "closet narcissism" or "introverted narcissism". Researchers often use the term "vulnerable narcissism" because people with this subtype of NPD appear to lack self-confidence. ...Covert narcissism may have roots in genetics, childhood trauma, and learned behavior. ........................This is a description of my ex here, and is one main reason I will leave here with my daughter. They blame everyone besides themselves, all the while knowing they have a major problem that started in childhood from their parents neglect, abuse or both. .
  4. Sincerely. Why do you bother to reply?
  5. Cold is one of the things that goes along with skiing. That's where good clothes come into play, along with almost constant movement. I agree that being very cold, with wind, doesn't make it as enjoyable, as I skied in New York when it was in the teens with wind and sitting on the lift going up wasn't fun.
  6. I'm guessing you missed the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Maybe some thought we didn't win because we pulled out but the amount of casualties on the other side tells the story. Yes, the objective of the Vietnam War wasn't achieved, so that would be considered a loss to many.
  7. But you wouldn't be able to come here to complain if there wasn't an internet, along with the million other good uses it has.
  8. Some are right and some are wrong. When we pass, all will see the truth.
  9. There is no serious contradictory evidence that there isn't a creator. Only scientists (some) with theories that haven't been proven. It doesn't matter how many days it took or how old the universe is. That people believe that it came about without a plan, being created, is the only reality. Matter, which is what a lot of what the universe is, besides energy which can't be seen, does not happen from nothing, besides the big bang theory, which we believe was Gods tool. Many try to explain their theories, but common sense rides above conjecture. It's okay for some to believe otherwise, because that's their opinion. Faith and common sense has us believe otherwise. Many people who have turned against religion, God, have suffered a loss, so they believe if there's a God, how could he let things happen that are bad. Good questions we will all understand when we ourselves pass. One look at all the species on the earth, how the earth is just the right distance from the sun to sustain life, and how all living things have all they need here to survive, along with the complexity of the human brain, shows this just didn't happen by chance, but of course some will believe that fairy tale.
  10. One of my daughters has full arm tattoos, and all of her ex boyfriends are still with us besides one, but I think he died from an overdose.
  11. No, he wouldn't be in my thoughts at all. I remember snow in New Jersey, a chill in the air in the evening in Texas, a great dinner in both places with family, children opening their presents with wide eyes, going hunting or ice fishing, families getting together from a distance, Christmas music at stores, the smell of pine trees, A Charlie Brown Christmas, enjoyed as a child and seeing my own kids enjoy it later, and looking forward to being with friends on New Years Eve.
  12. Still the same, as many people love traditions.
  13. Christmas is still the same back in the US, just to let you know. I left 6 years ago, and have visited three times since, and have connections back there about al the goings on.
  14. The same for me. Sometimes it's every two hours. Annoying at times.
  15. Nighttime frequency also is related to BPH
  16. A native English speaker is one who has English as their first language.
  17. That's why I mentioned that 27000 is too high ha ..........I'm 172 and 76 kg and I don't count calories but usually eat around 2000 a day, for the last 50 years. Worked out until recently 4 days a week with weights and maintained a low body fat. You're taller so would need more calories to maintain weight.
  18. I'm Polish and Irish but grew up around Italians and have some relatives, including my godfather, who's mom made to this day the best sauce. She and husband were from Sicily. Impossible for me to give up pasta, eating Orzo now, as it's a big part of my daily carbs. You can eat pasta but have to limit it if you're diabetic, as a few of my family members are, and my brother died at 67 from a heart attack which came from not losing weight as a diabetic. If people would google who lives the longest on average, they would see it's the blue zone ones, like Mediterranean and Okinawa for 2 examples. No arguing with a higher average life span they have. genetics plays a role of course but it's not even half of the full equation.
  19. I'm thinking that was a typo and you meant 2700. You really don't need even that much daily. Somewhere around 2200 depending on your exercise routine.
  20. Stick with vegetables that are low glycemic, like broccoli, cauliflower, salad greens, cabbage, carrots, bell peppers of all colors, zucchini squash, green beans, and others. Stay away from, or limit, starchy ones like rice, pasta, corm, root vegetables and the like. All protein sources are good, like chicken, beef, pork, fish, eggs. You can stir fry those veggies with meat easily. Grilled also, with veggies sides steamed or boiled. Don't drink calories in any form. (If you like to drink alcohol, limit them). Look for soy milk, almond, pistachio or oat that is unsweetened unless you aren't sensitive to regular milk. Read labels to see the amount of sugar in boxed cereals and rice dishes. Easy to google low sugar and fat recipes that are easy to prepare.
  21. "Of course, everything they said was a lie. They did nothing like they promised. I told her that now she has options....if they treat you bad treat them bad back. So she refused to do certain duties, became rude to Thai bosses.....needless to say I was proud and they were shocked. Last month she got the boot saying something like inability to do her manager duties."..........................This is usually not a very good idea if you want to continue working, as you're the employee and aren't supposed to be rude to anyone above you in power. And refusing to do her job also? Usually what happens is what did. She got canned. What happens after can be taking it up with a lawyer to try and get back at those who fired you, but her work ethics come into play then and you're outta luck. They said she wasn't doing her job as a manager and that's all the excuse they needed. Telling her to act that way wasn't too smart.
  22. If you have any symptoms it's always best to find out before it gets worse.
